Kubo works a lot on bleach anime, he was very hands on. He hated hellverse and they ignored everything he wanted... So much that he is going to do a hellverse manga adaption. i cant wait to see it pan out

I am honestly surprised that Highschool DxD is not on this list considering that creator was upset with how Studio TNK started to deviate from source that he had to write spinoff volume correcting the timeline in light novels. So when Studio Passione took over for season 4, they literally retconned half of season 3 in first episode of season 4.

I'm surprised you didn't pick Tokyo Ghoul. The studio absolutely butchered the anime, which could've been one of the best ever.

For a moment I was afraid Kubo hated Bleach as a whole. But it was just the hell verse movie which I’m so relieved. I didn’t really like hell verse either because of the whole Kokuto being the true villain twist. I actually can’t wait to see how hell is actually portrayed when the anime returns

It must be so painful to create characters, work on a story, finally get acknowledgement, and then see your work butchered in adaptation by people who really didn't understand it.

I was waiting for the 2001 Fruits Basket to show up here. Until the remake was announced people were still asking why there was no second season despite its success and demand. I heard a lot about the behind the scenes drama. Mangaka and anime director clashed over everything, from the visuals and directing, to even the voice cast. That's why nobody reprised their roles in the Japanese version of the 2019 series.

I'm surprised Tokyo Ghoul didn't make the list, Sui Ishida had to be pissed how it was adapted from the source material. & How the Anime adaptation was all over the place.

Naoko Takeuchi, creator of Sailor Moon, was not a fan of the Sailor Moon Stars animé as her characters, the Sailor Star Lights were changed from solely female cross-dressers to women who physically became men to find their missing Princess Kakyuu/Princess Fireball. Had the animation studio kept it as simply cross-dressing girls, it wouldn't have hurt Ms Takeuchi so badly. 😞 It would also have been better to dub in the original run of the animé in the 1990's/early 2000's as the girls would have been dubbed in a similar way to the other series (having the romantic undertones softened), and we would have least had a proper ending. Hopefully the Sailor Moon Crystal animators will follow Ms Takeuchi's wishes far more closely. That being said, the Viz English Dub does at least cater for the animé's target audience, which is teenagers, and it doesn't babify it for little kids. I certainly think they've done a better job keeping to how the classic animé was shown in Japan many years ago.

Okay but the change for the protag in Classroom of the Elite actually made it better. It would have been your standard wholesome romp and basically another Baka and Test kind of deal. Otherwise I agree, a lot of the Horikita moments felt really random and dragged the plotlines off kilter, when we could have had a legitimately well rounded cast of interesting characters .

I've been waiting this list for a long time, I've always wanted to know what mangakas think of bad adaptations. Also the anime adaptation of record of ragnarok was the one that dissapointed me so much and broke my heart

But that is why I liked Classroom of the Elite. The whole "I want to make friends" crap is best for Saturday morning cartoons and our beloved Komi. The heartless tactician type is rarely a main protag and they need more like that

the Pandora Hearts 'anime' will forever be dead to me. between the crappy animation and the million things from the manga it could have covered and NOT ended the way it did with a nonsensical ending that didn't even remotely happen in the manga, Square Enix should be embarrassed by what they did to a beautifully written and illustrated series. I hope that if we ever get a new revamp of the anime it'll actually be a decent adaptation and no one lets SE anywhere near it

I was disappointed by High School DXD Born (Season 3). I enjoyed it at first but after it was over, I found out that TNK (the studio who worked on it) made the last 3 episodes and the ending non cannon (made up and not a part of the actual story) and the creator was never told it was happening. Once the creator found out , he fired TNK. Always run shit by the creator/ lead person before doing so.

Surprised that hellsing isn’t in. The original hell sing anime (not ova) was hated by Hirano so much that when he got all the DVD product samples from the anime company he didn’t bother to open them up and went straight to 2nd hand DVD store to sell all of them.

The biggest reason tomino had such a hard time with victory gundam was because at the time bandai bought sunrise and began to meddle with the production and make tomino do curtain things for the series because they only want it to be a way to sell toys and as a result tomino got so frustrated that furthered him going into a depresion.

If I remember correctly the author of Rurouni Kenshin was pissed at the OAV ending that killed off Himura in a very depressing way.

I heard that Craig McCracken didn't like the anime version of The Powerpuff Girls because it has nothing to do with its original source material. No wonder it was never released in America.

You knew we were off to a good start for the 90's Phantom Blood OVA when Dio had a lisp and Even Speedwagon was Removed!

You forgot to mention that Bandai (now Bandai Namco or Bamco for short) the parent company of Sunrise was severely meddling with Victory Gundam to the point where they had the episodes aired out of order just to show the cool mechs early on.

This is why I laugh at the Bleach fans who proclaim that the Hellverse Movie is objectively canon in spite of the fact that most of the ideas Kubo proposed were changed by the staff and Kubo even went on record to saying that he didn’t even want his name to be included in the credits of that movie. If Kubo wanted his name removed, I think that it seems way too presumptuous to assume that this movie is canon to the manga.

