Heath Ledger as Joker, Keanu Reeves as The One, Keanu Reeves as John Wick, Robert Englund as Freddy Krueger, Josh Brolin as Thanos, Wesley Snipes as Blade.
Did you know, that "I'll be back" originally comes from Czech(oslovakia) movie "Lemonade Joe"? Actually, full sentence is: "I'll be back, Doug Badman, and with me, with me will come the LAW!" :-))
I be back (no try again) I be back! (No) I’ll be back! (No…wait that’s it!!) I be back!!! (It’s ok we got it on recording, we just use it as a voice over)
I've heard many times that on the many movies Robin Williams starred in, the crew would end up just letting him riff when he got on a roll... which was pretty much all of the time. His improvisational skills were top notch. A true legend
So it's no wonder that Robin was practically perfect for every role he was in, Sometimes he knew what the character would say and do even better than the scriptwriters themselves!
Cristoph Waltz as Hans Landa. Imagine finding an actor who not only can deliver a perfect performance but was also already fluent in the three languages required. His performance was chilling. I felt anxious, nervous and already defeated even though I don't know anything yet 😅
Tim Curry as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Also, Richard Dawson as corrupt game show host Damon Killian in The Running Man was an absolutely brilliant bit of casting.
they themself leaked the footage because they had a very limited budget for a trailer and the trailer was so successful that FOX finally gave them the green light. i saw a latenight show where Ryan Reynolds talked about it.
Bruce Willis as John McClane in the Diehard series. About as perfectly cast and iconic as it gets...and the first one is my favorite Christmas movie. 😂
Absolutely. Especially when you consider the other actors that were offered the role first, Stallone, Frank Sinatra, Richard Gere, Burt Reynolds etc. Bruce nailed it, couldn't imagine anyone else as McClane.
Thank you for calling Die Hard a Christmas movie. Just like It's A Wonderful Life or Miracle On 34th Street, only with a little more violence and swearing.
One actor I personally thought was perfect for the role, was Sam Neil as Alan Grant, from Jurassic Park. He doesn't nearly get as much credit as he should. Everything about him and his character just screams dinosaur expert. It's like he IS Alan Grant, and completely 100 percent dedicated to the role.
Johnny Depp-Jack Sparrow (c'mon......pirate attire AND black eyeliner? Hell's yeah!!!!!) Robin Williams-Genie, Mrs. Doubtfire Christopher Lloyd-Doc John Travolta-Vince Vega Eddie Murphy-Donkey Josh Gadd-Olaf Michael Keaton-Beetlejuice Samuel L. Jackson-Frozone
Fun Fact: Deadpool actually cast himself. In a Cable and Deadpool comic, he's briefly asked about his looks under the mask, and he describes himself as "if Ryan Reynolds was bitten by a radioactive Shar-pei".
i'm sure that was the comic writers acknowledging how reynolds' humor and delivery so closely mirrors deadpool's. you can see it in some of his earlier movies like "just friends" and "van wilder." he got the part because he's got the mouth that "the merc with a mouth" needs.
Ryan Reynolds talked in an interview about his time in Blade: Trinity. Apparently during production, Reynolds was trying to find some motivation for his character of Hannibal King. A studio exec handed Reynolds a stack of Deadpool comics and basically said to portray Wade as if he was real. After reading, Reynolds basically felt he was perfect for the role of Deadpool.
I think Christopher Reeve deserves more than a honorable mention! I may be biased, he was the first celebrity that I found shares my birthday....so he has a special place in my heart!! Definitely need a part 2.
Liam Neeson as Oscar Schindler: He is way too handsome for that role, but damn did he act the shit out of it! Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow: No comment needed Mel Gibson as William Wallace: He had the proper amount of grit, depth and insanity for this semi-fictional role Arnold Schwarzenegger as Terminator: The flat delivery with the unnatural(non-Anglo) accent just fit right in Also: There are two types of people: Those who think of Harrison Ford as Han Solo, and those who think of him as Indiana Jones.
Harrison Ford is versatile enough to play just about anything. A highly underrated role: as Allie Fox in The Mosquito Coast (1986). Should have gotten an Oscar for that one.
In no particular order, Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice; Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, Danny DeVito as The Penguin; Patrick Stewart as Professor X, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine; Heath Ledger as The Joker, Ron Perlman as Hellboy; Kelsey Grammer as The Beast, Tom Hiddleston as Loki; and of course Chris Hemsworth as Thor. There's your next Top 10.
Julie Andrews is practically perfect in every way for Mary Poppins. Just as well that Audrey Hepburn got cast in My Fair Lady instead, as it freed up Julie to win an Oscar.
