So true. I look at videos on the net and see these crazy and sometimes dumb comment treads of nothing but unending hatred. But i wonder sometimes if i should ever try to dive in as a person in the middle and share something to help stop it, or would it be pointless that these people are drowned in ignorance and hatred to care.
I dealt with a lot of haters in my life. First, I was mocked endlessly on a facebook page when a photographer from a big anime company wanted to take my picture with another cosplayer for their page. I was cosplaying as Goku. I was flattered! And then....all most all the comments were mocking my cosplay. My hair looked stupid, I looked fat, and THIS and THAT...and tons of mean nasty things. Now, I was crushed by all the cruelty. What did I do wrong? I know I don't look jacked like Goku is. I'm in decent shape, but I'm not built like that. And I was doing the best I could! I made steps since then, I lost weight, and made my cosplay better...still what this was to me was heartbreaking. Now, the moderators on the FB page came forward and told the haters to knock it off. They said they liked my cosplay, and think I did a great job. After all, if they didn't like my cosplay, they would've never taken my picture, right? A year later, I met the man who took my photo, and thanked him in person for sticking up for me. "That was very big of you. We need more people like that to stand up to others who are just jerks." I said.
Just like the creators of Teen Titans Go and Thundercats Roar will never understand it, since some episodes are done because they are unable to ignore the haters (which is the rabid part of the group who don't like the shows).
Never in my years of being a Veteran Fan of Toonami since Moltar would I ever thought Tom would speak on such a Topic.. I quit watching Toonami when it ended in 2011 or so.. That's wild they actually brought it back and have him new and improved. This is what I tell the younger generation to look at... Guess Adult Swim saved the day this time.
There is a first rule about this, "Always RESPECT Toonami". And I can tell you, the haters will understand that there are consequences for hating Toonami. And remember this, those who would dare hate Toonami will be punished. I mean, after all, we all LOVE Toonami so much and that's why I devoted myself to SUPPORT Toonami for as long as I can. And I expect that all of you will do the same as I am. Oh, and take my advice to those haters, if haters gonna hate Toonami, they will be sent to HELL.
Seems like an inspirational speech, with way to cope with the hate, I for one don't let haters stray my conviction of what show I want to watch, what story I want to read, or what video game I want to play. If only other can understand. Though, here's question, what if you like a tv series whether is anime or cartoons, but other people hate a certain episiode(s) of that show with a passion?
Bear in mind that Cowboy Bebop aired non-stop on Adult Swim for FOUR YEARS before Toonami re-replaced the block. Same amount of time as Ghost in the Shell. It has nothing to do with the quality of the show; it was just time to move on. Bonus notation: Tom's voice actor, Steven Blum, was Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop. He's got a particular affinity for that series. Bang.
Just because you dislike something, it doesn't mean your a "hater." You would only be a hater if you try to put the creator down specifically because it's his or her work. Remember criticism is good, hating is bad.
@ 0:40 ...Only the people that watched Toonami until it stopped airing know what he's talking about when he says "When it comes to haters, old Tom learned his lesson awhile ago. You can't let 'em get to you."
he really does like understand or not he's telling nothing but the truth understand this is a guy that's successful something where not he's just trying to help
Viva Toonami....to all haters, just when you though it would be canceled a month after it's relaunched.......WERE BACK AND STILL HERE!!!! Keep Hatin Haters, I'll keep watching Adult Swim, ONLY FOR Toonami
I understand a lot of people are saying it's just I get criticism to like who's cooler? Sonic the Hedgehog or Shadow the Hedgehog? Or which one is a better anime Dragonball Z or Pokemon?
So ironic how relevant this is with all the 'haters' Toonami got for their Black Lives Matter message lmao. This speech was a little bit ahead of its time.
Toonami is possibly the one thing on TV that listens to its viewers. I mean am I wrong? They blatantly come out with things like this and other ads saying "we do it for you/cause we love you" I mean, the guys running this genuinely care
Changed my mind. THIS is the comment I will use as an example of "irony". Yes, some people are quick to say anyone who disagrees with them is a hater. But TOM makes it pretty clear -well, to me and many others at least- that he's NOT doing that. He makes a distinction. Maybe you should watch it again?
I have a high HIGH feeling their going to release Mirai Nikki on Toonami before it goes on DVD and when they do....I will be fucking Breathless, Pick whatever time to show it.....I'll be there and so will alot of others as well.
Toonami, the ONE good call Cartoon Network has made since they changed their logo. It's a good sign that MAYBE, JUST MAYBE, Cartoons on Cartoon Network will become funny again( Adventure Time has it's moments, but just doesn't hit the same spot as Samurai Jack or Powerpuff Girls)
"No one likes". I concur, alot of people enjoy Bleach. Seems to be the case with Samurai 7 as well. And "damn the criticism" Like he said. Criticism and hate are two different things. I've been knowing this before this then.
But maybe that's all they can afford right now, give them some time and hopefully they'll throw good Animes in from Sentai, Viz, and Maybe Media Works, plus Bandai....If it ever resurfaces in the states again that is.
Yeah.....but then again this isn't the only series that has that kinda thing....and besides they might wind up cutting scenes from it just like they did in deadman
