I REALLY hope whoever designed the Rusted Anchor is cooking for the DLC because we need more weapons like it. Powerful, unique looking and versitle. I'll be a disciple of the Anchor forever. Great job! Can't wait to see this updated for the DLC :D
Hell yeah Initially I cursed the game for giving me a goddamn ship anchor. Then I tried it. No other weapon makes u look the part of a sea worn, lunatic mariner.
Since the damage and speed of claws was buffed they have become dps machines. Infusable claws still lack versatile AoW option (they do get impaling thrust though) and don't deal very much stance damage and lack range so I don't know whether I would put them above any of the weapons in the list, but if it's pure dps you want they absolutely deliver
I did a claws only run not long ago and in terms of raw DPS the are truly insane, but I would still say that they are probably worse than the Star Fist and Iron Balls just because of the stance breaking potential and with the damage these can do per hit (since usually you use heavy attacks instead of light attacks like with the claws) the difference in DPS is pretty much negligible
Probably wouldn’t make a top 10 but bloodhound claws with bloodflame blade and multi attack setup absolutely shreds everything. I speedran Melania with that build and beat her in seconds. Also easily one cycles Godskin Duo. Actually they could be top 10 now that I think about it because that build is busted
This, Flameart & lion's claw on a 'berge melts bosses on a str/fai build, double slash/sword dance/spinning slash if you want a lighting/dex build. Super versatile, for a pure str build horefrost stomp/sacred blade/cold mist/flame of the redmanes are all good ashes too & you don't have to put an extra 8-10 points in endurance for carry weight, oh it's got better bleed proc than an uchi or nagakiba too 😂. One of the best weapons imo
I did a Guts cosplay run where I used the Greatsword, Pulley Crossbow, beast incantations and studied the best consumables for different bosses to use and made sure to use them as often as possible when enemies had exploitable weaknesses like holy pots on undead. I also tried to use Spirit Ashes that I could equate to Berserk characters, like the Page for Serpico and etc. The Greatsword was obviously the most fun part of that though, most fun weapon I've ever used in a Soulsborne with Giant Hunt and Lion's claw carrying me.
I've been having a lot of fun with an all fist arcane build. Deadly poison jump attacks from the venomous fang, occult cragblade star fist for charged heavy stance breaking, and blood raptor's talons with repeating thrust.
To me the coolest thing about the Cross-Naginata is it’s clearly inspired by Isshin the Sword Saint’s weapon in Sekiro; it even has the same movement pattern that he does when spamming single hand R1 with it 😁
I just completed a run with a Cross Naginata and Bloodflame Blade. Initially I thought about using Blood Tax for the multi-hit, push that bleed back up a bit but that Ash just sucks. it doesn't stagger anyone so you always get bopped out of your move. I ended up stopping to think about things and decided to try Sword Dance which, honestly, pretty much saved the entire run, that combo was amazing! HOWEVER watching this now I'm a bit miffed I didn't think to give Spinning Weapon a try. Wonder how that would've gone
The only thing that’s might make it on the list is probably claymore with the charge heavy attack with a bunch of damage increasing rings. I don’t see KGS or BKGS making it on this list tho, im pretty sure you can dual wield straightsword and get more damage with less recovery time per attack.
@@dudeiii2069 weird apples to oranges comparison there, but the KGS/BKGS (and other greatswords) aren't really that slow at all for the damage and they're gonna do significantly better stagger/stance damage than straight swords and there's hyper armor and an arguably better selection of ash of war options (Square Off is great, don't get me wrong, but if you use that, there's not much reason to be powerstancing straight swords), etc etc
And now backhand blades and light greatswords and great katanas exist with an infusable entry for each. After the 1.13 patch they might have a shot at this list. Greatswords unrepresented? C'mon, claymore exists. And even flamberge for that passive bleed for infusion pairing power. Either could have been on here over lance at least.
Saw the Claymore and other GSs mentioned, and while I love the Claymore I do agree that Rusted Anchor and Greatsword are probably better. Even on NG, dual wielded Gargoyle Twinblade + Twinned Knightsword or Godskin Peeler + Twinblade/EP will outdamage pretty much everything on this list. I agree with ranking those below stuff like the bandit sword or cross naginata though as the dual twinblade moveset is really only good on jump attacks and needs lots of talismans and the thorny tear to see its potential brought out, whereas on NG the bandit sword and cross naginata are good from the outset even without dual wielding.
This list has me wondering if Great Stars is actually better than GUGS. Bleed, strike damage, greathammer stance damage, along with the moveset you get when 1 handed (it's amazing with a greatshield)
Pickaxe is the Rusted anchor but it has more stance damage and its heavies have better hyper armor, not to mention it takes a lot faster for you to get right out of the gate.
the funny thing is i see sooo many ppl acting like they are some sort of mega super impossible challenge runner just because they aren't using rivers of blood, whilst using the great sword with a occult infusion and blood grease
If you use the heavy attack then Zweihander is definitely better in my opinion but if you’re just an L2 spamming machine then Greatsword deals more damage
I just farmed a bandits curved sword and it is really nice but i need to find a spear to run since i offhand a staff and a claymans harpoon sounds dope
I'd Argue the zwei is better than the greatsword bc it can scale well with more builds, it's lighter, and you can get that spear talisman counterattack damage on the heavies
You have some sort of low volume whine or tone in the background and it really hurts my head, besides that, great videos. Do you maybe have a fan or your phone close to the microphone?