Meryl Streep was suppose to play Ellen Ripley in Aliens. At least the studio wanted her in the movie. She turned it down because her boyfriend John Cazale was dying. So Ridley Scott got his first choice, which was Sigourney Weaver. It was a perfect choice. Also Weaver and Streep were classmates.
speaking of meryl streep, though, she should get a mention for playing miranda priestley in "the devil wears prada." absolutely flawless casting there.
For me, Viggo Mortensen as Aragorn. I think everyone in that movie was cast incredibly well, but for some reason, Viggo just stood out to me as the perfect person to play that role. I just can't imagine how that trilogy would have worked had they not gotten rid of Stuart Townsend, who got the part originally.
We could never imagine anyone replacing these amazing actors in their legendary roles. Man I always loved Christopher Reeve as Superman legit looked like the hero too
Ripley, in the Alien movies, is absolutely timeless. Those first 2 movies could have been made this year and when I go back and watch the second one especially, I’m shocked at how Before It’s Time it is.
Thomas Jane As The Punisher! Jonathan Breck As The Creeper From Jeepers Creepers! Heath Ledger As The Joker! Hugh Jackman As Wolverine! Arnold Schwarzenegger As T-800!
There are so many cases of actors being perfect for roles you'd need a top 50 list minimum to cover them all. Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump Cillian Murphy - J. Robert Oppenheimer Cillian Murphy - Tommy Shelby Christian Bale - Patrick Bateman Rami Malek - Freddie Mercury Taron Egerton - Elton John Matt Damon - Mark Watney Hugh Jackman - Wolverine Leonardo DiCaprio - Jordan Belfort Patrick Stewart - Jean-Luc Picard Daniel Radcliffe - Harry Potter Al Pacino - Tony Montana Robert De Niro - Travis Bickle Russel Crowe - Maximus Adrian Brody - Wladyslaw Szpilman Javier Bardem - Anton Chigurh Uma Thurman - The Bride Ralph Fiennes - Julian Slowick Bradley Cooper - Chris Kyle Eddie Redmayne - Stephen Hawking Bryan Cranston - Walter White Sean Connery - James Bond The entire cast of Friends The entire cast of Lord Of The Rings And more
I know he isn’t on the list, but I’d say that Ian McKellen was born to play Gandalf and boy did he nailed it. As much as he did a good job as Magneto, that is nothing comparing to his powerful performances as one of the powerful wizards in Middle Earth.
Michael Keaton as Batman. Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode. Mel Gibson as Mad Max and Martin Riggs. Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross. Toby Maguire as SpiderMan. Roy Schider as Martin Brody. Jeff Bridges as Rooster Cogburn. Michael Douglas as Jack Colton. Eddie Murphy as Axel Foley. Frances McDormand as Marge Gunderson. Gene Hackman as Popeye Doyle. Bruce Willis as John McLane. Kurt Russell as Snake Pliskin. Denzel Washington as Alonso Harris. George Clooney as Seth Gecko.
I'm truly astonished you didn't include Clark Gable as Rhett Butler. MGM got a lot of PR mileage out of promoting a huge hunt for just the right actress to play Scarlett O'Hara, but fans of the original novel Gone with the Wind knew for certain, the moment they heard there was going to be a film adaptation, that only one actor could bring the Rhett character to life.
It's a small role, but Gary Oldman as Lee Harvey Oswald in JFK is a bit of casting genius. Honorable mentions to Willem Dafoe as Count Orlok in Shadow of the Vampire and Humphrey Bogart as both Sam Spade and Philip Marlowe.
Patrick Stewart as Professor X. The single biggest no-brainer casting in Hollywood history. Seriously, that role was cast as early as 1987. It was just a matter of who would be directing him in the role.
I feel Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrown is very underrated here. He was great playing as the genius Imperial officer in both Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: Ahsoka Season 1.
Mary Poppins was BEFORE The Sound of Music. As a matter of fact, Julie Andrews took time off from the filming of TSOM to accept her Best Actress Oscar for MP.
Sound of Music was released one year after Mary Poppins. Julie was pregnant at the time she was cast as Mary Poppins, and Disney was adamant to wait for her to be available. Sound of Music went into production shortly after Mary Poppins wrapped and the director also had Julie in mind, so he acquired raw footage of Mary Poppins before he eventually decided to cast her. It is also notable to mention that Mary Poppins was Julie Andrews' feature film debut.
