Awesome video! It's great to see so many young talents that could join the team. I've been a Habs fan since the mid-80s, and I've never been this excited and optimistic about their future!
I agree largely with your analysis, but I think Hutson will hit a wall at some point because of his size, and will have to overcome it. If he isn't able to do so, he will not be able to thrive in the NHL. I think Beck and Roy wont produce at the pace we would like them to. I think Hage and Mailloux will turn out better than you expected. Specially Hage. From what I saw at the habs development camp, he had a gear extra than everyone else on the ice, and made a sick pass for an assist. He was already in another league amongst the players present in the game. Mailloux will be Shea Webber's replacement in the lineup. In two years he will be first pair and will be an essential part of the power play with his dangerous slap shot being another threat along with Demidov's moves and Slafkofski's physical presence and skills.
Thanks for your comment. You know you can't disagree with people having different opinions. I think your statement has valid points for each player you mentioned, but I have a different view on Mailloux and Hage. Just remember, Hage was the most talented player on the ice, and 99% of the players there won't play in the NHL. I have my reservations about Hage. That said, he has the skills to play and have a good career in the NHL. I see him like Trocheck from the Rangers. Time will tell, and again, thanks for sharing.
@@HockeyNationLiveShow @HockeyNationLiveShow You are more knowledgeable than me obviously, Hage to me has almost the same hockey IQ and puck skills as Roy, except he is taller and quicker. Mailloux has gone through so much hardship (deserved or not), he will be unstoppable. If he becomes like Trocheck, it will be fantastic. Roy still has a chance to become a dominant NHL player. He is the kind of player that when you look at his highlights, you don't really understand what just happened. You have to look at the slow motion replay to see what really happened. He has the ability to score in a chaotic situation where the traffic is dense and the puck is hard to find. You will not see him pulling off a great individual effort. He just reacts brilliantly to split second decisions when the traffic is dense. This is a special talent. Obviously I wish him all the best and would love to have a french Quebecois in the regular top six.
A nice top ten. I said before that RHP was not a as good as people projected. I feel the same amount Roy. He might be a decent bottom 6 maybe paired very well with Owen Beck. My top 3 are Ivan demidov Lane Hutson and jacob Fowler. I have never been so excited about a goalie since we selected Carey Price. I also see Fowler getting stronger and he is going to get even better.
I would put Reinbacher below Engstrom at this point, he did not standout in the NHL. Hague, Hutson, Demidov for me. That Reinbacher pick will haunt this team for years watching Michkov and Leonard thrive while The Bach morphs into a 3-4 defensive dman lol, just an awful decision.
I appreciate your comment, but the kid has not played any games yet. Did you watch him in Laval? He had 5 points in 11 games with most of his TOI in a new environment. Small areas, etc. Remember, it's not about comparing players one-on-one, but thinking about what Reinbacher will do for the Habs during the playoffs versus what Leonard will do with the Capitals. For example, Bennett for the Panthers had a specific role, just like Barkov and Montour. It's a team concept. Reinbacher is 6'2", 195 pounds, and you need size in the playoffs. This is how I will evaluate him in 5 years; before that, it's too early.
@@HockeyNationLiveShow I watched him in Laval, I don't see anything special compared to Logan for example. He may be a decent shutdown dman, I wouldn't blow a top 5 pick on a guy like this, no chance.
@@elvisisalive2716 time will tell. I watched him last 3 years no doubt in my mind he is going to be solid defenseman in nhl like Adam Larsson. Problem with Mailloux is his defensive zone coverage and his decision making overall
Reinbacher is 6'3", 209 lbs. Hutson played 2 games with Montreal and was -2. His offensive ability is not in question as he's highly skilled as described but he's a defenseman and needs major work playing in the Dzone. Where they play 2 games a week in the NCAA it allows players the advantage to beef up and pack on muscle, Hutson chose not to and an NHL defenseman at 161 lbs is concerning. Roy played 23 games and was -2, he has defensive senses, offensive skill, needs work on skating/speed, physicality and getting more power behind his shot would serve him well. He'll be an excellent 3 line player and could very well become a legitimate 2nd liner. Personally my feelings about Demidov is I hope he turns out to be all he's hyped up to be. Being "elite" in the MHL is one thing but translating to the NHL is another and the injury history is concerning. For one, the wide leg stance while gliding will make him vulnerable. Montreal could have got Tkachuk but chose Kotkaniemi...Utah was ecstatic to land Iginla. Hage, Beck, Fowler, Reinbacher, Kapanen, Mailloux, Engstrom (who shoots left but plays strong on the right side)...if all these players translate to the NHL, when my concerns with Demidov prove unwarranted the Habs will have a great line up and we'll be watching some hockey in MTL that we haven't seen in years. If Thorpe, Koivu, Sawyer, Volokhin and any others turn into surprise talents this organization will be overflowing with skill and depth (and won't be able to keep them all). Physicality up front is still questionable...those players disruptive to the opponent's breakout and transition game. The top ten is an excellent pool of prospects to look forward to.
