Oh man, I miss Toonami Rising Sun so badly. I remember waking up earlier on Saturdays to get the lawn mowed so I could catch the Garlic Jr. Saga of DBZ.
When I was a kid I didn't know half of what was going on in DBZ. They aired 3 timelines at once Toonami, Midnight Run and Rising Sun. Then there were the movies that had nothing to do with the actual story line. I think I was around 12 or 13 When the Kid Buu arc finally came to a close. By that time I had seen every episode a few times and the story made a lot more sense.
The video makes it sound like its coming from a tube. The memory makes it sound loud and clear and like all my senses are engaged not as a tv bump, but as if i was on toms ship. And thats what makes these vids so damn moving and nostalgic
Amen..Toonami was SO badass..the greatest block of programming in TV HISTORY for my money! The only thing that stuck out like a sore thumb was the PPG...it obviously didnt ruin Toonami by the very furthest stretch of the imagination, but it was, to me, a blemish..an action yet still non-anime show that they could have done without.
