Kurt became a lot more popular in season 2 and the writers just pushed the friendship of Kurt and Rachel and threw away Kurt and Mercedes. Kurt and Mercedes were better together. I mean come on Mercedes was black and Kurt was gay, they made pop culture!
For me it's the time I started watching and the relatability. I'm a drama kid, but because I got that gene from Dad and he's not good with Mom I was never allowed to express it. That is, except for our school's drama productions. I was me there. Everyone cheered and looked up to me. Heck, I was only a "guest star" character if the club were a TV show since I only made small appearances but I was unanimously named veteran. Now I'm off to a new school, and there are rumors there could be a Glee club. It all fits, you know. Well this took long haha. Love this show. (Oh and the gay struggles and the rewards are all included too, of course)
Agreed, it really should have. I hate that when they graduated, Quinn and Rachel made all these promises about going to visit each other, it never happens. A weird focus when Mercedes literally dipped in and saved Quinn in the hardest time of her life.
Y'all forgot when Kurt came to the rescue for Rachel in New York when she was having a rough time, and when Santana stood up for Finn's tree and pushed Sue in "The Quarterback"

LMandthings firstly she was a kid who got bullied and had a shit family and strict religious upbringing, then due to that bullying changed it around and became the opposite(popular and a bully). Psychologically some people who have been bullied become bully’s as a way of release and control due to their own past oppression. Then she gets pregnant due to cheating which I think is stupid of her but she then loses her home, her family, body and her reputation which is bound to mess her up added to the fact she’s 15. Then gives her baby up for adoption which is a very hard decision to make so of course she’s gonna go a bit crazy and she even says ‘I just want somebody to love me’ and I know she cheated on her boyfriend and shit but I think it’s her trying to latch onto someone as she feels let down by people who leave her like her parents and Beth so she’s conflicted. Having a baby at such a young age is traumatic so she is clearly reacting to that in season three when Shelby comes back so tried to get Beth back and sooo many people cheated like Rachel, Blaine, Brittany, Tina so I think way too much hate gets pressed into her.

Not gonna lie, when they decided to make Kurt and Rachel bffs I got so mad because they completely dropped Kurt and Mercedes. They had one of the best friendships on the show and the writers really let them flop like that. It was so disrespectful!

