Fun fact: junji ito didn’t want uzumaki to be adapted into an anime. He was extremely hesitant until he actually met up with the studio manager and saw first hand what it’d be like.

For everyone wondering when will this release now, it got delayed again to 2023 (from what I've heard at least). I still wish they'd update us on what's going on rather than just keep us in the dark. Hopefully this will be worth all the waiting otherwise this will suffer the same fate as the previous Junji Ito anime adaptation. Edit: A PREVIEW JUST DROPPED TODAY AS OF JULY 23RD. The thing that's so incredible about Uzumaki it manages to scare people not because of the gore, but instead the premise being terrifying as hell.

I Love how the music is not overly dark or ominous like one would expect from a horror anime. Infact it has a happy tune to it but it's still unsettling. And the longer you listen to it, the more it spirals into madness. The song is spiraling

that "u... zu... ma... ki..." at the end is gonna haunt my dreams ok i just kind of remembered this comment and video and it got me thinking a lil bit lol when i wrote this i didnt rly know much abt Uzumaki or Junji Ito's work in general, if i remember right i think at this time id only ever read The Enigma of Amigara Fault recently tho ive gotten a lot more into his work, and i recently finished reading Uzumaki (which i absolutely loved btw, im super excited to se this anime adaptation when its released) and im currently in the process of reading Tomie (which i also love so far) but anyway- i just thought it was kinda cool looking back at this now that ik a lot more abt it, also re-watching the teaser after reading the manga changed my perception of it so much, it went from "oo, this looks cool" to "dude this looks so awesome! i cant wait for it to be released!" anyways, that concludes me rambling abt this lmaoo

Everyone talking about the music but can we just appreciate how fluid yet eerie this animation and art style is? They could’ve just put colors all over and made some inbetweens here and there but they actually chose to retain Itos way of drawing. The music‘s also great btw

For people upset that this is going to be in black and white, I personally think that this is a good thing. Junji himself has added colors to his illustrations in recent mangas, and maybe it was just the very simplistic watercolor style he used, but it looked worse. Perhaps his work, if colored with just as much detail as his line work, could be amazing, but from what I've seen it makes the drawings look flatter and less.... real.

Uzumaki is my all time favorite manga. I have been a fan of Junji Ito’s work for a while now. Considering what happened the last time with Junji Ito’s short stories getting animated, I lost a lot of hope. But I have to say, sticking the the black and white theme like an actual Manga was a very good call. The music was perfect for this trailer. The music itself gave very unsettling feeling and I don’t think that there is another song that could’ve done it better. And the animation is beautiful. The character design and the scenery is on point. My favorite scene was the water view. If you look at the way the water was moving it kinda looked like the water was breathing. I am afraid to have high hopes again for another Junji Ito adaptation but looking at the trailer says a lot. I can’t wait.

This 1 1/2 minute trailer took 8 years to produce but hey, as long I’m just happy that they aren’t putting anything mediocre out. All those shades of grey are being hand painted with magnified glasses for every frame by a heart surgeon with one eye. It’s good to see everyone understanding that quality takes time. Can’t wait to see another teaser in 12 years

The music in this trailer reminds me a LOT of the soundtrack for Heriditary-- so fucking perfect for the kind of horror Junji Ito makes.

I love how the vocals step a bit out of control, just a tiny bit out of tune and labored, like they’re running out of breath, it’s so good, and the way that it starts out sounding pleasant but gradually devolves into something uniquely unnerving, aided by the visuals, just Wow

This song is almost like a siren. Creepy and unsettling yet captivating in a way. Better yet, more like a spiral, unraveling more and more but I'm addicted to it.

We are so very close to this. I personally never hear of this until a friend showed me and now my hair is standing and the goosebumps are thriving I can not wait any longer.

I've watched this like, 50 times. I hadn't even read Uzumaki but seeing this trailer encouraged me to binge through it and it's now easily my favorite horror media of any kind. Super pumped to see this take off in 2021

The choice to make the adaptation black and white is very fitting. There are no happy endings or moments of genuine joy. Just an endless looping spiral.
