One more thing regarding door glitching, I'm pretty sure pressing the down key helps push you forwards and through the door, since the game detects you as clipping through the door and tries to send you back in bounds, and tries sending you in the opposite direction of your inputs to prevent you from clipping. Your input in this case, down, helps send you forward and through the door.

Wow this is in depth and much appreciated, I did a simplified experiment on this a few years ago and concluded that longs were worse but here I’m learning glitches and cheeky skips I’d never considered!

Excellent vid. I can't do side shorts because my ubers' laff are too low for the side entrance laff requirement, but I'll be implementing some of the other tips to shave off a few seconds each run.

Since I do a lot of solo factories, I timed things to see what was more efficient. First, I timed myself soloing a short factory twice, using fogs on all the battles before the silos for speed, and I included the time to get gags in between. Then I timed myself soloing a long factory twice, using lure on all battles except for 3 where I used fogs for a one-round kill, and I also included the time to get gags in between. I got 2 shorts done in 20 minutes, earning 960 merits, or 48 merits per minute. I got 2 longs done in 34 minutes, earning 1552 merits, or 45.6 merits per minute. So for soloing, shorts do seem a little bit more efficient.

Very neat. Definitely going to use some of the tips you shared. As for the routes, I've actually devised my own focused on run count instead of actual time spent. This is mainly because it's difficult to find Toons willing to deviate from the norm, so the fewer groups you need to find, the better. Also, I'm surprised to see the pipe room skip existed before the hitbox update! With the update, the skip has become much easier to execute.

This is such good advice! Too bad almost every group I run factories with there's a 110+ laff that uses a trumpet on the final 3 battles... maybe they should watch this video and see that it's okay to use a trunk or fog lol

In clash people are definitely doing it wrong. In clash you can split up and as long as you are all in the Foreman battle you will get merits for the whole factory even for the cogs you didn't destroy. When I mention this to ppl they are shocked

Wow I’ve been doing this strategy the whole time and wondering why no one was doing it.

This is great only problem is I would have to solo quick shorts and side shorts, so many toons out there r still wanting to do long factories, if only this video gets more noticed by other people

Wow, I thought it was impressive that I maxed VP 3 weeks after just making a toon because Laff O-Lympics so I breezed through the tasks quick but adding maxing VP on top of everything I thought was such a feat but now I see it could of gone even faster. I did realize that shorts are more efficient & I did stock sound almost exactly replicating your spread but I had a lot of other stuff going on too so it's not like it took me 3 weeks to make it to level 50, it took me 3 weeks to clear the task line, get 2 laff boosts in golfing, 2 in racing, gardening every day I could until it was pointless because the amount of time I had would not give me any additional laff boosts so I did stop once I got what I could out of it, & of course there's fishing. Took me longer than 3 weeks to reach 115 laff due to the fishing because I had to wait for the bamboo rod to arrive. Still, I felt proud of how quickly I maxed VP & then you show off this amazingness & I'm like there's so much more I could of done to make it go even faster. Well, whenever next Laff O-Lympics is, I'll be sure to use these tips. In general, I don't mind slowly going through building up my suit given in TTO, I was soundless & from 2004-2013, I never maxed VP. I was a Hollywood level 20-something but I just kinda did whatever I felt like doing once I finished the task line & then finished it again & again & again. I finished it the first time before CBHQ even opened up to explain the agains. Since I had lots of playtime in TTO under my belt, I went into TTR knowing things & was more efficient but nothing like this, I'm not competitive & I don't have a drive to do things as efficient as possible but when on a time crunch & needing to max VP in a jiffy, yeah, totally will utilize this knowledge plus will go ahead with this when with someone who'd rather rush it.

Actually you are also wrong. 11 shorts is still not the most efficient way to grind 5500 merits. The most efficient way is to do 5 Side Shorts and 5 Medium Routes. The Medium Route is basically the SS but you stop at the boiler room to kill the 3 cogs there, then proceed to the warehouse as normal. This adds less than 1 minute to the factory run because you can initiate battle with the Boiler room cogs before opening the door. Side entrance routes are the best because they don't require you to do a lot of inefficient running like the front entrance routes.

They really removed side shorts man. What a bummer lol. Factories are now so boring.
