Here is another video within the 'series' of top ten travel classes. Since both of my videos have proved to be popular, I have decided, yet again, to upload a premium economy version. Here are the airlines in order with their websites:

I ABSOLUTELY agree that Air France Premium Economy made your top ten. It is SUPER comfortable, and comparable to business class on other airlines. Air New Zealand's looks AMAZING! Have to try that in the future. Truth be told, Premium Economy is a nice way for those of us that aren't super wealthy to fly with more comfort, space and amenities. Personally, I think anyone who is snotty and pretentious enough to say that the $$$$ on airlines is made in the front of the plane is full of crap. Economy classes have ALWAYS been the airline industry's cash cow. That's why it's ALWAYS the cabin with the most seats on any aircraft the WORLD over!

As long as they aren't on strike. We were supposed to fly Air France in April and had to scramble for three hours on the phone to get another airline to take us. Thankfully KLM was there for us.

Last time I looked in to booking Air France they had had hard shell (non-reclining seats). The video appears to show that. As someone who is tall that’s an absolute no-no.

The seats are almost not reclinable, why the hell should i pay extra for that? You have more width, so you can sit diagonally, you can move easily, you have your "territory", bit flying sitting straight is still a torture. I only flew them and Lufthansa, the latter is MUCH better!

Air New Zealand is brilliant service in premium economy. Flew with them from LA to Melbourne and return. The seats are great as you can curl up in them (middle ones) and the sides ones give you that little bit of extra privacy. The food and wine selection is fantastic. You get business class meals, real knives, forks and glassware. Prices are really good too. Also few this leg in Business class, which I highly recommend. Apparently their sky couch in economy is good too. Can't rate NZ high enough!

Basically this is an advert for Recaro Seats. Pretty much the same incarnation from No 10 through to No 2, just different trim attached and seat covers and Thales IFE.

I went on Turkish airlines business class and its the best no joke they give you a hot towel and a place for foot rest blankets pillows proper nice iPads and loads of cakes and donuts

Premium Economy from Eva Airlines is pretty impressive with its generous space, seat comfort, quality of food, and great services. Not sure why it is not in top 10 (or may not be even included for rating?)

Agree with you 100% on Air NewZealand being number one. The ONLY airline I take yearly from Vancouver to Auckland, marvelous service, lots of leg room and very good food.

JAL Premium eco seat not only recline, but it seems like it rotate and tilt backward which make it more comfortable. I was surprised the first time I tried it.

I honestly never got the idea of premium economy until I saw Air France - looks amazing. Apart from that just feels like it’s better to go business or economy. Something in the middle doesn’t make quite a lot of sense.

Seats look nice, but super-uncomfortable. No separate bathrooms for premium economy either on Singapore to Sydney and Brisbane flights. Screens are nice.

I just flew Preium economy on Singapore airlines from Tokyo to Singapore. The fact it doesnt merit mention in this youtube video is correct. SIA premium economy sucks - not worth paying. Stick to economy and save up for business

Tell you what. Just cut out the "premium" bullshit and just give each and every economy passenger a little more room, both in pitch and seat width because as it is, we are just self loading freight. Try and make everyone happy, not just the ones with extra cash to burn.

They will go broke very quickly if they have to give you premium things for a standard price! Many airlines have 18 " economy seats with decent pitch and they seem to thrive. Right now, when JetA fuel has dropped 37 % in cost (their biggest expense) they plan capital expenditures (new planes) but say nothing about the comfort of their less well heeled passengers,so don't give me nonsense about them going broke if they give me a little more comfort for my flying dollars.

Yes , I will pay alittle more but so will everyone else, so all get a bit more. I know the airlines do the numbers but screw 'em. With JetA down 37%, they can give us poor shmucks some room., About to do 6 legs on Emirates (including A380) internationally. I will compare the service, comfort etc. but these bean counters who run US and Canada domestics had better take heed. People are getting fed up and will jump on the airline who treats them like humans. It's coming. Just did several legs with United before Xmas, mostly on newer 737 900s. All shiny and new car smell but stuffed in there with no room to move. Did a short leg from LA to San Francisco on a A320. Single aisle but wider fuselage. More room. Much more comfortable. Generally passengers don't care about stock holders and margins. They care about having more than peanuts and muscle cramps.

Pete Watson You should enjoy Emirates, I have flown economy once from Sydney to London and it was fantastic! The service was wonderful and food good. I am only 165cm tall and slim, so I found their seats comfy and had no problem. Apparently their a380 is wonderful for space and room, however, I can't comment. Have a great trip, enjoy!

Most definitely agree with Japan Airlines in the top 5! It looks impressive in Premium Economy and the customer service is like no other. What I like too is how the seats recline, in that, the back of the chair stays immobile (so you're not backing up into the person behind you) yet it's the seat/cushion that you maneuver to a reclining position. Full thumbs up to JAL, and special kudos to Turkish Airlines as well (great food and service)....

I flew Premium Economy in the "Space Seats" and they were utterly amazing. The staff are wonderful, the food is great, and the cabin was very peaceful. However, just a head's up that ANZ have refitted their 777s and the Space Seats are gone :( So, just a head's up that ANZ has changed their seating configuration in PE from 2-2-2 to 2-4-2; seating in economy is still 3-4-3. Also, be aware that PE passengers do not have lounge access but it really didn't matter to me. I would still fly ANZ in a heartbeat. They can't be beat for service.

Do the math. Business Class is more profitable for Airlines. Let's say that you have 50 business seats and 200 economy seats, and Business Class costs 6,000 USD, and Economy Class costs 1,000 a Seat. If 100 of those Economy seats are filled, and 15 Business seats are filled, then the airline will make 100,000 USD from Economy Class, and 150,000 from Business Class. These seat numbers are accurate, with Air France's Long Haul Boing 777-300s having 48 Business Class seats, and 206 Economy Seats. See! Business Class is more profitable for Airlines, they just can't get enough Business Class passengers to fill the whole plane with Business Class.