BEST CASTING FOR FOR TV: #1 John Nobles as Walter Bishop (Fringe), #2 Antony Starr as Homelander (The Boys), #3 Brian Cranston as Walter White (Breaking Bad), #4 Kieran Culkin as Roman Roy (Succession), #5 Giancarlo Esposito as Gus Fring (Breaking Bad), #6 Tom Hiddleston as Loki (MCU/Loki), #7 Ruth Wilson as Mrs Coulter (His Dark Materials), #8 Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute (The Office), #9 Amin Joseph as Unc/Jerome Saint (Snowfall), #10 Mariska Hargity as Olivia Benson (Law & Order SVU). ** Notable mentions**: Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy (Modern Family), Bob Odenkirk as Saul Goodman (Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad), Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker (Modern Family), April Bowlby as Rita Farr (Doom Patrol), Wilson Bethel as Dex/Bullseye (Daredevil), Uzo Aduba as Crazy Eyes/Susan (Orange is the New Black), Jamie Campbell Bower as One/Henry Creel/Vecna (Stanger Things) just to name a few other actors who were perfectly casted for their TV roles!
Some that you missed: Sean Connery as James Bond in Dr No. Julia Roberts as Vivian in Pretty Woman. Antonio Banderas as Zorro in The Mask of Zorro. Sylvester Stallone as John Rambo in First Blood. Marisa Tomei as Mona Lisa Vito in My Cousin Vinny. Chadwick Boseman as The Black Panther in The Black Panther. Bruce Wilis as John McClane in Die Hard. Jim Carrey as The Mask in The Mask. Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. Christopher Loyd as Dr Emmet L Brown in Back to the Future. And..Sir Patrick Stewart as Porffessor Charles Xavier in X-Men.
OK besides One flew over the coco nest, and Silince of the Lamb, I have seen the others. And the exception of the first 2 honorable mentions, I agree with the list but not really the order, first off JK actually mentioned after the first movie she basically based Snape after Rickman, and I can't remember if it was in a game or comic Deadpool actually mentions how Ryan Reynolds would be playing him in the movies years before the movie came out.
Not only Nicholson was brilliant in the One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, but also the others, which is why it was so successful. It primarily required Louise Fletcher, but Brad Dourif, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd and the others all contributed.
Totally agree with RDJ as 1 because even he stated he was losing the line between Robert and Tony even in his every day life. My only thing is how do we miss Hugh Jackman as Wolverine? Dude was literally brought back into a different cinematic universe because they just can't find anyone who does it better than him.
Jennifer Garner as Jenna Rink - 13 Going on 30! A light, rom-com sure but a favorite of mine and my daughters. A guaranteed laugh, delight and popcorn party!
Hi watch mojo. Thought id mention that you forgot Hugh Jackman that played wolverine. The actor played the iconic character for at least 10+years. Think he deserves some recognition
Michael J Fox - Marty McFly Bruce Willis-Die Hatd Humphrey Bogart--Casablanca Val Kilmer … The Doors Sylvester Stallone ….Rambo, Rocky Laurence Fishburne….The Matrix Tom Hanks - Forrest Gump
Jim Carrey as The Grinch - The Grinch (2000), Hugh Jackman as Wolverine - X-Men franchise (2000 - ), Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man - Spider-Man franchise (2002 - ) and J.K Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson - Spider-Man franchise (2002 - )
Viggo Mortenson as Aragorn. Most of the trilogy was cast well but thank God for the switch to Viggo. I will add about Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow - he really originated the role. Not just the character but everything. Jack Sparrow really wasn't much before the movies came out. So, while he was perfect, there was nothing to really model after so he did his thing.
Ah yes-Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka was such an iconic part of my childhood! He will always be Willy Wonka to me! Although I’ve yet to check out Timothee Chalamet-it looks like he’s playing the younger version of Gene’s Willy which makes me happy.
There's no way Christopher Reeves should be an honourable mention. Without him, there'd be no superhero movies period. The Marvel & DC cinematic universes wouldn't exist furthermore be popular without him.
Samuel L. Jackson as Jules Winnfield (Pulp Fiction)..."It's the one that says bad motherf*cker" Dennis Hopper as Frank Booth (Blue Velvet)..."I'll f*ck anything that moves!! HAHAHAHAHA..." Angela Bassett as Tina Turner (What's Love Got To Do With It)..."Is that supposed to scare me, huh?" Sidney Poitier as Virgil Tibbs (Heat Of The Night)..."They call me MISTER TIBBS!" Joe Pesci as Tommy DeVito (Goodfellas)..."Funny how? I mean, funny like I'm a clown, I amuse you?”
