So am I often times, but it's STILL doable. A lot of times I have had to wait til tax time, or when I get a bonus from work, or stuff like that. I've also watched like a hawk for ones that I like to go for cheap.
The first one I saw in person was the Christopher Reeve Superman. The face sculpt is SO good, it climbs out of the "uncanny valley" and mesmerizes me...
I have 3 Hot Toys, and I think the best has to be the one I found by a complete fluke at a charity shop, new and sealed, Civil Wars' Scarlet Witch for $80AUD/$56 USD.
Great video Dan. Always enjoy your content. I am fortunate enough to have the hot toys Gladiator Hulk in my collection and it's the best figure in my collection. And probably always will be. He also has the patented eyeball thingy. Lol
A coworker sold me his Robocop a few years ago, it’s great. The die-cast parts really make it feel Premium. I should use the speaker function sometime.
#3 should be #1. omg thats the greatest thing i've seen on this channel. i was already reaching for my credit card and opening a new tab for google when dan mentioned it was rare.
I have 30 Hot Toys. From this list I have Robocop w/chair, Nicholson Joker, Keaton Batman, Reeve Superman and Ledger Joker. My personal favorites are CW Scarlet Witch, Keaton Batman, JL Wonder Woman and Robocop.
I relate to Dan's impacting experience in first witnessing The Dark Knight. I wonder if he had to ominously drive alone in Gothamesque torrential downpour at near midnight with a head full of acid, too.
Would love to see a Sideshow Collectibles list. They've really stepped up there game in the last several years with face sculpts really improving by leaps and bounds over earlier 1/12th scale figures in their line up. Their Star Wars droids have always been pretty great and the recent version 2 of Jabba The Hutt is an unbelievable behemoth of a collectible figure.
Sponorsed by Ebay?! Awesome guys congrats I hope you keep getting sponsors! I can see Dan sitting on the couch of some late night talk show host in a few years explaining how it all started from his love of toys :)
My only hot toys is Marty mcfly and boba fett. Really want those jokers and Batman. Great video by the way. You guys really make this hobby fun! Thank you
Glad to see Reeve Superman and Marty on the list! I would think maybe '66 Batman and Robin might have rated a mention. I still dream of a Ferrigno Hulk, Carter Wonder Woman and a Slater Supergirl. And some days... a Hammond Spiderman...
My first and only HT figure is Infinity War Thanos... AND already paying for the Endgame one for next year. Couldn't be happier. The detail is insane and I love how Hot Toys respected that one detail you don't really notice on TV (Thanos SHAVES)
I am a huge Hot Toys fan and 1:6 in general. Collected since 2008. Currently I have 145 Hot Toys and Enterbay figures. They do insane stuff but prices keeps going up and up and upppppp with each new release.
That's a great top 10 list! I have 6 figures on this list but other versions of Boba (RoTJ) and Vader (ANH) ....so basically 8 out of 10 ;) I've been collecting them for many years and although I've slowed down considerably I still get one every now and then. Have a couple on pre-order which I'm still waiting for. Keep up the nice videos! Oh and by the way....the list should've included the DX13 Terminator ;) That's one of my favourites.
Hey Dan - a factual error. There were actually 3 versions of Robocop (going by your criteria). There were the two you mentioned, then the battle damaged two pack with Murphy, which had zero die cast. IM fanboys probably did not vote on this list what so ever.. clearly none made the cut. Also, surprised you didn't mention the quarter scales.
I've seen Hot Toys figures before but never knew the name until watching this video. With that being admitted I'd like to imagine what a Hot Toy Joaquin Phoenix Joker would look like. And then think of how awesome it would be to the three iterations of Joker in your collection.
The only Hot Toys figure I could ever want is the Nicholson Joker. Sadly,I have a Neca toys budget but one can dream. Great video RoboDan (LarsonCop?). Big props to Producer Greg as well, enjoy that Keaton Batman lol.
If you can sew or learn to sew, you can kitbash your own figures much much cheaper. They sell the heads for like 20-30 bucks and the bodies for around 40-60 bucks depending on the body you choose (I like world box figures). Anyway, you can even find the clothes and shoes and stuff sold online sometimes cheap sometimes in a set that will run you 60-80. My rule of thumb is any figure over 250 that doesn’t come with like a huge motorcycle or throne or something, I kitbash. But I’m collecting not collecting to sell. So if you want to sell them later You probably won’t get as much, but custom figures can and have been sold for much more than the actual figure if done well enough (or coming with more cooler accessories).
I only have one..SW ANH Obi-Wan Kenobi and I love it so much. Yes they’re obviously very pricey, but once you get one in hand & on display, it’s worth every dollar for sure! I am curious What does your producer collect, anything else? If not Toys. I am always interested to find out what other people collect (when it’s not Toys). Great 👍 video guys. Thanks for another quality posting. Keep up the amazing work. This is one of my fave channels by far
Thank God for payment plans. Lol. I have about 70 Hot Toys figures, and you have only 2 of them on your list (Boba Fett and Superman). It would be more than that, but I’m not counting my Batman Returns Batman, BTTF 2 Marty McFly, Arkham City Joker, or my Rogue One Darth Vader. One figure I’m sorta surprised is missing from the list is Babydoll from Suckerpunch! That’s an excellent Hot Toys figure.
If I could afford them I would love to collect these to me they are not a action figure as much as a piece of art. Great job presenting Dan I thought for a while there it was actually Peter Weller standing in for you. Method presenting at its finest.
I LOVE the Infinity War Thor. Alternate set of arms that have the scales and removable cape and 2 eye patches to cover his other eye to have so many different ways of posing him.
Hopefully this doesn't sound as judgey as I'm worried it might, but this list comes off like it was put together by people who only have the Hot Toy they voted for. They are all seminal figures but they're all also several years old and from VERY iconic movies. Hot Toys has done some pretty amazing stuff in more recent years... Where's the Wonder Woman with the seamless body with no visable joints, or Neo from the Matrix which was maybe the perfect recreation, Thor from Infinity War which was the best release in 2018, not to mention ANY Hulk release or any regular diecast Iron Man (especially the Mark V). Even still, I really enjoyed the video as always, one of my favorite toy channels!
My absolute favorites are Rey (resistance outfit), Leia (Hoth and Bespin both), Christopher Reeve Superman and Gal Gadot Wonder Woman (the JL one). Too bad I don’t have any of them due to lack of funds.
Aliens Hudson 41st Elite Corp Clone trooper Royce from Predators G.I. Joe Cobra Sniper Got them all back in the day when they were affordable can't afford their pricing now.
Cool list. I only have Robocop from this particular list. I would change at least two selections. Exchange this Jack Sparrow with the most recent one( DX15); that face and Hela’s are perhaps the best likenesses HT has made. Plus I’ve never understood the praise for Marty McFly’s figure; the face-sculpt is off.
I own that Vader, it’s a huge pain in the ass swapping out arms on that thing, no eye ball rolling system though, plus I own that boba amongst others and he is 👌
