Wearing Nicolai LEau Mixte (Top: Grapefruit, Cassis, Mint, Bergamot & Italian Lemon; Mid: Rose, Jasmine & Spicy notes; Base: Vetiver, Musk and Oakmoss.) Very Chanel-esque & pretty, albeit short-lived. Perfect for hot weather. Cannot yet complain of the heat as it's 70º with a bay/ocean breeze here on the Maine Coast. (our hot days will come & i will then, protest.)☀😡 // Clarins made on of my forever-favorites ... Elysium. Heaven ,,, quite literally. // Husband wore vintage Guerlain Vetiver today ... we both adore vetiver scents. // GREAT Choices! 🤍

I loved finding out which fragrances made the grade for you when it comes to such a specific category of sorts. What I've found during this freakish UK heatwave is that all the fragrances I THOUGHT would be wonderful for the heat just didn't work on my skin. It was a most peculiar discovery indeed. A few exceptions snuck through and were indeed freshening and cooling, such as two offerings from Japanese houses Di Ser and Parfum Satori: 'Adameku' and 'Akanesasu' from the former, and 'Suiren' courtesy of the latter. The way Di Ser handles oranges/citruses is unique and I know of no other house which produces 'orange-forward' fragrances that smell like those two. 'Suiren' on the other hand is how your skin smells when you're on a sojourn to the Amalfi Coast or Provence in July, mixed with the smell of the villa's garden. I highly recommend it as a unisex summer fragrance-- for me it works perfectly in hot weather. I can't think of any fragrance that would work as a dupe for 'Suiren' except maybe-- at a push-- Keemun by Welton. But even so, it's nowhere near the same, just a similar ball park to give you a vague notion of where I'm coming from; a musky herby citrusy slightly sweet green rather than an astringent, 'tonic'. (Beware the note pyramid-- it looks wildly different to what I just described, ha! Could be the alchemical transformation on MY skin, or it could just be a genuine surprise for all after they read the notes and then smell it on themselves-- things can look misleading on paper sometimes, I find). Anyhow, all of them are blended so smoothly with no sharp notes screeching over the harmony of the choir and that is the distinct, instantly recognisable beauty of Japanese fragrances. Herba Fresca is the perfect summery scent without verging anywhere near ‘beachy’ territory. I’ve worn it for years. A friend always says I smell like an expensive cocktail when I wear it.

For the heat you will be experiencing, please consider; High-Pressure system in the Atlantic AZORES, named after Islands near Portugal/Caroline Ummenhofor, Physical Oceanographer. Tuesday, ridge coming through mid states causing 115-120 in Kansas. Records will be broken. Many have central air. Hurricane season soon. Ben Noll, Large Scale of Rising Motion in the Atlantic. Focus on Africa and India. Late July August. Lots of activity. I think the bigger picture here is current extrapolations on exponential higher elevations in pressure to heat. Models are off. I think they knew. The even bigger picture here is fresh water increasing in the salt water. So, let's keep watching those glaciers. Larry Sumers when asked about current estimates of achieving emission target dates. "The sands are already flowing through the hourglass". At work about a week ago, the power went down. Storms were everywhere. My first thought was, "My perfumes", for my perfume room has an airconditioner. It wasn't the meat in the freezer, it was the collection in my closet. I think that one qualifies me for being a frag head. Summer heat. Just got a vintage Cosmair Polo Sport on the cheap. Of course, the Listerine Vetiver from Guerlain. Oh, I gotta break out that You or Someone Like You from ETAT. Simple, easy, but more than anything, it just makes me smile. Be well and stay safe. Until September my fragrance friend. eddie.

Our cooling perfumes list is so similar (e.g. nothing beats Eau Dynamisante) and yet I continue to learn from you. Some others I love in this realm are my favorite perfume, Caron’s Eau de Reglisse (RIP, iced licorice lemon verbena tea), 4711, Chanel No. 5 l’Eau, Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Limon Verde (a real contender v. Herba Fresca which I also adore), Solinotes Fleur d’Oranger (a cheapie, don’t judge me, I love it), and Tom Ford Sahara Noir (another RIP, some might see this as a cold weather scent because of the incense feel but it is so drying to me, I adore it in hot sticky weather). Congratulations on almost 300 episodes 👏 Great job on your efficiency today but I missed the tangents! We are becoming so focused on simplicity and minimalism, I crave maximalism and artistic flourishes 😊 This summer I have been reaching for Herba Fresca and Pamplelune, Eau Premiere, Gajra, and New York Intense. They all lift me through the muggy heat in different ways.

It is very hot outside! Almost 40 degrees in Paris! If you are living in the city without air conditioning (which is my case) it's a nightmare! Although I love perfume, I have to say that I don't spray any when it is that hot. That being said, Geranium pour Monsieur showergel is very cooling, much more than the fragrance itself. :-) Have a nice Summer break.

