DIY, camping, and gardening - all on a tight budget, with health, ease, and sustainability in mind.
We'll cover everything from SUV camping in a 5th gen 4Runner, to building a stunning outdoor kitchen, or a home gym on the back patio, cheapo garden hacks, upcycle projects, even a little foraging.
Based in Phoenix, Arizona -- so all our gardening info is about 3 months earlier than the rest of the country, and there's a lot of complaining about the heat.

I'm in North Texas, and in think we have the Velvet Mesquite here. The pods look just like the ones in your video. It grows where here all over the place. I'm already planning to pick some thos year. Gonna do drink out of them. 😁
Thank you!! It's like the saying goes, "cheap - fast - good: pick any two." This project is a "cheap" and "good," but definitely not "fast." 😂 Keep at it!
@@ShoestringMartha My hubby opted for the Espresso Machine Basket Plus because he is not a fan of the pods. I think he would love this too. Can't wait to try it out on our next camping trip. Thanks again for posting and sharing all the fun products!
Thank you for differentiating "cottage" pie from "shepherd's" pie. In Great Britain regions shepherd's pie would always be made most likely from lamb or mutton, as cattle were working animals that would not be slaughtered as a general food source. And don't get me started on "Chilean Sea Bass"...😊
Another solid video, Just straight to the point with everything! We released a portable jump starter. Can we invite you to do a review? We have emailed for an inquiry.
Great trip, and thanks for the explanations. I didn't think after Moab to continue to Denver, because of the distance, now I'm convinced it's worth it. I wanted to know, how many days is the route in total?
Thank you! It was 3 days out (because of the detour to Las Vegas), and 2 days back, driving an average of 6 hours a day. We did the trip again recently, skipping Las Vegas and stopping in Moab, going both directions. That was 2 days each way, with Phoenix-Moab being a little over 7 hours.
Those are bruchid beetle bore holes. I typically store them in a ventilated container for a few weeks to allow any possible hitchhikers to escape. If any are still in there after that, they’re not harmful.
Those pour over coffee filters with wings are what I use at home everyday. I love them. I need to fit the back of my e trike with a travel kitchen. Always searching for great ideas. Thanks for the demo.
Well, if I weren’t already subscribed, I wouldn’t be able to hit that subscribe button fast enough! Making my mouth water! I can’t wait to try GF versions of these! Awesome and creative! Thanks!!
Great video…been binge watching all of them :) would you be willing to share pictures of the camping list you use? I would love to have something similar for my set up…at least the template. My procrastination is getting the best of me lol
Thank you! Here is the Notion doc. It's a little outdated, as I pretty much go from memory now, but it might be a good start. Also, it's clearly tailored to my particular needs -- with all the AV stuff included 😄 rose-vertebra-7d1.notion.site/Pre-Flight-0dcfa34cea154d019c1fa8b659a63db9?pvs=4
This is the second video I’ve watched of yours. First of all I love your name. Secondly that you’re brutally honest. And third, that you can be so hilarious describing your coffee makers with a straight face. You made my day Shoestring!
I am a coffee nerd, and I fully endorse your approach! I may go for plastic mason jars for travel because I drop things with my old hands. I love glass myself, but I’m also afraid of glass breaks while on the road.✌️❤️☕️🍪🚐
I lived/worked in Chandler for 17 years. Your videos are bringing back memories and nostalgic feelings. I regret I didn't get out more while I was younger and able. Good for you for doing as much as you can.
So happy to find you! Gleaning through your contents is quality time. Deeply grateful for your shared experiences. What a lovely life it is, and your company is much appreciated.
“Nice try buddy - finish your work!” made me belly laugh. Thanks for another fun, relaxing and informative video. I use the paper filters from Temu as well, but have been thinking about getting something a lil’ fancy schmancier….😂 Went on an amazing campout this week overlooking the Aussie bush, but after a beguiling afternoon of sun it rained and rained and rained and everthing turned to mud. It was sort of like discovering the most beautiful partner of your dreams, only to find out they are actually a mean old Tasmanian Devil. 😅 Being able to brew a warm coffee in the pouring cold morning rain saved the day!
Great video again covering coffee making for all lazy peeps like me! I like the KUJU for simplicity and recently bought the Yeti French Press and I gotta tell you it’s easy to clean and make enough coffee for 4 adults at camp. For me the inside filter ones were a disaster bc I always kept pouring until it all spilled out. I have video evidence unfortunately. 😂 I hope you are on the mend. 😊
Feeling much better now, thank you! We all have a typical coffee faux-pas. Mine is knocking over anything that balances on top of the cup. I've done it countless times with the phin and the pourover cone. I'm like a bull in a china shop, in a confined space.
Geez! Finally you get the drone up in the spectacular setting and we get so little footage! 😩 Ah… so disappointed! You may see this vantage often but it is one I have never seen in person. Hoping later you give us some beautiful drone footage. Been watching you a while and honestly love your channel much more with your side kick, Gunther. Can’t help it. Dogs make everything better. Happy trails and tails
So sorry! Every time I fly or attempt to fly, I find there is something else I need to learn. That time, I realized I don't know how to aim the camera down. I could only see straight forward. 😑 I was also terrified I was going to crash it in the ravine. 😅 Next time, for real -- hopefully.
@@ShoestringMartha I can only imagine the terror of setting it loose over that expanse! Please know I am not chastising you. I was just so excited to see. Enjoy what you do and getting a gander at Gunther gives me a doggie fix. Happy Trails