I'd be very surprised if the mangaka of promised Neverland absolutely hates not only the anime, but also the studio as a whole for completely fucking up the story

I was honestly expecting Sailor Moon to be in the list. For those who don’t know and go ahead and watch Unicorn of War because it’s in his channel. He revealed that Naoko Takeuchi hated the original anime for many things. According to her, the anime was made by men who believed they knew what women want, and she also said both they and Toei the company that made the anime and her editor were making her write the manga on a weekly basis. Meaning she had no breaks, no relaxing of any kind which would also explain why the manga felt rushed at times and she also revealed that she didn’t want to make more chapters of the manga and wanted to conclude the story with the Dark Kingdom story and all the guardians to die. But her editor and Toei wanted her to make more, so she reluctantly complied and it also explained the Makai Tree arc which is filler arc. She revealed she absolutely detested Helios’s design, as she said it was to easy for and that she had to hurry it up on the production for the fourth season. To make matters worse, she argued with the people behind the show as to why they made the Sailor Starlights male as clearly said only females can be guardians and expressed disappointment knowing that Sailor Cosmos wasn’t in the final episodes of the last season. So after the show end, they announced the live action show where she made sure she had full cooperation in its production. And when she announced she was going to be part of the Sailor Moon Crystal series, many were pleased to hear the news, but when she learned the negative reception Crystal was getting she was a bit surprised because she thought it was superior compared to the original. So there you have that’s what i researched, and like I said look to Unicorn of War and it says the same thing what I researched.

I was so happy they remade Fruba. From how they made Shigure seem like such a nice guy in the first adaptation. How they never showed all the zodiac. To the ending kinda just fell flat. It really needed the remake.

Bleach doesn’t deserve hate from people it’s a good anime

I liked High school of the Elite specially because the main character was so hellbent in using others to reach his goals. When I found the manga and read it a little my first thought was " who is this bland f ck"

Well personally I loved my weekly dose of ahiru no sora so when the author said that I was like damn 😬 My biggest issue was how long the matches felt. But idk the storyline was definitely my favorite thing about it (that and Sora). Well, besides them losing each time but that's on the author (I get that it's realistic given the state of their team but give me something). Anyway, I wish the author could work with the studio or something so I could get my season 2. I was so excited to watch nearly every week

Hopefully we'll get a top 10 or 20 list from WM of anime LOVED by their creators. One example of that is Nightow, the mangaka of Trigun, who came to really love the anime adaptation. What's particularly interesting about this is that before the anime adaptation came along, Nightow never got to finish the manga but the lead writer of the Trigun, who was a fan of the manga, wrote the episodes so that they'd cohere with Nightow's vision of the manga. And let me tell you Nightow was equally impressed.

Is it weird that I enjoyed ahiru no Sora? I mean sure it deserves better and I really wish it won't forgotten to time( still hoping for a second season). On a second note, the anime adaptation I was most desappointed with is Pandora hearts , especially that it is my favorite manga of all time and ESPECIALLY that vanitas no carte got a decent adaptation this year.

I have one, magical warfare. The creator of the light novel didn’t like the fact that the anime wasn’t so very well. They even admit it was a mistake adapting it.

Worst anime adaptation or a novel and manga series to me has to be Hachinan tte, Sore wa Nai Desho! The anime adaptation was really boring and just turned the whole thing into another isekai with an op Mc. No where near as funny or entertaining as the manga and light novels.

I mean…at least fruits basket had a happy ending with its author.

A friendly reminder that Yoshiyuki Tomino also does not have very high opinions about (the much revered) Zeta Gundam. I feel many people dismiss Victory Gundam because of its notorious reputation with its creator.

The only thing I hated about elite classroom is the annoying female lead who character is copy pasted and dull, bokurano was definitely disturbing tragedy for me but I absolutely loved the OP.

I do understand why the managka of fruits basket wants a remake since it's supposed 2 be a 100% faithful adaptation I still enjoy the 2001 version since it has it's over the top moments of comedy and the 🎶 and the soundtrack 2 the original is so beautiful I cannot hate it. It has a special place in my ❤ . but the remake is damn impressive and it did justice since some characters I want 2 c finally showed up.

For Classroom of the Elite, having a ice cold personality instead of a happy and friendly personality is what makes it the best, I hate MC that believes in the power of friendship, it set itself apart from other series that does that, I hope the MC in that show continues to be ice cold, it would be stupid if they change him from ice cold to friendly because that would just be too cliche and defeats the purpose of the entire show!

Love Hina. I hated the anime version, the manga was much more enjoyable. Also, Kare Kano (His and Hers Circumstances) is one of my most hated anime series! But thinking back, you can tell that towards the end no one gave two shits. While it was a good anime starting out, Dragon Half never made it past the first two episodes, that was so sad to see.