I absolutely love Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca and it's the only fragrance that I have a back up bottle off. My other love is the original bottle of Mugler Cologne that I have about a third of a bottle of; it's a stunner! Loving your videos 😊

Great vid. You're so right about Eau Dynamisante - Cristalle EDT was my signature and then I'd use ED in the summer. Really miss the body oil spray they used to do. Wish Clarins would bring it back - so much better than a lotion in this weather. My partner recently got TdH eau de givrée - loving it on him in this weather!

I just checked the weather for London, next week. 🥵 That’s 2 days of horror! People have to check on elderly people who live alone. That’s dangerously hot for people who aren’t prepared. Great theme. You’ll need all the cooling you can get. I love basilic and minty scents for cooling. They work very well with my chemistry.

Cooling scents for me are: Davidoff- Cool Water. It legit reminds me of sitting by a swimming pool or hanging out by the beach. Anything of Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria line, especially Mandarine Basilic and Rosa Pop. Mandarine Basilic reminds me of orange creamsicle ice cream. Jo Malone- Wild Bluebell Cologne. It reminds me of being in a summer field in England after it rains. From reading the accords of Miss Dior it sounds like it will be cooling as well, which I asked my husband for as an anniversary gift.

Give all the likes to Dariush - Persolaise, people! Liselotte here, this is my second comment on the video with another account but I enjoyed it so much, what can I say! It is the quickest list ever and yet superb, always a great moment to watch ! If you can watch on a laptop do read the comments section in the tchat on the right-hand side of the screen, there is always a good group of people, both perfume and jokes lovers, and there was a big turn-up on this one apparently! I also love in the L'Occitane Verbena range their Citrus one (Verveine Agrumes in French), raw and realistic verbena as if you feel the leaves through your fingers (it is said to be that every Portuguese household has a verbena plant! ), calming, and invigorating at the same time, cool even if you normally drink it hot (a bit like the mint tea of Herba Fresca 💚). Cheaper yet, I also wear Cologne Jean-Marie Farina from Roger et Gallet, you feel the aromatics as if you were in some sort of church's garden in the South of France, with thyme and rosemary and the earth heaten up by the sun.... Have a great scented holiday Dariush, maybe you'll tell us what you brought with you and how you pack the precious vials!

Oh yes I have still about 60% of my original Minotaure Bottle, haven't tried the new one, I even have the small ceramic souvenirs made from red clay with the Minotaure logo broken in three parts, where they spray the fragrance and they give it to you instead of a blotter, I remember putting it inside my car and the next day the whole car smells amazing, so I drive to the mall and buy the bottle that I have, will definitely buy a bottle of Wake Up World. My favorite cooling parfume is ELDO You or Someone Like You. Thank you Dariush!!!

Loved this and you did a very good job of pronouncing the French "pourpre" just there at the beginning, you actually don't need to apologize like you did in the video just before, you have to say it without thinking !! As for me I shall try and pronounce without thinking "th" sounds in English too haha...

Jazz for YSL and Minotaure were my signature scent for more than 20 years. The minotaure now is a waste of money and can't be compared to the original one. I sample wake up world last month, and it is reaaly so close to minotaure, I felt the only difference is that wake up world opening is less fruity or playful than minotaure. About Jazz, I don't know if U were a fan of it, but they said dua brand has make a clone called "the blues" and it is very close to the origin. Chinotto I sample it and really loved it, a beautiful modern fragrance

I was watching this and thinking "do I have anything cooling?" (or that feels cool?), especially given that I am drawn to very "warm" scents (Andy Tauer, etc) . And then I remembered Vilhelm's Morning Chess. I have it and find it very evocative of a garden bower in Sweden in summer, perhaps at 9 a.m., before the day heats up. I just have to be careful not to put too much on, as it can be quite overpowering.

Great overview! I own several. I bought Herba Fresca about 20 years ago and immediately felt that Mathilde Laurent had revisited it with the Cartier Verteuse - not a bad thing but given the price difference I'll stick with the Guerlain. I have gone thru a couple of bottles of L'Heure Fougueuse mind you - also good for summer. Generally sticking to the original AdP Colonia & TdH, Equipage Geranium, Eau de Guerlain & Sous le Vent (mercifully I bought 4 bottles a decade ago) this summer - HK floating around mid 30's for a month now! Agree with the Monsieur Balmain comment from a guest - I cleaned out an old perfumery here a few years ago - lemony goodness. The relaunch version ok but miss the oakmoss :)

Molton Brown's Bushukan (being discontinued, of course) is a fantastic masterpiece of a cooling scent that reminds me of another 1970's masterpiece (also gone), Courage. Was it Courage by Courage? I can't even find it on Fragrantica now but do recall it was by a fashion house. LOVE these videos Mr. P.!!!

FYI, Texas HAS NOT learned how to cope with the heat. I found your statement about that highly amusing given what's been going on there the past few years.
