We need a Monster World lore anime, but also make it a partial story wrapping up unknown loose ends like Adrien Gecko with Exodius. Like, it still has duels, but the duels are to help these stories resolve.
This is the same escalation of “wait, we’re not done” as I felt when reading Naruto’s lore. Stage 1: apocalypse and survival. Stage 2: after a betrayal, literally making the Tower of Babylon and a giant friend/enemy clash. Stage 3: aliens. Like, fuck man. I need the manga for this.
the idea that the yugioh banlist is somehow canon in the world of monsters due to some force that keeps them locked away so they can't be summoned is the most convoluted, tongue in cheek way to explain away the logistics of the banlist in a canonical sense
Now imagine a Yu-Gi-Oh anime were the main character wants to use his favourite monster, a banned card, and must face the spiritual world of Yu-Gi-Oh. He travels there, meets some other duelists, monsters, help some of them, stop some evil guys, and at the end, he/she frees the monster from the "banned" zone. And thus, the monster gets unbanned, and our main character can use it in duels!
@@capuchinosofia4771 And then when the last episode of the anime gets broadcasted, the monster is released into the actual card game. *Inception sounds*
Imo the best one is made by a channel called crush cards, they slowly go over all the cards and explain the reasoning behind how they interpert the chain of events, including zooming in on card artworks for small but crucial details (like lee being an hologram) and comparing cards to get the chronologity right. Or how a schematic for Ib's staff/key is present in the lab
@@ashikjaman1940 becoming Avida huh... also found it fitting that Avida's effect in lore is just like gameplay (ie. resetting the entire field, banished field and GY by returning all cards into the deck is just like what Avida did when he revived everyone) and that it, being a god, can end the duel by the turn it was summoned (especially since no cards can be activated in response to its effects)
For the Marron story..here's how I think happened. - Marron was missing (Where Arf Thou), somehow got lost in the Dark World, turning it into Mad Dog of Darkness. - Marron's owner didn't know this and either built or bought Mecha Dog Marron as a replacement and was content - However, while Marron turned into the Mad Dog, it still remembers its master and waited...and waited..and waited for a 1000 years, turning it into Skull Dog Marron.
@@drunkenpumpkins7401 No, the kid didn't die when he was a kid since he managed to create Mecha Maron, Wightprince is whole other personality. Well I guess he lived happily ever after with Skull Servant Family.
@@Joshuamiller19570 what about kamui and winda then? At least avram and girsu fighting their sister during their prime. Kamui on the other hand had to see his adopted daughter turn into a doll, saw her old deceased sister orchestrated the attack at his home at his retirement's age. That's including the constellar siblings, kery and lapis.
They should just drop the real life yugioh anime and make a yugioh anime based off all of the archetype lores. Gimme the World Legacy, Shaddoll, Ritual Beasts, Charmers, etc into one big story one after another.
they're indeed connected into one big story though from worm invasions up to recent lore, they're probably happening in the same world, sometimes with a few powerups referenced from their previous generations
@@tehrik0020 That would be hilarious indeed,I just pictured in my head the lovecraftian abomination that is thousand eyes restrict waving goodbye to his friends. "Cya guys,I'll never forget you." While dramatic tearing up from its thousand eyes.
I don't even know if Gogiga is the best ending. But I surely love that Gagagigo The Risen has friendship with Marauding Captain again. I also hope the charmer ends well for her.
Johnny Two no I already know it lel, I read it on YGODECK - I’d just like to hear it on a video - and unfortunately team APS hasn’t posted a lore vid in ages
"Top 10 Best Cards That Surprisingly Tell Stories in Yu-Gi-Oh!" More like "World Legacy and nine other cards that tell stories" Also, at 11:52: CHECK THIS OUT!
That was because he didn't wanted to take any of the terminal world cards. Trishula for season 1 and Apoqliphort Towers would be the one to represent season 2.
@@kintsuki99 trishula should ve appear. It's been competitive for years and currently on the banlist. But duel terminal lore too huge to cover in several minutes
The fact that the World Legacy combines so many different archetypes into one story is insane World Legacy Mekk Knights Guardragons Crusadia Orcust Knightmare Krawler
One of the longest card told stories is the one that happens after the ice barrier clan had summoned the three dragons, and then splitted into geshinki, necrons, a few important members joining other factions, and ultimativly the corruption of the iswarm overtaking everything.
