I often get asked about how I find my sites, decide what to bring, and choose where to go camping. So here's a behind the scenes look into my ridiculously in-depth process for planning my camping trips, from start to agonizingly long finish.
I have a 50% off coupon for the Joulle kettle!
It expires 8/31/2023, so if you're thinking about one, jump on it.

I just wanted to apologize. I've been enjoying your videos for weeks and thought I had subscribed but I didn't! I've corrected that now. Thank you for your content. I'm a very new solo female camper so this information is helping me build the confidence to go more places!

Another tip: have a good detailed weather app so you can plan for weather and be aware of storms approaching you. Share your location (via Google Maps) with loved ones. Make sure to turn location on ALL the time. That way if something happens ON the way to your destination they will know better where you are at.
@ShoestringMartha
@ShoestringMartha Год назад
Yes! I usually turn it on just before I pull out. I could use a better weather app. The Apple one is meh. I use wunderground on desktop. I should see if they have an app. 🤔

Lol that would be *scandalous* to show! 😅 Half in the shed, some in the guest room closet, under the guest room bed, and the mini kitchen lives in my closet 😂 It was supposed to all be stored in the shed, but it’s just too hot out there 🔥

Lots of great ideas! I’ve never heard of the motor vehicle use map, so I’ll have to check if there’s one for Minnesota. State parks, COE campgrounds and NFS campgrounds are all I’ve used so far. Kids, friends and I just got back from 6 days in the Boundary Waters, so food and equipment planning is necessary.
@ShoestringMartha
@ShoestringMartha Год назад
That sounds lovely! Planning camping trips with a group is a whole other level of complexity, to avoid gear overlap, and those, "oh I thought you were bringing firewood" whoopsie moments.

As always great Video Kori! I am just a throw the shit in the vehicle and go type a gal…..I always buy to much food though so planning meals is something I need to consider, but grab and groat is often the choice. Snackle boxes is next on my list of easy food stuff. One that stays and fits in my tiny fridge and one that can stay out.
@ShoestringMartha
@ShoestringMartha Год назад
I often wish I could be a fly-by-the-seat-of-your-pants type, but I just have too much anxiety. 😅 Love snackleboxes, and they will definitely be featured in the no-cook camping meals video I have on my to-do list, for whenever I get around to it. 😄

LOL I probably should have mentioned another reason that I plan so early -- as you indicated, you basically HAVE TO -- if you want a spot, especially at a popular campground.

Thank you! I probably wouldn't be the best teacher for it, as I only use about 3 functions (lists, bookmarks, and tables). The good news is, there are a lot of really fantastic Notion teachers on RU-vid. I looked at a few, and found this one to be pretty easy to understand. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IrIAmq80VEE.html

USDA also has dispersed camping especially in the Plains. NCA (National Conservation Areas) "may" have some areas, like NM and ND. In Kansas, they have MANY lakes designed for fiahing, but camping is also allowed. Nebraska is $$ and police-y and workers are rude. Federal Parks in Nebraska are much better with better amenties than the State areas.

Thank you!! LOVE YOUR VIDEOS❤❤

Not at all a dumb question! It may be different on Android, but on iPhone, to get the satellite view, look for an icon that looks like two sheets of paper in a stack. It's just below the search field and to the right. Tapping that icon will bring up "Map Types," where you can select "Satellite". "Terrain" is sometimes useful too, if you want to get an idea of any mountains or any other nearby elevation. Hope this helps!