This list just proves that Mercedes was a great character and her potential was purely wasted on the show. From singing, to friendships, to storylines.
Justice for Sancedes, justice for Quinncedes, justice for Kurtcedes, justice for Puckcedes, justice for Samcedes. Mercedes has several friendships/relationships where she played integral roles in their character development and these relationships would disappear never to be mentioned again. For example: Quinn got put out by her parents when she got pregnant and Mercedes invited her to live with her and her family, Quinn had the baby, no mention of this relationship ever again.
Actually it was mentioned in s2 when Quinn and Will had a confrontation. But yeah I agree Mercedes is always remembered as a Diva but was always there to support everyone
Exactly, she was a great friend to everyone and deserved so much better, I've loved to watch her fulfill her career rather than Rachel in new York , same with Quinn at Yale
Aww, even though the teens of Glee club could constantly be at each other's throats at the best of times, there was no doubt that they loved each other like family!💖 Special mention goes to Beiste buying a Rewalk for Artie to make Brittany's Christmas wish for him to walk again come true, and anytime anyone stood up for the group!😊
One of the most beautiful moments on Glee - which should have been on this list - is when the Glee club support Sue after her sister died and they sing "pure imagination" at her funeral.
TheLadySilverMoon Actually, I haven’t seen that episode in a while and TRULY nothing against the Glee club as a whole, but (IIRC) it was Finn and Kurt who cared abt being there for Sue - bc both of them lost one of their parents at young ages [Finn was a toddler] - but they understood that that type of loss is so very, very difficult to handle. They actually had to convince the rest of them to join in. And, while I loved their performance at the Church (and to this day wish that TPTB on Glee had had them sing something with those performers at any one of their competitions - as the original Glee group) I will never forget the looks of death given to Jessie when he finally protests, at their Glee advisor, to the loss of precious time practicing. They were perfection!! (Just, by the by, I LOVED Jessie. I just thought that those looks were fantastic.)
Like Gerwin Opong I don't see Sue/Becky as a friendship, but not quite mother/daughter either, I think it is more aunt/niece not a "formal" relationship as a parent but a supportive figure and a confident for Becky, reference the school shooting episode
there were so many great friendship moments on the show I would love a part two, maybe on that one put, Quinn and Santana rigging the votes so Rachel wins prom queen, Kurt giving Santana Finns jacket after her breakdown about losing Finn, couch bestie helping puck, the glee boys standing up to Karofsky after bulling Kurt.
They should have kept Quinn and Mercedes friendship going. They were best friends and were more alike than it was given credit for. Their interaction diminished dramatically as the series went on. I remember the 3rd episode in the 2nd season the sat next to each and then stood up and did a dance together... then in the 3rd season, Mercedes gave Quinn a hug when she came back to Glee club... in the 4th season, Mercedes mentioned how sweet it was that Quinn and Rachel keep in touch.... the 5th season had no interaction between them other than Mercedes enjoying Quinn and Pucks final performance in the Glee club room and Quinn quickly put her arm around Mercedes during Don't Stop Believing. The 6th season also had no interaction but they did do a lot of cute stuff next to each other in the final performance of I Lived, they even held hands if you watch closely, but we shouldn't have to watch closely... their friendship should've carried on.
the producers wanted Quinn to be meaner, when Dianna played her, she made her good which is why Ryan Murphy didn't like Dianna, so they tried to ruin her character instead only to her finding others show/movies which is why she fx. isn't in the episode when they honor Cory/Finn nor in Santana and Brittany's wedding..
I wish we could have seen more of Quinncede's friendship, that would have been cool. I also wish Kurt and Cedes ended off as strong as they started out👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾
Rachel Kurt, crying in the car after that NYADA meeting in s1 was one of the good and realistic friendship scenes. So was Kurt moving New York and surprising Rachel there.
Okan iduğ Actually, that was season 3, but it was indeed a lovely scene. People are so mad about what they perceived to be the loss of Mercedes and Kurt’s friendship, but I never viewed it that way. Ppl can actually have more than one friend, and while their friendship actually began more like frenemies, they had so many similar personality traits! They were both driven to to get the hell out of Lima, and both wanted to end up on B’way; they were both manipulative (Altho that crack house scene was over the top); both bright, ambitious, and willing to put in the extra time and practice to achieve their dreams; and (apparently) they had similar taste in men! (I’m teasing. That’s not a comment to discuss their relationship issues.) Also, Kurt coming to Manhattan (beg of s4) was just as wondrous as you mentioned. Without going into the idiocy of only applying to one college, it made perfect sense for Kurt to go to NYC bc that was where he wanted to end up. Even without a specific job in mind, Kurt could easily take care of himself (as we saw) and so surprising Rachel (Altho I don’t recall how in hell he knew where she was at that particular moment) was spectacular!

