Dear Mr.P, I’m so sorry I missed this live, but will savor it. Thank you for the work you do and the service you provide. I know giving you the proper effusive American thank you that comes naturally to me would make you uncomfortable, so please be aware I’m practicing significant restraint when I say: your work and the gifts you share so brilliantly have enriched my life and I anticipate every broadcast with the enthusiasm of a student learning from a great teacher (we are nerds are we not?) and the shoulder relaxing deep breath that accompanies being in a cozy and safe space with like minds. Thank you, Happy New Year, and to many, many more LAFS to come. 🎉🙏🏻 (I don’t think by your standards I’ll have succeeded at being unAmerican in this note. Alas! 😊)
How am I just now discovering your channel? I was immediately hooked when I saw Bake and L'eau Papier on the list, both of which I own and adore! It's lovely to see someone speaking intelligently and with real warmth (and a wicked sense of humor) regarding something I am passionate about. You have made a new fan. 😊
To me L'eau Papier smells very much how I imagine watercolor papir feels like or when the muted colors floats in water. It's a beautiful scent but it took be a while to get around. It's very charming but the name puzzled me for some time. I keep thinking Diptyque should make it into a candle. I would buy that on a whim. Happy New Year and tank you for a Scentsesional year and here's to 2024, can't wait to watch your reviews through the year 💫
I adore lemon drizzle cake and lemon meringue, but I was one of those who just couldn't imagine wanting to wear them on skin. Well, your comment about Akro Bake convinced me otherwise. I tracked down a sample. I have been wearing it the past couple days, and I love it! You are so correct in saying that it does absolutely conjure a photorealistic lemon dessert while never forgetting to be a perfume meant to be worn on skin. Pure trickery!! Thank you so much for your thoughtful reviews as always😊
Oh man - so glad you helped introduce me to Puente and Iris Doux. It is - quite possibly - my favorite fragrance now. Immediately ordered a sample…then a travel atomizer…and then a full size bottle. Absolutely wonderful perfume!
@@bigmisscabbage643thank you. I will take a look in a short while. The only iris perfume I have owned is ‘Iris Malikhan’ by Maison Crivelli…Iris Doux sounds to be something I would like!
Missed the live unfortunately! So I’ll just leave my thank you here: dear Persolaise, thank you very much for yet another year of wonderful reviews and comments. And for facilitating such a wonderful community ❤🥰👌 My favourites (that I bought) this year were Devotion by D&G and Francesca Bianchi’s Byzantine Amber. That last one reminds me of Le Lion in a way, but a more heavy one. Well, I wish you and yours a wonderful end of year celebration, a happy and healthy New Year, and hope to see you there! 🥂🍾🙏
I was in Harrods on Friday and yes, it was bedlam on the ground floor. The 6th floor was much more civilised! Thank you for all your hard work and dedication in 2023, I look forward to learning more in 2024🎉
Forgive Me is definitely on my radar now. After I recover from Christmas spending. Ropion and white florals go together like peas and carrots. Gonna have to check out Iris Deux too.😊 Happy New Year!
I’m convinced that Rauque is a double entendre since it smells so horse-y. Reminds me of the way Mathilde Laurent invokes horse stables in some of her Cartier perfumes like L’Heure Fougueuse. One of my favorite discoveries this year was Påtch from Ånd fragrance, so evocative of damp forest soil and a little bit of Coca Cola. Happy New Year Mr. P, as always a pleasure to watch your year end round up!
I can’t wait to see your review of Penhaligons Mr. Thompson. “Curious” is an interesting word choice :) Studying the notes and reviews, I thought it was a safe blind buy, but NOPE 👎 I actively hate this scent. I don’t know how the combination of my favorite notes is able to create a used latex accord that is so off putting.
Amazing list as always Mr Persolaise. The most awaited end of the year list for so many I’m sure. :) Of course, I’m bit sad that HOP didn’t make it but even being mention in ‘didn’t make it’s list is a huge honour. Thank you for that. 🙏 Wishing a happy, joyful and fantastic new year. 🎉
Glad and surprised to see L'Eau Papier on your list. I recieved it for my "paper" anniversary gift this year, and we love it, but I know it has been divisive. I believe the sesame is the divider. I liked it on the blotter but the real beauty is on the skin.
