I just bought my first T yesterday, an Avicularia avicularia. They are between 1-1.5in right now, so I'm assuming they are a juvie. Such a cutie, and I cannot wait for them to grow and let me know what their sex is lmao Their current hobby is testing all the hidey holes in their wooden centerpiece. I'm excited to see them web up the place when they are fully confident and feeling safe. Big thanks to you and the T community on RU-vid for shedding light on this hobby and helping beginners like me join the club. You and Dark Den in particular are very informative and reassuring for those who want to participate in tarantula keeping for the first time, and I think I have a spoiled little spider in the making ♡

My overlooked beginner tarantula is 100% the Aphonopelma Seemanni (Costa Rican Zebra) had mine for almost a year, she's been through hell honestly. Three rehouses, improper conditions, lack of food, escaping, handling and excessive heat/cold. Yet through it all she's finally in her final enclosure, found what makes her happy and can afford good food every week for her.

Hi, I'm from the UK. 🇬🇧😊😁. Loved this. Thank you. I'm new to this hobbist. My very first Tarantula I brought was a Gammostola Rosea. I brought her from a neighbour for £20.00. Not sure how long my neighbour had her, but I've had her for at least 3 - 3 & a half years. Since then, I've now acquired 5, more T's all Terrestrial. This was really lovely to watch your recommendations for different T's for beginners that were not the usual suggestions. I've always wanted to get an arboreal to add to my collection, and also dwaft T's but didn't know what T's to get? Glad you mentioned the Aphonopelma chalcodes beforehand! It seems like I never used to hear about them, but then all of a sudden everyone started singing their praises, and for good reason! I picked up my first sling about three or four years ago, and she’s still one of my favorites, even after picking up some more brightly colored T’s later on. A slow grower, but completely worth the wait! It’s insane to think that she’s just now starting to look like a genuine tarantula, while my Chromatopelma cyanopubescens and Brachypelma boehmei both started to shoot up in size nearly right away!

SO glad you suggest and explain about the less obvious T’s to start with. Thoroughly enjoyed this video, and thank you for describing each tarantula in such a caring way. 👍 BIG thumbs up.

Often overlooked because of it's really famous cousin, I loooove the P lugardi. In my opinion, they're the most docile baboon species--my top suggestion for beginners for their first baboon T.

I used to have arachnophobia due to an extreme case I had as a kid with my dad’s cobalt blue tarantula, but this year I have somehow did a complete 180 and now I love them! Tarantulas are so cool and I feel so special that you introduced my first ever owned tarantula, the Mexican fireleg! I have watched quite a few videos about tarantulas, and I always see stuff about the red knee, but I was so excited to see you discuss him. I absolutely love watching this guy move around and I decided to name him Pumpkin :)

Awww, versi is #1. My sling, Tribble, is my fave even over my gbb. He is very docile, slow and seems curious about what is going on around him. Very fun to watch while I am working.

DAAAMN DUDE! I am surprised Caribena Versicolor is on the 1st place! RIGHT now I was hesitating which one to get as my first one, Brazilian Blue or Caribena. Now I know the answer!

Yeaaah finally someone putting all the dwarves in his beginner list! Always been missing them! I feel like, for people that are getting into the hobby, and maybe have to overcome some degree of arachnophobia first, why not start with the tiny ones that trade a fearsome size for pure fluffy cuteness? My favourite dwarf species is cyriocosmus perezmilesi, it's one of the T's I handle for show whenever someone wants me to help against fear. Anyhow, your list contains so many of my want-to-have spiders! Name davus pentaloris (getting one soon), ybyrapora diversipes (freakin' expensive) or aphonopelma calcodes (may be an everyday-seen in the US, but hard to come by here in Europe).... Love it you listed c.versi as No1, who is my all time favourite!

Hey Richard, you might want to tell everyone that just clicking on the notification bell isn't like it used to be. Now you have to select "ALL". It now has a drop-down list to choose from and if you don't choose, it stays on the default which is None. Stupid but True.

Good selection and hard to argue against anything on your list. I have been looking for a A. geniculata for about three months now and no one seems to have any.... Keep up the good work.

I do not own a tarantula. If I did get a tarantula it would be because this channel does a great job explaining husbandry . The narrators knowledge is impressive. Entertaining with or without owning a tarantulas. National Geographic needs to hire you as a correspondent for tarantulas...

I love watching your channel. My first tarantula would have to be one made by a 3-D machine. I love looking at them and learning about them. But I don’t know if I will ever be able to handle one. Thanks for sharing your knowledge 😊😊😊

The D. Pentaloris was my first T, ordered a 2cm sling about 8 months ago. But I really think more warnings will be appropriate "Keeping / acquiring tarantulas is addictive and can be hazardous to your wallet" I now have 32 with 2 GBB slings arriving in a few hours. Recently started with old-world's 5x m. balfouri - communal and now 2x p. metallica's kept apart.