First of all, thanks for your comment and input. According to the Elite Prospects website, Reinbacher is 6'2" and 194 pounds. I checked PuckPedia, and it shows the same. The NHL website lists him as you said. However, I have never seen Reinbacher listed as 6'3". Anyhow, I almost entirely agree with your points about Roy, Hutson, and the rest of the players. Please continue to write more comments like this. I appreciate it. Have a great day!
1- Demidov 2- Hutson 3- Reinbacher 4- Hage 5- Konyushkov 6- Kapanen 7- Mailloux 8- Roy 9- Beck 10- Engstrom I didn't include goalies, but I think Fowler is the future Carey Price of the Habs. if we go by tiers Demidov (top 12 most pts in the NHL, SUPERSTAR) ^ Hutson, Fowler (top 15 best D in NHL and top 10 best goalie in NHL, HIGH ELITE STAR) ^ Reinbacher, Hage (top 2 D in top 16 teams, top 6 forward in top 16 teams, STAR/SEMI-STAR) ^ Konyushkov (top 4 D in top 16 teams, SEMI-STAR) ^ Kapanen, Mailloux, Roy, Beck, (middle 6 forwards in top 16 teams, top 4 D in bottom 16 teams, SEMI-SEMI-STAR) ^ Engstrom, Kostenko, Nurmi, Berqvist, F-Xhekaj, Eriksson, Koivu, Farrell, Kidney, Thorpe, Protz, Mittelstadt, Gordin and Sobolev (top 6 D or bubble D, and bottom 6 forwards or bubble forwards, PLUMBERS/DEPTH/BUBBLE) In a year from now, my list would change for sure. A lot happens in a year.
I love it. Why? Because different opinions are necessary to learn new things. If I remove Fowler, yes, Konyushkov is there, but he's #5 for me. Thanks for sharing, and please continue to make more comments. In a few days, I will do a pyramid pipeline for the Habs, and I think you will agree more with my choices. Have a great day!
Most underrated is Logan Mailloux... One of the best rookie in AHL, the 3rd best league in the world. He will be close of Hutson... and better than Hutson on some aspect of the game. better than Reinbacher for sure.
Very possible. Do you consider him a first-pairing defenseman? How do you rate his defensive zone coverage compared to Guhle? How do you evaluate his skating versus Hutson? How do you assess his hockey sense and IQ compared to Hutson? That said, I believe he can be a second-pairing defenseman with the Habs, with a good role on the PP. Unfortunately, as long as Hutson is there, he will play on the PP2. In the playoffs, he will be a great asset for the Habs. But in the long term, you will realize why Reinbacher is better than Mailloux. Time will tell.
@@HockeyNationLiveShow He played less hockey than the others because of his suspension and injuries. During the season, he'll be in the first pair. His defense needs improvement and he's more physical than Ghule. Hutson is more agile and has a better hockey IQ but Mailloux is faster. Unlike Hutson, Mailloux will be all around player, on PP, PK and in critical moments of the game. At the same age, Mailloux was better than Reinbacher. Look at when Bergevin took Mailloux... A lot of teams went crazy criticizing the CH. A lot of teams wanted him as their first pick. In the AHL his improvement was huge in all aspect of the game.
Love your dailies Coach…I think Beck will surprise and Roy may disappoint but regardless, this is a strong prospect pool and the future LOOKS bright for the HABS
@@RB-wg3qm I think is because we did not see enough of him yet. Remember RHP two years ago 14 goals then last year he struggles. Roy expectations could be too high maybe. That’s how I think about Roy thanks for your question..
@@HockeyNationLiveShow OK. Understandable. I always believed RHO was a flash in the pan. I wanted the Habs to trade him. For Roy, he was the 1st pick in the Q draft, but got to his head. I think he fixed that.
@@pachena I understand your statement, but I think there is something to be said about the fact that they are starting at different points. Primeau was a 7th round pick, Fowler a high 3rd. It is a different pedigree. ALSO, I trust the management that drafted Fowler more than the one that took a flier on Primeau.
Look their different path in their youth hockey career. Fowler was the MVP USHL Fowler is first year bring his team all the way to the NCAA Final game... Primeau was the last pick of his Draft 7th round and Fowler was 69th overall pick... I am pretty sure Fowler will have a better career in the NHL.
I mentioned it... he's #11 for me right now. The KHL is a different league. Now, can he become better than Mailloux, Reinbacher, and Hutson? I don't think so. Meanwhile, you could be right about Engstrom, but I really like Engstrom. I didn't put Bogdan in the top 10, but he's #11. Thanks for your comment!