@@mrsharpie7899 I mean we have participation of multiple archetypes like world legacies themselves, Crawlers, Mekk-knights, Orcusts, Guardragons and Nightmares so...quite crossovery should I say
The summary of the world legacy lore alone already makes this video worth watching. And the list itself is a really creative idea. Great video, as always
I gotta say, I got back into Yu-Gi-Oh recently after being out of the game since 2010~ish, and I have absolutely fallen in love with World Legacy. I'm a huge RPG nerd, and they really wrote an entire full RPG game plot for the series of cards and I love it
Just wanted to add something nobody seems to notice: it seems to me that the world legacy lore is actually connected to the duel terminal lore (I think it’s a prequel) because on the card world legacy cliffhanger in the bottom right corner you can actually see a qliphort core, which flies just like avram into the exploding world gears (which seems to be connected to the sources of the mekk knights) and the three fuse together as avida, the dueresetter, which has qli features. Avida then seems to be using all of its power to reconstruct the world, and channel that through the world key, the now only remaining world legacy
And true draco are connected to zefra ( the new link 3 zefra looks like master peice ) so this means that duel terminal true draco and world legacy happens in the same planet
What are you talking about? I noticed that a long time ago. I brought that up in several comments when lore is ever mentioned, I have even said that Dark Magician, Blue-Eyes and Black Luster Soldier are connected to the Duel Terminal lore too via FIve-Headed Dragon. You can tell when a story is connected to the Duel Terminal when Naturia's big ass tree shows up in the story how. That means The True Dracos, Dinomist, Metalfoes, Iginister himself, the amorphage, igknights, crystrons and everyone else in the pendulum era were linked to the duel terminal storyline. Also, there will be a new guide book discussing the lore up until the end of the world legacy lore that goes into full detail about how the cards are connected via a story.
The World Legacy lore is partly what inspired me to create my own archetype and expand the "Chaos" archetype. Telling a story through cards can be fun.
With Master Duel's release, they have stories for certain archetypes. World Legacy is one of them and you nailed the first half of their story. Really cool to watch this video after playing through Master Duel.
I feel like Marauding Captain could've been good for this list too. Though as far as I can tell, he's more of a secondary character in Gagagigo's story, unless there's aspects to his story I've forgotten. And it was pretty good in old school yugioh too, so wouldn't be unfounded for this list imo.
Wow, that world legacy thing sounds awesome! It's almost an anime story arc on it's own. I think i'm going to build a deck with all the cards he listed in it. I doubt it will be worth a damn but it's a cool story to have tucked away in a deck box.
In fact, these stories need to be the anime. Forget about these lousy remakes of card games on bikes, card games in academies, who the hell knows what else. The anime is dead. They could do so much with the lore of these cards.
I think that, due to the title, the character in “Imperial Order” is actually an Emperor. It’s actually rather common for other monarchs to serve under an Emperor, like King Herod under Emperor Augustus. Thus, how the Imperial Order Emperor has authority over the Tyrant.
Skull servant was the first card i ever owned given to me by my brother to get me to start playing, kinda cool to see it has a whole group of related and story cards.
This is hands down my favorite video you have done as I can only imagine the amount of time you put into not just piecing all the lore together, but then also ordering cards that can and cannot be used. I agree the World Legacy story needs to be an anime like the others. It would make an interesting video for you to tell the World Legacy story on its entirety though I realize this would be a separation from your norm.
love how since Konami made the pendulum zones into regular s/t zones, Wavering Eyes can actually destroy non-pendulum cards that are in the 'pendulum zones'
While it is alternate artwork, they have said that the arts from that set depict other parts of the stories. For example, the new art for Kagari (Sky Striker) shows Raye removing her limiters in the climactic battle against Roze in a last ditch effort to end all of the fighting. It’s still the same card effect as before, but now it’s much later in the lore for the art.
Knowing tat Condemned Darlord didn't just win but also got two other ladies from the card artwork on her side as the Indulgent Darklord and the Capricious Darklord, forming a polycule is great.
Now I know why the people, who know about it, are pissed off about how the lore has been ignored, with the one Mekk-Knight-card. I still think that "Check THIS out!" is a hilarious card-text.
I LOVE THIS!!! Look I literally almost teared up by the world legacy story, I'm a grown ass man, the story isn't sad, but it's so god damn beautiful. Thank you so so much for the video and if this end up to be a series where do I sign ?