I love Adorem and it is the only one I have from your list as it was only a 15ml bottle and did not cost hundreds of dollars. Mr. P, Thanks for another enjoyable and interesting video!
Hi Mr. P! While not 2023 releases, my favourites this year have been Diorissimo EDT (so happy to be owning a bottle of this being a fan of the vintage worn by a family member), Herba Fresca, Thé Basilic, and Wulong Cha--all of which will be permanents in my collection.
Thank you for a wonderful year of reviews! I’m pretty new to the world of scents and I have you to thank for getting me interested in perfume as an art form. Same time last year I couldn’t care less about it, and now it’s my absolute favourite thing to explore. Perfume has enriched my life so much already, as art does, and I’m looking forward to learning more and more about it. All this thanks to a random youtube recommendation I got during exam season last year, that prompted a background noise binge. Your reviews are still my favourites, please keep on doing what you’re doing. Wszystkiego dobrego w nowym roku 😊
Thank you so much for another year of Love at First scent , just missed the live but very happy that Bake made the cut as one I have tried and own . I love the sound of the Malle One as a big fan of clove , carnation, pepper scents and I think I will get the 10ml to try . Have the best New year and look forward to many more episodes of Love at first scent in 2024 . 🎉❤
I ordered Adorem based on your previous comments and have been so pleased with it. A couple of my personal faves this year are Jonquille and Dorian's Fougere, both from Darren Alan Perfumes. Not sure what shipping to the UK would be like, but as a lover of vintage scents, I'm confident you would love Darren's work if you could get your hands on it. (Fetes de Noel and Chypre No. 1 are also amazing.)
Best wishes for 2024 Dariush, health, blessings, and all the success in the world for you and your loved ones, and thank you for all the great content that you make!!!
Mr. Persolaise, thank you for all the wonderful reviews in 2O23 and I look forward to watching your channel in 2024. Wishing you and Madam Persolaise a very Happy and Healthy New Year.
I have my backup bottle of Rouge Prive also 😊. Also have the Puente neroli fragrance in the mail now, it should be here soon, and they are sending me an Iris Doux sample, so I can’t wait to smell those. 😁
Thanks for steering me to Adorem. It really is like roiling darkness. I’m deluding myself into believing Nez might rethink this one’s limited availability. And thank you for a wonderful year of reviews and for teaching us how to smell perfume more thoughtfully. Happy new year to you.
Dear Dariush, unfortunately I couldn't make the full live which I was eagerly awaiting, but thankfully I got to watch the second half at a later stage. A huge massive thank you to YOU for another wonderful year of reviews and interviews. We are extremely lucky to have you in our perfume world😃 of the ones you listed I own and love L'Eau Papier and Bake. I also recently purchased the Puente discovery set which I am very impressed with. Wishing you and all your loved ones a very happy new year🎉 All the very best, Caroline.
Of the perfumes on your list I have managed to smell L'Eau Papier and Heaven Can Wait. I loved them both! Thank you for always introducing to us wonderful perfumes to explore. I am learning so much from you and I really appreciate it! 😊 Wishing you a happy New Year and hopefully I can catch a live stream soon!
Your description of Rauque has me interested to try it; yes, horses sweat. I am a horse owner/rider and there is nothing better than the smell of a hot horse, lol :o)
Forgive Me is gorgeous to me. Msr Ropion is my favourite perfumer and Carnal Flower my favourite floral so this admittedly was a blind buy and I adore it!! Also thank you for the introduction to Puente - a discovery set has been ordered (with a discount code) I am looking forward to sampling 4 from the house.
Lovely list and we share 3/4 of the same :) love Diptyque L'Eau Papier, I keep smelling it each time i see it, it reminds of a japanese handmade rice paper I once used. the texture is amazing. I might cave and buy it. oh and Paul Guerlain wise check out Headspace Kirsch. its a stunner. Still need to smell the new Eris too. ps. I think of Adorem as Fleabag season 2 in a bottle :)
No, I can't believe I missed the live episode! 😤 Anyway, thank you for yet another year of great reviews, valuable insights and just pure entertainment, Dariush! My favourite fragrance this year is Search hand down - absolutely blew my socks off! Honorable mentions would be Acqua di Parma's Arancia La Spugnatura and Moth & Rabbit's Melancholia. New Oud Minerale also released, but my package is stuck in transit due to holiday period 😮💨 so won't be able to smell it THIS year, thus it doesn't count, I guess.
