Some solid choices. War of the Ring, Cosmic, and Netrunner were some of the first that came to mind for me. I would also add Civilization, Revolution: The Dutch Revolt, both designed by the late Great Francis Tresham. And one I have been playing lately is The Vote by Amabel Holland.
One asymmetric game that I enjoy is Disney Villainous. Not sure if you have played it, but each villain has their own unique set of sinning conditions that differ from every other play. It also is big on "take that", but again they are villains and so would go out of their way to mess with other villains! Thanks for the content!
Hey there Bryan, I haven't played Villainous yet, but hope to eventually. It makes sense for a game about villains to be "take that" heavy. Thank you so much for watching!
I really enjoy asymmetric games. I agree that teaching some of them can be a real buzzkill. Right now I’m trying to beat Spirit Island but we keep losing. Teaching new players how to use a totally unique character board from what everyone else is using is draining
Yeah that can be a really tough challenge with anyone especially when teaching more casual gamers. You need tons of patience and repitition. I guess that's why the world needs people like you and I Aaron. Thank you so much for watching!
Never played either one, but I have heard that Root is extremely asymmetric with different winning conditions. Have to try it out one day. Thanks for watching!
@@whenharrymetboardgames7 If you are at all a fan of asymmetry, playing Root is a must. The omission of Root in a discussion about asymmetric games is like a discussion about Science fiction films and not having seen Arrival or Inception. It (and Vast) set a new standard for how asymmetric a game can be all other games that would have been considered asymmetric in the past are now are kinda just "variable player powers" by comparison. It may not have been the first game to do asymmetry to that level (Coin games and Dune did it before) and it may not be the most asymmetric game ever (Vast is more asymmetric even) but Root is by far the most popular game with that high degree of asymmetry.
Hey there, thanks for the very thorough feedback. Your words have definitely nudged me closer to considering purchasing this game or at the least find someone else to play with. Thanks for watching!
I love Eldritch Horror and I agree. Only reason it did not make it to this list is because I avoided coop games for this particular list. Thanks for watching!
Coming in two months late to say WATERGATE!! Absolutely incredible 2 player asymmetric game. If anyone likes asymmetric games, this is a super fun one that plays under an hour and is fairly cheap
