8-Bit Remix of Pneuma by TOOL. This is probably my most difficult project yet, and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out. Those drums are insane!
(Edit: Forty Six & 2 cover now uploaded!) Just noticed that this video has gotten a lot of views lately for some reason, thanks for the support everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve made an 8bit cover, but I might have to make another Tool cover if enough people are interested!
I suppose it's something he would have said on another occasion with his friends about other songs and his own, Mark Portnoy is great. music is mathematics.
I find that having a version like this really helps me outline all the ideas from the original artist and lets me see deeper into their creation process. Sometimes in rock/metal music things get buried beneath the layers and guitar effects. Plus the 8-bit is kinda cheeky and relaxing
Humanity is capable of amazing things and wonderous achievements sometimes. This didn't NEED to exist, but thanks to some truly dedicated person, it DOES... and I think we live in a far better world for it.
Man, this brings be back. Back to the pre-Napster days when I'd be searching for an mp3 for a song and get so excited to finally find it, only for it to be a midi instead of the band. And some of them were *really* well done, as this one is, which I can appreciate now that I can access the actual song on demand. Seriously impressive effort.
@@MichaelG485 Yea it's cool, but then it's sad scrolling down seeing people have imaginary relationships with someone they never met and then feeling the need to tell the world about how their imaginary friend feels about something.... Like why can't we just enjoy things without people needing to express their mental disorders?
The very slight reverb on the drums was such a good decision. It really helps it cut through the mix, which is something a lot of other 8 Bit artists don't take into consideration. One other thing that might help make the mix a little clearer is panning the guitar tracks half left and half right. I notice in some parts it's going out of phase because they're sort of cancelling each other out. It's not a HUGE deal though because that out of phase sound is kinda part of the aesthetic so that's more just personal taste. Great work though!
This is so on point and awesome 🤘 Also love seeing old and fresh comments! Shows how timeless Tool and this song specifically is and of course this rendition of it. Rock on!
This is absolutely stunning! As someone who grew up on the 8-bit sound, this reminds me of how I felt when I heard the Final Fantasy VI music for the first time - blown away!
Just now getting this recommendation from YT, and damn. Well done! All the volume changing and keeping up with the odd drum timing in the original. This had to be pretty rough in midi lol
This is amazing. This really allows you to hear all the layers on each other more profoundly. It’s so amazing I absolutely love this. Does anyone else agree that when you listen to covers or drum only tracks you hear a totally different song?