I have travel on Emirates Business Class & it definitely do not get the # 1 rating..Its totally something that is quite puzzling.Infact the other two Middle Eastern Airlines-Qartar & Etihad out rated them.,through my experiences.

My parents just paid a chunk of change to upgrade to premium economy...and were disappointed. The seats were very firm and stiff, the food was only fair. There was more leg room (appreciated), but my mom's seat didn't recline (broken), and when the person in front reclines, you cannot climb out of your seat without a production due to the limited space and strange seat angle. They have decided the extra money (over $300US each) was NOT worth it on BA.

Absolutely agree with Air NZ being No 1. We traveled Melb-Auckland-LA in premium economy. It was better than Qantas business class. Food terrific, staff just brilliant and dedicated to making a VERY long trip bearable. Movies electronics excellent. Whenever we travel now I want Air NZ premium economy. I liked Turkish Airlines too but I was in economy for that. Just brilliant. It's Cathay in seven weeks. I doubt given the reviews that it will come anywhere close. Samantha Ward

Have a look at Jet Airways premier economy. It’s completely flat bed. Most comfortable. Almost a business class at little higher economy class fare.

Interesting lots of comments who were amazed about air NZ being #1, check out the awards this airline has won over the last few years, on top of that being very innovative and also the launch customer for the 787-9 Dreamliner. Yes I spend my $'s flying Air NZ and mostly been economy have never been in the space seat although you will only find them on the 777-300, all other aircraft are now the same configuration and type to be all consistent across their long-haul fleet.

In my opinion WestJet is the best (also known as Plus Fare but same thing). On smaller airplanes it is practically the same thing but with included light snacks. On larger planes the middle seat is used as a mini table with cup holders. Multiple meals are included along with multiple snacks and drinks. Tablets are available for free to watch movies (usually a bit pricey). In select airports there are lounges. And WestJet has the best service in Canada if not North America!

Unfortunately, Air NZ's pod-style premium economy class wasn't commercially viable for the airline, as it required a 2-2-2 configuration instead of 2-3-2, and it's been phased out.

I personally think Southern China Airlines have really good premium economy seats. They have a lot of legroom, great service, and it is a recliner chair, meaning a leg stool pops up and the chair leans back a lot.

I used to fly London Hong Kong a lot and would agree with many of your ratings. Virgin Premium Economy was rubbish as you cannot raise the arm rest so cannot stretch across two seats. KLM which doesn't even make your top ten shouldn't either as it was cold, miserable and uncomfortable in PE. BA I used a lot and was sometimes upgraded to Business Class Club Class but their PE offering is very good and comfy. I agree Air New Zealand is the best. I flew London HK with them once in PE upstairs on a Jumbo and it was amazing. Quiet and very comfy, with exceptional food. Their afternoon tea with cakes and scones etc was amazing.

I miss that Space Seat Premium Economy Service on Air New Zealand, i loved it! Flew that service many times when i was having to cross the Tasman Sea a lot for business. Now its a more standard run of the mill business class seat, although things like food and service are superior than most other premium economy.

This looks good - until you realize that many airlines fly more than one type of aircraft between major destinations - and most of them have premium economy. You can get airlines that fly the new dreamliner, the 747 or the airbus. Which is better? Normally the one which doesn't have an old compacted seat. An airline isn't really the right way to rank premium economy - it needs to be "This airline - flying *this* aircraft." Otherwise you're comparing apples and armchairs.

Premium economy is basically divided to 2 categories: One is a more luxury economy class which is usually a more expensive economy class. Airlines like singapore airlines, cathay pacific, lufthansa is basically operating their premium economy class on this spectrum. The other one is less luxury business class, which price is like a "discounted business class". The ticket price on this premium economy class is still very expensive compared to economy class, but cheaper than business class. Air new zealand is operating their premium econ on this category.

last year I flew with China Airlines on its premium economy and I was very impressed with the staff and the seating arrangements and the big plus was the automatic upgrade to the business class from Taipei to Bangkok. great job. I am with them again this year and sad to say goodbye to EVA Airways. you were good but China is getting better.

we liked Iberia .... very comfortable seats, good recline with leg rest. service and food were outstanding for air travel, and plentiful . and you were treated very well... 2 seats a window and an isle.

There was an article once when they asked some high ranking Emirates official why they dont have a Premium Economy. His reply was that there regular Economy was almost as good as Premium Economy. But after seeing the Air New Zealands Premium Economy it looks more like business class to me. Wonder what there Business Class is like

I flew Air New Zealand Business Class 4 days ago - AMAZING!!! It looks similar to Premium Economy but more single booths and far superior, can turn into a bed with pillows and warm comfy blanket. Customer service 5 stars, food and drink 5 stars, entertainment 5 stars. Highly recommend!!!

From my perspective, the premium economy class of China Airlines is better than Etihad. But the premium economy class of Air New Zealand is unparalleled, I think it must be extremely expensive. BTW, nice video. :D

Unless they've revamped it from last year, I would have to vehemently disagree w Air France. It was a torture board (B777Paris-Boston) - leg rest kept popping up, and the whole seat moves down when you hit recline, so there's no actual increase in the seat-to-seatback angle. I was in misery the whole flight. Their A-320 coach was much more comfortable than this. The FA agreed and said they were going to replace them. For the sake of anyone reading this, I hope this is the new version!!

Btw I'm pretty sure the Air NZ premium economy seats were only on 772s or on 777 on long haul flights to lax and some other places and I'm pretty sure they're discontinued now which is sad.