Am I the only one who thinks that Santana and Sam had a great friendship? I mean, Sam was so receptive everytime Santana would roast her and the I miss you scene was so cute ❤️
I can't believe Sam's openhearted acceptance of Blaine's crush on him didn't even make the honorable mentions, it's one of the most standout scenes of the series to me! I remembered it years after I'd forgotten everything else from my first watch, and would periodically come back to youtube to rewatch it.
What about when when the glee club apologizes to Marley about making fun of her mom and when Kurt visits Korofsky in the hospital after he tries to commit suicide
Ian Himmelstein I thought that scene in the hospital was amazing! I always admired both actors so it wasn’t surprising to me that they could do that - it was just so powerful. And the look on Dave’s face when he pictured his life in the future (w’ his partner and son) was stunning.
The writers would set up the storylines around the characters friendships with Mercedes. Regardless of who was the main character they still put effort into those storylines so see them through. They didn’t which was a disservice to the show and its viewers.
@@TooFeisty They dropped the ball on every character at times though. We could have seen more of Rachel, Kurt and Mercedes too but they choose to ignored that one as well. The writers had a nice set up but tried to give to many too much.
Like Kurt, for example. Kurt was only supposed to be the 'gay bff' and he hated Rachel, but when the producers saw how popular he became, they stopped making him hate Rachel and he got his storyline
another one that I think was really amazing was that part during the quarterback when kurt and santana were sitting in the auditorium. it makes me cry everytime
So many good friendship moments, but I loved when Artie helped Quinn when she was in the wheelchair. Taught her a lot and kept her spirits up. Joe and Quinn as well when she was in rehabilitation learning to walk again. When Santana was Rachel's understudy and saved her job even though Rachel gave her hell and that was her chance to let her fall. When Quinn and Santana talked Rachel out of doing the nude scene in the student film. Again, they could have let her fall but didn't. They never really stressed how much of Rachel's final success was due to the friendships she made in the Glee club. Her talent and drive was only a part of it, the Glee club were a force behind her moving her towards success. Santana and Rachel with the pregnancy scare. Santana uncovering Brody's secret and calling Finn in to handle him. Just realized that a lot of these include Santana. She had an abrasive approach but she was a good friend when she wanted to be. Mercedes, Quinn and Santana had some of the best friendship moments.
What about when the WHOLE Glee Club helped Tina clean herself back up and supporting her after she got the ultimate slushie shower during her prom queen moment, her ONE moment to shine, and the fact Kitty gave Tina her dress to wear, and she just went back in sweats. I know season 5 starts getting iffy, but that moment right there is Friendship!
Another one is when Sue brought Santana's abuela to her wedding❤ Even thought the both of them didn't get along most of the series, that was a beautiful gesture.
#4: When Mercedes Took Quinn In (stifled laughter) You--you realize they never spoke after this episode right. Actually Mercedes taking Quinn in was never acknowledged on the show again. LOL
why is no one talking about how there’s no blam moments on here? instead of being freaked out by blaine having a crush on him, sam told blaine that it was okay and that nothing would jeapordize their friendship. blaine also helped sam when he was feeling insecure. the purest friendship on glee in my opinion

"It may seem a bit weird that beiste was so offended to find out that the glee boys (and Tina) think about her in compromising situations with their significant others" - how on earth are you supposed to feel if you find out "Oh by the way - I think about you to stop myself from premature ejaculation" - I wouldn't be pleased that's for sure.

I love every friendship on Glee especially Sue and Becky. I love the friendship moment when Artie ended any chance of a future relationship with Becky and she was heartbroken telling Sue and she decided to cheer her up with ice cream and said she would be there holding hands with her cheering her up. Also when Tina,Quinn,Coach Roz, and Sue were questioning Becky’s new bf about his intentions with her. 😂 Also, lastly Santanna when she defended Kurt and Blaine against Karofsky. I miss Glee so much. 💖

Great list! but I would like to add the part in season 6 where Kurt and Rachel need to recruit a members in Glee Club and all of their friends are there to help. Like they are just one call away to help each one of them that's a true friendship.
We're seriously not gonna talk about Finn and Will's friendship? Finn went from being just his Spanish student to his FREAKIN' BEST MAN AT HIS WEDDING!!! He told Mr. Schuh about Quinn being pregnant before he told anyone else! Mr. Schuh made Finn take over the glee club when his life was falling apart to help get him back on track! Mr Schuh stole Finn's jacket after he died just so it wouldn't feel like Finn's gone. WE'RE SERIOUSLY NOT EVEN GONNA GET AN HONOURABLE MENTION ON THAT!?
When sue got her self fired so that Becky could stay, Quinn being there for Santana at Will and Emma's wedding, Santana stepping in to be Rachel's understudy when she couldn't make it back in time, Santana deffending Blaine and Kurt, Rachel and Kurt letting Santana stay in their appartment, Puck and Finn's collage experience, when Blaine, Sam and Tina break in the school to have one final sleepover, because Tina is sad about them leaving, Katie not running for promqueen, because it was Tina's last prom, but mostly when Will and Sheldon deffended Sue when no one else had anything nice to say, and her having their back because of it!
When they said Gleeks I literally yelled "GLEEKS" and my whole family just stared at me weirdly I was just like "whatever I'm a gleek and you can't stop me watching Glee"
I think it was a beautiful momento when Sam wasn’t mad at Blaine because he had a crush on him. He told him nothing was going to change, that was a very beautiful scene

As admirable as that was and Brody could've gotten Rachel sick, I don't think it was Santana's business to tell. Her intentions were good but Brody was only supporting himself to get through school
mercedes practically made kurt feel guilty which is why he went to church. like he stated repeatedly that he didn't believe in god and instead of respecting that she continued to try and force him to have some kind of connection with god
