In this video I share with you one of my all time (as of today) favorite rounded nut/bolt extractor. Living in the rust belt and working on junk most of my life I have tried about every tool under the sun to remove a rounded off rusted out fastener. These Mac Tools R.B.R.T™ Extractors have been the bees knees. Down side is they are stupid money but worth every penny when it comes down to it in the shop. Enjoy!

Rounded bolt removal tool, with built in trash ejector... That gave me an idea for bolts that typically get stuck in a socket. INSERT NUT in socket, BEFORE beating onto the problem fastener. It'll save you from beating the snot out of it to release the removed fastener....just thread in an appropriate bolt into the inserted nut and PUSH BABY PUSH!

MAC should send you some compensation for this video. I'm going to buy a set. Seeing is believing. I work on 10wheeler snow plows in Utah that are bathed in salt. When I go to service the Allison Transmission filters, all of the bolts look like your wheel bearing bolts in this video. All twelve bolts are 15mm heads, but a 14mm socket won't even start to grab them. Love all of your videos. Your content is truly geared to technicians.

Far up north, in the land of ice and snow and polar bears, the Canadian Tire store sell a set of these under their Mastercraft brand. They seem to do pretty damn good. My set has been chugging along for over fifteen years now. Although they lack the trash ejector idea. For the cheap version, you squeeze them in the vice and punch out the remains of the offending fastener. Fair warning though. A buddy of mine states the new ones might be made of a cheaper type of chinesium since he tells me his set seem to have lost some of their bite. Could be bad material, bad hardening or just a bad batch. In any case, always remember, there are always options. Some are better, some are not. Let your work and your wallet guide you.

That is one awesome socket. I may need to invest. That said some of the comments are shocked by the price. I will admit I haven’t priced them yet but here are a couple things to consider. The price of goods is only going up. If you do not work on vehicles for a living, I agree it may not be worth it to you to purchase for 1 or 2 bolts and then collect dust/trust in the toolbox. This is also why it costs to have a vehicle repaired CORRECTLY by a professional. The right toll gets t he job down much quicker usually. You don’t pay for the speed of the repair you pay for the experience the tech has gained to be able to do that repair in short time. Thanks for the video really enjoy watching your channel. 👍👍👍

A bit pricey for the shade tree, but for a pro in the rust belt, those are a must have. 3 minutes to remove those hub bolts or a half hour or more grinding, cutting, heating and swearing, add in a fried wheel sensor and a few rusty GM hub replacements later the tool set has paid for itself. And you know you are going to be doing GM hubs. Often.

A major part of being a good craftsman (mechanic, plumber, electrician, carpenter) is first to understand what it that you are trying to accomplish. After that, if you are lucky someone one can tell you the "trick" for doing what needs to be done (if you are unlucky, you will have to figure it out yourself). After completing the task a few times you will quite often realize that a specific tool would make the whole process much easier. You can tell the good craftspeople by how many tools they have and how much they like looking at new tools!
