Haha 😂 totally makes it look like a toy!! I showed up in SF last night with no ticket and no money. Met a friend of Danny and she basically gave me a comp floor ticket dead center row 12. Believe in miracles people. The universe likes risky moves made from Love
I just assumed Adam layered 3 guitar tracks. Never thought I'd see the band actually play all the parts. Jaw dropping. Still my favorite band after 30 years. Fuck me I'm old.
@@ErnieBallJMeister yeah probably. Because all the guitar parts are definitely Adam Jones Style. But who knows? Some of them could have been happy accidents and they said shit let's keep it
42 here, but I've seen plenty of older folks at concerts and I LOVE IT. You either "get" Tool or you don't. Best band ever. I don't know how anyone could listen to this video and not feel like they're hearing some of the most badass, epic mastery in music. "Tool fans" who didn't like Fear Inoculum are not real fans - CHANGE MY MIND. Look up the vid of Descending with spy glasses if you haven't seen it already. Tears. Cheers guys, let's be thankful that we at least have these several albums forever. We're not the only ones getting older.
@@SkindrixX 44 and I remember the videos for Sober and Prison Sex late night on MTV being scary as hell to me lol. Was already a fan, then AEnima came out, and me and my friends kept arguing which was the best song on the album until someone finally said" they are the best songs, they're all masterpieces". He was right. Still my favorite album.
wish he'd ditch the cringy mohawk and makeup. This whole idea of him being like "afraid" of being out front is BS, because he does it constantly solo in Puscifer
I saw them live in New York about a month after this concert. I was able to witness this and my god. My friend who was never into this kind of music was almost in tears. An incredible moment of my life definety worthy of a chapter itself
I love that Tool embraced that we love ALL their tracks, and they don't have to fill the set list with songs they've played endlessly. I hope it makes them feel the love and free to play whatever they want. Doesn't have to be The Pot, Schism, etc. We love the Patient! Right in Two! Culling Voices! We just want to watch the boys play!
When I saw them in Eugene, they not only played The Patient, but also Eon Blue Apocalypse. So to hear Culling Voices, this crowd got one less song than the previous shows...
@@jamessuraciart I would assume the reason would be both of those songs play times add up to the same time as Culling Voices. Either way it will be incredible... Lateralus changed my life though, so I would love to hear every song from that album live.
@@jamessuraciart Uhhh.... The venue. Believe me, I would listen to their entire discography live if it was possible. Not to mention they get tired too, they aren't machines.
@@thegoonbats Yeah, no. The venue wont do shit. Also, other bands (similar age to Tool) playing the same venues, play way longer than Tool does (PLUS Tool give themselves a 10-12 minute break in the middle of their set, which most bands don't do). I'm calling bullshit.
I can’t believe they finally did it. Wasn’t sure if I’d ever hear a live version of this! Such a beautiful performance. They’ll get it dialed in after a few more
They used to do it in ÆNIMA tour, as a break, but never playing. They just sitted on the drum riser, while Maynard did his comedy bits about people loosing their wallets in the venue of the show. Was really funny actually.
Wow, just wow! Totally out of character FOR ANY OF THEM. Never thought I'd see Maynard front and center, having a sit down with the rest of the band. WOW, what a treat it would have been to see that happen live!
Wow… to actually see the gents of Tool visibly nervous to perform a song. That was unique and, though rough around the edges for a debut performance, quite beautiful. Once they clean it up, that’s gonna be the gem of the night.
Yeah, I was wondering who they were gonna have playing the second guitar...and I mean the studio version has 3 guitar tracks, at times, all playing simultaneously. So, for a first time performing it live, man...wish I could of seen that.
Justin is playing the second guitar that comes it with Danny playing the 3rd. When the multiple guitar tracks drop to just one, they return to bass and drums.
The first time I heard this song on the album I thought, “No way are they ever playing this live unless they get a special guest to play the second guitar”, not thinking Danny could just play it and switch to the drums in the second part. 🤯🤯
Ive come back to this video two years later after just seeing Tool in Vegas. My first Tool show. What a beautiful moment when they played this after CCT.
