I think you did a great job. With your ear, I will predict that you agree with my frank critique, as a musician chasing good performance since 1962. My Son is a producer and he could tell you one of the guiding philosophies he was raised in music with from age 3: "Coaching is not a matter of ass kissing, it is the effort to realistically encourage by sharpening and polishing those with real talent." You played this song very well, especially as a single take video with limited sweetening. By choosing to do what only a relatively small number of the insane do; in chasing an accurate arrangement of a studio production that is known NOTE FOR NOTE by thousands of musicians and by sound by a staggering number of fans; you set a crazy challenge for yourself. In spite of the odds against you: using your work ethic, talented ear and creative equipment usage, you scored about 95 to 97% overall. Only the normal, very small events of rushing and dragging and tuning drift really affect your score. As a one take vid, those don't even really count, since if you were doing tracks for sale, they would be redone error-free and thoroughly edited in post production. As you know, original artists just don't aim for a non-production version this close, since it is so difficult and time consuming. Only fans that really know, appreciate and love the music and what it does for and to the soul would ever attempt such a stunt. My hat is off to you. I respect any musicians and other fans that listen as intently as you clearly do. I advise you to ride the spiral as long as you live! Oh, but try to be patient with the women in your life who don't understand your dedication. Just my two cents....
Well said sir and I really appreciate the comment. I feel like the more you appreciate a piece of music, the easier it is to perform. Almost as though you subconsciously replicate some nuances with greater accuracy than if you had put forth an intentional effort. Not that there's no effort involved but as an example if you consciously go 1, 2, ..., 4 then 3 comes naturally.
pretty late but, I aspire to be this well rounded both in tone creating/replicating knowledge and in will, to play such respectful covers getting this close both in tone and style must've took a while I really appreciate the work you put in, and hope to get to that level :D
Phenomenal cover man, I love it! Standing so close to a dual rect though, damn! Lol hope you have headphones on or something lol. Love your setup, looks just like his pedalboard. Tone is on the mark as well. Well done sir, my hats off to you!
Thanks a lot man! And yeah, I run through headphones when I record but don't when I'm just practicing. As far as the board, it's a little more upgraded now. You can see the current version in my Pneuma video.
Hey great vids. What kind of clamp and cam you are using on the headstock. im looking for similar shot angle that includes the floor pedal work. Thanks
@@deenskis Yeah man, no attenuator. As expected, pretty damn loud. Kinda needs to be that way to get the best tone as well as getting feedback to show up at the right times. Really need those vibrations to shake the strings. Especially since Adam doesn't use a huge amount of gain.
No no, it's impossible. I find 2nd channel more into the Aenima sound and Undertow, and for some Lateralus songs, 3 channel is perfect for Thicks and leeches and 10,000 days. Do you use Microamp? If you remember the amp settings I'd like to try with mine. .-)
Hagstrom4ever I probably run my gain slightly higher to make up for only using 1 amp. I am also running a micro amp, set to about 10 o'clock. Amp settings are in o'clocks too. Modern 100W. Presence 10, Master and Gain 11, Bass 12, Mid 5 and treble at 3. The tone varies depending on where you stand so your results may vary. Also running a DOD eq with highs slightly boosted.
Thanks man. It's a hero 4 silver. I don't recall the exact mount I used but if you Google "gopro headstock mount" you'll come up with a bunch. Mine has a clamp that grabs the head and then a rod that goes to the camera with another joint in the middle
@@eduardomarcucci370 Ok. Well the eq and micro amp are always on so the only additional pedal that's on is the delay. Most of the magic on that part is the pinch harmonics.
@@jacknicholson5794 Cool, just like adam jones plays. Guess I'll be paying more for that too. Do you have the L-120 or H-120? Appreciate the feedback, we have similar pedal board setups.
@@cscoioscscoios2768 No problem man. I have the L120. I wasn't looking for either one specifically since internally they're identical. I believe Adam has the H120 if that makes a difference to you.
Hiya! For this song I had it on the whole time. I just felt it helped with the tone. That's not always the case. All of the pedals (volume, micro amp, wah, delay, flange, eq) are in a loop created by one of the red psm pedals. I can't say for sure what Adam does but I leave the micro amp on all of the time, however, you only hear it when the loop is engaged. I feel like it helps boost the signal through all of the pedals. Especially since everything is in front of the amp. Hopefully that makes sense. Tl;dr, signal boost through effects chain. Also, if you check out my Eulogy and Parabola videos, you'll see that for the most part I use the psm to turn effects on and off and there really isn't much if any tone loss whether the signal chain is on or off.
Yeah. It's there to compensate for the signal loss going through all of the effects. Since the psm-5 is basically used to engage the effects chain. Without the micro amp, you'd hear a significant volume drop when engaging the effects chain.
Jack Nicholson I think it looks so cool. I thought it was a rack-like compressor at first, lol.I'm starting to build my 1st pedalboard (moving away from multi-FX). You did a spotless job with yours. Would you mind sharing your BF-2 settings?
@@archie_guitar Thanks man. I definitely took my time with it trying to get everything right. Settings are Manual - max Depth - max Rate - middle Res - off
@@jonathanseibert8832 I think the end of the set is right. But I see what you mean about the beginning. I'm just throwing in an extra 5 there instead of just going 0-3-0 etc