I honestly don't get what's the big deal about the claymore. I know its a classic but there are like 20 better weapons in ER I could instantly name, either more powerful, versatile, flashy or all the above. The claymore is a solid all-rounder but nothing really that special.
I really like the Warhawk Talon. Its my favourite straight sword. The charged heavy attack is very useful it comes out so fast. I think straight swords in general the have very versatile movesets 2 handed, 1 handed and powerstanced. They aren't the best at anything they just do everything well and have fast, versatile movesets.
You are wrong about the Scavenger's Cuved Sword. It is actually better with every Infusion except for Blood. The reason: Scavanger's has bleed with every single Infusion. Imagine going Fire Infusion and having Blood procs on every other Jump attack. Blood buildup is only equal with Blood Infusion and in only that case Bandits is superior because of the Range and Damage.
Greatsword with earthshaker and vacuum slice carried me through the whole game,no spells,no gimmicks, just raw warrior spirit, after all a crown is warranted by strength...
Hey Youwy, If you have a high level quality build (80 points into both strength as well as dex) and you compare that to a high level faith-strength build (80 points into both faith and strength) for melee damage, which build comes out on top?
I expected to see Giant's crusher I mean it does get the highest dmg at one hit in the game and its even better in occult build surprisingly. Also, the gargoyle's twiblades is also very very strong and i expected to see it on the list too
Thank you for your content @Youwy. In case you are looking for more pierce damage with the rusted anchor, you can powerstance it with the pickaxe, with duplicated Royal Knight Resolve and raptor's black feather, claw talisman, spear talisman indeed, the build is so fun ! Thank for your work !
The greatsword at 1st place even though it's regular and heavy attacks don't do as much damage as a colossal or as much stance damage as a great hammer. It's so slow if you're not spamming crouch attack, the recovery is ridiculous. Colossal swords imo are a bad weapon class and people only use the greatsword because of berk memes, when it's completely outclassed by other colossals and greathammers.
Why does Great Stars do all that lmao It feels like a somber weapon that they couldnt figure out which boss to theme it after so they put all its stats on a boring weapon because one random dev was too attached to the stats to throw them away And then the weapon became even better because of infusion and L2 flexibility!!
To me it looks like lordsworn on the right and noble's slender sword on the left. Tbh powerstanced straight swords are so powerful, you can't go wrong with most of them.
What would you recommend just for fun? I wanted to run a darkmoon greatsword or scavenger's curved swords build but I don't want to be just absolutely cheesing through the game.
Lmao what? The greatsword? Does he not know that the golems halberd has the same attack speed, straight up out damages it in strength, has less weight and more range? 😂
Rip. I looked at the wrong affinity. You're right; base damage on the greatsword is slightly higher (13 pt.) but I do have to say, after confirming I'm wrong, I'm surprised that the S scaling on it doesnt give it more dmg than it does. Alot closer to the golem halverd than you'd think. And due to the golem halberd still weighing less, still having more reach, still using less stamina and looking cooler (imo), I'm still sticking with it lol
60 Strength, 16 dexterity, heavy infusion, 2-handed. Heavy Greatsword AR: 839 Heavy Golem Halberd AR: 848 It does have higher AR on a strength build with heavy infusion. So where is the confusion? The two guys who said you are wrong are actually wrong.
@@youwyI still love my Lordsworn. Man, what a weapon. Yes, the other ones are more powerful, but the combination of the moveset, reach and the "rythm" at which it attacks cannot be beaten in my book.
Power stance cross naginata for the win. If you want Mohglesters spear levels of damage without falling asleep because the ash is the most boring thing in the game, go with this. Even single is god tier fun
So many S tier weapons...how tier lists originally were and what they are now are so distorted. S tier is supposed to be the broken/near broken/OP tier. Not just best in game, that's A tier. S is reserved for those things that are clearly ahead of everything else and should be the least populated as it should only apply to a handful, or less of weapons, characters etc.
When you dual wield two of the same type of weapon. Your L1 attacks are a unique dial wield combo. That's powerstancing. It originated in DS2 when you needed to activate powerstance with a button input and have higher stats than required by your weapon in order to use powerstance, but in Elden Ring it's automatic and doesn't require higher stats.
Hey, we do not know each other but I would like to tell u that despite all the bad that you have done in your life, GOD still loves you and wants you to be with him (GOD), all yoi must do is to trust in Jesus like how u would trust in parachute when jumping out of a plane and you must be willing to turn from your wrong doings and do what is right🎉😊😊😊
