try Reiko's Fragments! its a horror game on steam where the VR player is the main player who has to navigate a haunted house while avoiding a ghost while up to 8 people can join on their phones and control some atmospheric scares. the more people you play with, the less scary it is when you take turns playing. love your content Ben, keep up the good work!!
It should really be mentioned, a fairly new function to Steam called Remote Play Together will let you play these games with anyone on your friends list. They dont need to own the game, or anything to do with VR, just invite them to play and control the desktop portion of the game. You should def mention this Ben, there are folks out there with no one to play local coop games, this feature means they dont have to. Online couch coop ftw :)
You should maybe mention that IronWolf VR isn't just solo or asymmetrical. It's full multiplayer with several people manning various systems in the sub, with optional assists for solo play. I love the game and the devs are hard at work making a big open world game out of the original limited missions. I know that's not really the scope of the video but I'd hate people to get the wrong idea about such a great game.
How is GORN not on the list? Yes, GORN has a multiplayer "party" mode (local asymmetrical) VR vs Controllers and the Non-VR controls are pretty good when you get used to them.
Thanks for the suggestions Ben, I'll be grabbing quite a few of these, I wonder how the Oculus Link will work with this, I hope there won't be any latency issues.
Don't forget about Acron, Reiko's Fragments and Takelings House Party! Also though its not technically assymetric - The Take is a great Spy vs. Spy type game where you have to take turns in VR to hide/find stuff :)
Great video I really enjoy asymmetrical VR games as they are fun and you don't need two computers or two VR headsets, and I also like your VR icons i think they are really cool did you make them yourself?
Wow, I really liked the second and third games in your list. But, I’ve noticed that no one ever talks about gorn. Do people not know that it has an asymmetrical gameplay mode? Up to four players on game pad playing off against the vr player. It is really awesome, and all my friends love it.
I bought Mass Exodus and it's great fun but whenever I have more than one player on the PC the frame rate drops in the headset to make you a little sick over time.
Can you make a list of Games in sections, say Keyboard and mouse / Phone / Controllers for the other players. I find that more players lead to more fun, meaning controllers and phone like Acron is great.
Surprised that Payday 2 isn't on the list. I play with my friends, me and another friend use VR and the other 2 are on PC. Definitely fun to play and a good game to kill time with.
This is great Ben, thanks for the suggestions. I'm not sure if you made a video on this but I have a question. Are there any other asymmetrical online multiplayer games? I have a lot of friends who don't have a VR headset who play fps games a lot, and I was wondering if there was a shooter with mouse and keyboard but also has VR support. It would be really interesting to see someone in VR compete against someone using mouse and keyboard haha
@@BenPlaysVR Awesome. I bought a Valve Index recently and realized one of the best games I've played so far is actually a non vr game. The DOOM 3 BFG mod is so good. If you are making a video like that, I think it would be interesting to add in games like this that have a modded VR version with the potential to work in multiplayer, because I heard one guy got DOOM 3 VR BFG to work with one of his friends. Also GMOD has a VR mod which could be capable of being used with VR and non VR players.
Are any of these gamese playable online? I know the experience would likely not be as good but I doubt my graphics card is good enough for some of these (1060)
I have a 1060. There's a growing list of "VR + Desktop" multiplayer games in the JoinUsInVR.com Steam group that works through the Steam Remote Play Together (online) desktop conection. Come take a look!
damn the list got me real excited but then as I'm checking these games out, literally half of them are unplayable for me since they need Oculus/Vive/Index specifically
Heh at 6:53 my uncle made that game i'm so proud of my uncle because his fav youtuber Jacksepticeye played that game and my two other fav youtubers Node and Ctop
I kept waiting for you to mention Panoptic, especially since development of it has picked up again. I was disappointed not to see it, especially after seeing Mass Exodus show up.
I made a free VR survival horror game with google cardboard (which now was released as an open source project by Google, called cardboard sdk), for Android. If you want to try it out, this is a demo video, with a link in the description: VR Game Demo: "VR BeforeTheDawn": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-qwiJGiMXOHc.html GearVR seems that is not going to be supported in the future by new devices. I am not sure if with GearVR you can play Cardboard games straightaway, I supose that it may be possible given the device does only need a phone holder to work as an hmd. Mobile VR, as it is, seems to have two paths ahead: cardboard like solutions (if the framework evolves from being open source, like for example incorporating 6DOF with image processing from the camera) or OculusGo-like autonomous HMDs, based also on mobile technologies. With permission of Ben, if it is OK to mention it.
