Leaping Lemmings, Dice Town, Mechs vs Minions, and Harmonies, are four games that I own and really enjoyed. Glad to see these on your list. Great video like always! Love this channel!!!
You guys always have such unique picks, it's hard not to have an amazon tab open while I'm watching your videos. ;) And I think y'all have sold me on Dice town. I've debated getting it for far too long!
I came to see where ARCS was going to rank. I was not disappointed with your choices. Best of the year and currently my favorite game of all my collection. straight fire
Halls of Hegra is probably my favorite play of the year. I have no idea how to win, but it’s so dang good. I rated it a 9.5 and may move it to a 10 when I play more!
I say Jeff or Jamie should do a play through on the channel. I would love to look more into cause I’m a huge solo gamer and am curious about war games.
@@coltonbeadz3002 it’s pretty rules heavy. I’d (Jeff) consider it but I know I’d make a thousand mistakes and get ripped apart in the comments haha. But I’ll consider it
guys I love your channel, your preferences for games is pretty close to me and my wife so I am always excited to see what's on your mind. I am on the fence regarding ARCS because most of the time me and my wife play together ( our children are too young to play more complicated games) so it will be amazing if you make a video or comment about your experience playing two player ARCS as it seems that the game is geared more towards 3 and 4 player counts.
Hey thanks so much for the love!! We will have a video coming out very soon (our next review-a-palooza) we played ARCS for it so you’ll hear our 2p first impression on it in that video!
Nice list, although I only played Harmonies 😅 (and would like to add it to our collection, but it's sold out everywhere so waiting for the reprint). Interested to play Distilled and Raising Robots. And maybe Arcs since you mentioned there it would play good at 2 players. Actually that really helps and adds a lot if you mention the numbers of players in your videos you think is best to play a game with. We only play our games at 2 players. And it seems you also do that, but also play a lot with others. And you play so many games we haven't played yet or know and of course always looking for new good games. 😁
Not sure if you guys have played it but LaGranja is a game I played the first time this year. I purchased the deluxe edition and boy is it nice!! Hand management ✔️ Multi-use cards ✔️ Resource management ✔️ Contract fulfillment ✔️ Tad bit of area majority ✔️ LOTS of modules to mix up gameplay ✔️
We really like Hegemony too and how it captures the actual sociecty in a board game, a very good game.👌🏽 We've played it at all different player counts (2,3 and 4) and even though we like it a 2, we think it really shines at 4 players as all the classes are in play and it's really interesting to see the interactions between the different parties😄
Having the government as something you negotiate with rather than automate is really fun. "Sure, you can crash the economy, but how will that affect your long term plans ?" That said, if you win by 2 points, it's really hard to figure out what you did wrong. That said, everybody, when our games have finished, have said "I'd really like to play that other faction, I have a few ideas on how I could make it a bit better" 🙂
Would be fun to see a video where you each pick your current top game for each type of game (favorite party game, trick-taking, deduction, solo, coin, euro etc). Almost like if you could only have one game in each category what would it be 🤔 great videos as always!
My favorite new game this year has been Obsession on BGA- now I am dying for a hard copy. Twilight Inscription was a positive surprise, and I’ve played a number of times solo. War of the Ring was a tough learn- watching an entire playthru really helped!
I feel like I'm repeating myself but I just love your videos. And this one is no difference. I could listen to you talking about board games all day. My favorite games from your lists are Distilled (which I own and have played) and War of the Ring (which I really want to play since Lord of the Rings is at least one of my top 3 franchises if not THE one favorite). I'm also curious about Arcs in a way. I want to see what the hype is about and I love the theme. My favorite games that I have played this year are: #3 Fromage #2 Distilled #1 Dog Park - seriously, I'm kind of obsessed with this game. It is so relaxing to me. I definitely want to get it and all of the (mini-)expansions this year at Essen Spiel if I can find them there.
I backed the UK campaign for Operation Barclay on your previous recommendation, and I'm so excited for its release. I'm not usually a big war game fan but the artwork is so cool, (it reminds me of old political cartoons you'd find in 1910's-40's Newpapers)- and I love the idea of it having that heavy deduction element. I wasn't sure whether or not to pre-order Arcs- but I think this has sold me on it!