@@devashishchhabra687 as much as I'd love to take credit for the amazing sounds I cannot... We were not at the mixing board but sitting behind... Unless you're referring to my screaming every song lyric for the entire show in which case I bow humbly and say to thee thanks!! 🤣
First I've seen it but he's a gifted musician, makes sense that he could be taught a small part to play. I doubt he's shredding solo's in rehearsal haha
Danny is not of this 🌍 Fun facts-while performing Right in 2, he threw a stick into the crowd & cut a guy R I 2. Turns out, dude was a serial killer & they found 3 girls chained up in his basement. Also counted to infinity... Twice. So yeah, he can play ____. ← fill in the blank
Settle down mate. Wat about Lenny kravits who record a whole album with him playing Al instruments. Dave Grohl drummer for nirvana then to probley lead one the greatest bands ever foo , lead singer and guitarist for fighters as well. And that's just couple example I can go forever
The behemoth that is Danny, sat in the middle, playing one of Adams silver burst, adds a touch of comedy to a truly beautiful, divine performance. Love everything about this. Praying things change and they can come back to Canada on this tour. Saw them in Spokane before the tour was postponed, and had tickets to the Vancouver show that was cancelled. I could cry about missing this.
The absolute pain of vulnerability and how each band member (family if you will) rallied around a great of our time and embraced something out of their safe space ....truly the rawness of a broken man surround by support is humankind at it's best.
Maynard at the front of the stage. All of the band members playing sitting in a circle. Danny Carey playing a guitar? This tour is like the golden age of Tool. Glad I got to catch it in Tacoma.
So cool to see Danny play the guitar for the intro! I love the fact that the band members are multifaceted with skill and knowledge of playing different instruments. I hope we'll see more Culling Voices live this upcoming tour!
07:45 I wish Maynard was even this aggressive in his vocals on the studio version. Had this culminated in a scream, it'd have raised this already awesome song to another level. Never thought would see Danny playing a Gibson. :D So awesome to see everyone sit and play; a rarity!
Damn. This song plays way better live. Maynard killed it. You could tell everyone was having fun trying to make this work for the first time. Next time they will be able to time it better with the transition too.
@@vertigoalopolus it's not the best on the album in anyway to me. It just a lot of space and then contrast but the climax just wasnt mixed as exciting as it sounds live. That was my big problem. If the build up is that epic the payoff better be as epic
So I’m a total loser nerd and actually rearranged all the tracks on FI n made a playlist because I thought the original ordering of the tracks let a lot of the songs down. I found that having culling voices as the 3rd song makes it sooooooooo much better because on the actual album, it just kind of loses steam?? So that was a fun little project for me to do bahahaha, and also made me appreciate culling voices soooo much more
Imagine people freaking out because i said culling voices was the best song on the album when it released, first play through this was the one that pushed through for me and now it’s years later it’s still my personal favorite.
Not sure what i like most about this. Danny playing the guitar, the way they’re just sitting down together, how surprised I am to see them play this live, or the enjoyment I’m getting out of watching this. I can’t wait to see em do this myself
I was at this show! Blessed to be able to see this song played live for the first time ever....it's "maiden voyage" as Maynard called it. Love love that they started this song with them all sitting down together at the front of the stage , and Danny on guitar.😁❤ And what looks like glitter falling down was actually little slips of paper that said "Tool. Fear Inoculum" on them.😁 Awesome show!
Reflections of Rush-how they did their slow acoustic numbers minus Neil directly after his drum solo, like Danny, just to give him a moment to catch his breath you know. Tool is totally worth going to see EVERY CHANCE you get.🤘🖖✌️🎸🥁🎤🎹🥇👍👌
I'm from Sacramento and I stupidly didn't go to this show, but I saw them at Aftershock back in 2019, and they're easily one of the best bands if not THE best band I've ever seen live
Thank you for sharing! I was fortunate to see Eulogy at the Hershey, PA show after Chris Cornell’s untimely death. This moved me to tears as I’m tapering off benzodiazepines. If ya know, ya know. Thanks again.
Literally just found out today that DC plays guitar & now I find this video. Awesome. Continually impressed by this amazing band and it’s talented members.
Thanks for taking a chance at capturing this gem. I'm sure you're RU-vid account appreciated the 1.2mil views. Beautiful to see all 4 of them so close and 3 of them playing guitar. Always wondered how Adam would pull this song off live. I imagine a looper pedal definitely didn't expect to see Danny dawning a guitar.
Adam's birthday surprise. I missed last night's show but saw them in Fresno on Adam's B-day. That was the first time they had played The Patient in 7 years or so. I get that people are disappointed to miss out on The Patient... but this is pretty damn cool too. You'll never forget an Adam's B-Day show!
We realized the day of the show that it was Adam's birthday and we knew we were in for something extra special! I was so blown away by all of the show, but when they all gathered at the front of the stage, I was like....whoa!
Absolutely amazing to wake up and jam to. Thank you for uploading this epic video! They took it to a whole new level,, The live version sounds even better than the album 🔥🙌🏼❤🤟🏼
Saw them tonight and thought I might be hallucinating, or too far up in the nosebleeds to be sure, but could have sworn I saw Danny playing guitar during this part of the show. Had to come find a video of it. Thanks.