Great video on showcasing quite a lot I've missed this year. My favorites of the year are Hermes Un Jardin en Cythere, Guerlain Habit Rouge Rouge Prive and Zoologist Harvest Mouse. Happy New Year, see ya in the next one!
Forgot to comment that I guessed that Myrhe 55 was Daphne Bougey straightaway because it bears a striking resemblance to Mousse de Chene 30 (Amsterdam City Ex) that she did for them, also billed as a neo chypre. The structure of the two are the same, with Jasmine replacing the sharp aromatic notes in Mousse. How did you come to find out about her doing Myrrhe?
I am enjoying the video greatly as always ! Plenty of suggestions here. I discovered Habit Rouge thanks to you about two years ago and still enjoying to understand its complexities. Same goes for Youth Dew which I have been complimented upon for the first time ! Happy new year!
Golly..missed you live, Handsome Man! Cheers to a Fab New Year to you and Madame P. {Glad you chose the clean, fluffy, all encompassing musky beauty Diptyque L'eau Papier for your 10 Fave list! Yay!}
Thanx for a wonderful year of “Love at First Scent”… I have enjoyed it so much!!! Happy New Year to Mrs P and yourself for a Happy, Healthy…full of Love & Laughter 2024… “Slainte”🥂✨ My Favorite Fragrance of 2023…. “Guerlain’s Jasmin Bonheur”…..♥️✨
Hello Mr. P, Are you familiar with New York magazine's Approval Matrix? To be found in the category of Low Brow/Brilliant, currently available at the finest Zara near you.... there are two perfumes that are knockouts, equal to some of the best designer/niche brands, the first is Sunrise on the Red Sand Dunes and the other is Leather Jardin. Magical potions.
Hi, I enjoyed this video very much, specially your explanations of the scents. I have one suggestion about the 2024: more interviews with perfumers. I have one in mind, interview Hamid Merati Kashani, :) I want to hear about his creative process behind his creations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts in these master pieces.
Hmm…I have found that the word most used with chypres is “angry”. Im still thinking of getting Myrrhe 55, but it might be too serious and angry for my personality 😂
The list we've been all waiting for! From your list I tried the new Eris and Diptiqye and they are really good! Happy new year! Thank you so much for every single video you made. You are amazing and I wish you and your family all the best 🎉🎉
Happy New Year from Hong Kong, Mr P. I’ve been watching your channel for a year now and loving your vids, great content and really informative opinions as well. I just ordered Iris Doux and really looking forward to receiving it. Wishing you a wonderful 2024 🎉
Thank you for another great broadcast. Would you be so kind and do a review of Guerlain's "Néroli Outrenoir". (for men and women) It receives great praise, but I haven't yet had the pleasure of coming across it, and haven't dared to make it a blind buy since it's so expensive :)
Ooo this one is good, unlike reviews I don’t get wulong cha by nishane. wulong cha was too citrus, where’s neroli outrenoir is tea and ambrette with some bright notes that make it universal all year.
@@Persolaise , I've just got it!!! And it is absolutely amazing!!! It transported me directly into my grate-grandfather's cellar that he used as a carpenter workshop. I need a bigger bottle!
I'm sorry you didn't like it, but I guess we can't all like the same things. Personally, I don't consider 'old ladyish' to be a negative -- I know plenty of stylish older women (and men) who smell wonderful.
Blessed and happy new year! May I ask if Bake is just as sweet as Devotion by Dolce & Gabbana or is Devotion sweeter? I also wanted to ask if you can detect any carrot note in Heaven can wait? :)
Perhaps Bake is a touch sweeter. The main difference is in the citrus notes. There may be a suggestion of carrot in HCW because it contains an iris note.
@@Persolaise Yeah, I'm based in the US and luckyscent don't do samples. I assume because it's such a small size. I did get a sample elsewhere. I intend on making a decision soon hopefully before it runs out (if I end up loving it; a pre-requisite of course). Thanks!
Thanks for the comment. Wherever possible, the chapter feature is included. It takes some time for it to be set up after a broadcast has been concluded.
What a delight to ear about M. Cottard in one of your video! I sometimes forgot you enjoy the beautiful city I have the chance to live half of the year :) Beautiful selection to perfumes, as always! Don’t change you’re perfect! 🫶