Raising Robots is a Wingspan-killer. Thematic game, with assymetrical abilities. More player agency for resource gathering, better player interaction; but most of all, the amount of playtime for the complexity it brings. The game is ingenious for having simultaneous play as an engine builder. We've knocked out 4 player games in 60 minutes, and so we're able to play it more.
I don’t think anything will kill wingspan, and it doesn’t need to. But I do think they’ve done a great job adapting the system from wingspan into this one!
Have you guys played Marabunta from Reiner knizia? Sooooooo good! Feel like this is an evergreen classic for us. Two player only. (I split you choose area control) Trying to pick up dice town but it’s currently hard to find.
Hi! You said you only played Hegemony at 2 players. We are a two player only household and we didn't try hegemony as it doesn't seem to be recommended at this player count. Can you give me your thoughts if worked for you? It seems it did, since you added to the list, but any additional insights? Thanks a lot!
Jamie us patrons will let you share your list with us🤣🤣 I also am so happy I backed Luthier, which is the same makers as distilled. Crafting musical instruments speaks to me like no other game does.
I always have at least 2 games of Distilled going on Board Game Arena and got to play it in person recently and it's even better that way. I want it so badly! :)
You probably won't care but Mechs v Minions is a League of Legends game! Will definitely even be more enjoyable for those that know the universe. Great list!
Im in the wrong profession! I need a job as a board gamer 😂 523 plays! In half a year! I’m feeling good about my 41 plays for the year so far! (not including online) Loved the list!
Arcs is fantastic. The campaign so far has been awesome. Enjoying the unique goals of each Fate. I could probably just own games designed by Cole Werhle and be satisfied. John Company, Oath, and Root are in my top games. Arcs joins that club.
my wife and I love your content, so of course when we saw a link to Boardgamebliss for the games at a discount we headed straight there but it says the code is not valid for items in cart...what does the code apply to?
Great vídeo!!!! We hace got War of The ring since 3 years and it is closed 😂😂. It IS very difficult. Regards from Spain!!! You hace a great RU-vid Channel. 😊
@@FostertheMeeple I like it! Not as thematic as On Mars or Kanban EV but still really good imo. If you wants to play, I'm just a ferry ride away in NL lol
Not sure how hard Flip Ships is to find these days, but it was republished with the Space Invaders IP and I think the original game looks better. Maybe that will help Max like it more
Way to remind me I still want Dice Town and can’t find a copy 😭😭😭😅 Also literally mad respect for Vegas Showdown. I’m genuinely impressed, that game is soooo under appreciated but the components are so bad it should be a crime lol
I want to try the War of the Ring game so badly but I need to find someone who is into games like this. And it may help to have someone regularly, since it's such a big game.
Hi. You have one game that I have. It's the ALIEN theme of Legendary Encounters. Great game! Extremely hard to play. I love it. I also have the Queen expansion. Haven't played it yet. But I want to.
You guys have no idea how many games my wife and I have bought just on your recommendation - some we haven't even opened up yet. Right now the latest batch of games that you inspired has been Calico, Hegemony, Radlands, Grand Austria Hotel, and Res Arcana - freakin' Amazon Prime day. Our local game store had a sale a few weekends back too. We have to get down to business and get to playing! Edit: I forgot Arcs too.
@@FostertheMeeple - no need to apologize, we’ve loved every one of your recommendations… we have disposable income and this is how we like to spend it! just… maybe not put out so many “top (however many) videos” - it’s really Jamie’s “honorable Mentions” that put us close to the limit 😂
@@FostertheMeeple Just curious how that works. I have several games listed on the BGA beta section but Harmonies is not one. Do they only do trials for some members? I am in no rush, just wondering.
@@sueknew01 I’m assuming someone invited you to beta games? Once you’re invited once I believe it shows up on your list even when you don’t have access to the full list. It’s also possible it’s still in Alpha.
@@FostertheMeeple I actually am not in 3 games haha just 1, I just thought it was funny how the 2 of you were trying to one up each other with how many games you were currently in.