Back View Oh, they definitely like making money. They’d just much rather adapt the anime from the manga instead, rather than putting any effort into making an original Yu-Gi-Oh anime.
This was a good video. You should do another list with card stories rather they are good or not. I'm interested in knowing about Krawlers or the deeper story about the Hero cards
I absolutely loved this video. I didn't know that Yu-Gi-Oh had that much lore; I knew MtG prided itself on it, but your voice+ content was really awesome. Part 2, please!
This Top 10 video is now one of my favorites! Reminded me a lot of 'Rescue Cat is Missing', which I adore! Maybe I just love to hear you tell stories... Anyways, keep up the great work! Cheers fren!
Man, I forgot how sick Condemned Darklord's art is. From what I understand, the World Chalice art is supposed to be an elaborate DnD story, but holy crap I didn't realize how huge it is.
Boy this was fun, so much happening in the background of some cards. Only wish we got more into six samuria cause im a fan of that archtype, but it might have added another 5 or 10 minutes to the vid if its as long as he implies
Nice video! :D There's loads of stories, my favourite is the six samurai one, but a close second is the whole saga of Shaddolls, Qli, Tellarknights, Zefras and infernoids (which is official in the card storylines).
This is one of the most intriguing videos you've ever made, well done. Also, could we please see a list of the best cards that discard cards from your opponent's hand? I feel like that would be a cool topic to cover
im not sure that there is actually enough cards to make a good list. those that exist are either so good they have a place on the forbidden/limited list, or so bad they nearly never see play. on top of that, it didnt take long for them to realize the effect was too powerful in its own concept, so there are not all that many of them.
Just remember yesterday i just completed the solo mode in master duel and chalice lore and after i complete it boy oh boy its a some big plot twist at the end
There was actually a bit of card lore in the GX anime season 3 where duel monsters had kingdoms and wars and everything (for those wanting to watch an anime about card lores, though it's still mainly about dueling)
World Legacy is super duper epic, plot twist and sad ending, i really love it. Duelogs, Im begging you, please make the full video for World Legacy Lore
Man... It is impossible to imagine how much I would prefer an Anime from THIS card stories than just a bunch of children/teenagers playing cards... Anime should be used to tell these stories. Like Magic did with books.

I agree, watching anime with just the lore would be insane.
while there is lore to most of these cards, there isn't ENOUGH to fill an anime with; even the amazing Duel Terminal storyline doesn't have enough content to fill a 12 episode series, probably a good 3 episodes at most for an OVA, and that's the entire library of the duel terminal from Ice Barriers to the World Legacy, not unless they make up a bunch of stuff which would take away from the point of turning the lore into an anime in the first place....
i was thinking the same while watching the video. But the World Legacy story convinced me that this needs to happen. Frankly, making an anime about the characters on the actual cards would help to sell more of them. I know Konami has been suicidal for several years by now, but I can only hope somebody decides to do it.
@@mageside well the world legacy could expand a little: maybe showing avram's village, with winks to bein a "sequel to duel terminal", then showing interactions like ib being avram's love interest and ningirisu being somehowbest bro to avram but also telling him to take care of his sister, maybe a montage of how avram met the crusadias, and maybe more detials of the backstory of the mekk-knights (that they were once just machines but eventually gained sapience, and wanting to atone for their sins, they kept the tribes isolated from each other so the experiments Ib (well the human Ib was once before) weren't repeated (ironically the same experimetns that gave birth to them)). and then you could ahve ready a 6 - 12 episode anime
It’s fitting that Marron is depicted as a lost dog and his effect is “When this card is sent to the graveyard, add it to your deck and shuffle it. So technically upon returning to the deck, Marron gets lost again. If you activate “Where Arf Thou” and you have Level 1 Marron in your deck, you can add it to your hand. If it’s destroyed it’s back to the graveyard and back to the deck. In the picture, it appears that Marron is simultaneously winning at a game of hide and seek.. both with the boy and the duelist. I guess that’s why Marron is Outstanding.
Hell, there's other stories not listed here. Duel Terminal saga, Gagagigo's story, the War between the Atlanteans and the Fire Kings, Mayakashi - Shiranui story etc..
could there be a second list of this? maybe a "Best top 10 cards from the world legacy lore" or "from duel terminal lore", or worst cards that tell stories?
