Most of you are probably already thinking of cities in California. And, well, you’d be right! Currently, there are just under 600,000 homeless people in the US, according to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. There are several ways to make this list, with one being the most amount of homeless people per capita. The problem with that, is you’d end up with a list of small towns that no one has ever heard of. So, for this list, we will go with raw numbers. Which then brings us to the New York vs Los Angeles debate. New York City actually has more homeless people, but fewer unsheltered homeless people. Unsheltered homeless means they are living on the streets, in tents, or in the subway. Sheltered homeless are people who may be considered homeless, but are staying on a friend’s couch, or in a hotel. Getting an accurate picture is tough, since homelessness can be defined in so many ways, so here is our best list based on the city’s reported numbers on unsheltered homeless people.

There is no democratic freedom in the United States, only the freedom of plutocrats. The United States is not a country in the traditional sense. The United States is a company, and plutocrats control the entire government. Coincidentally, all countries regarded as enemies by the United States are government-controlled plutocrats!

In the USA, individuals living in cars due to partial homelessness result from a complex interplay of factors. High housing costs relative to income, stagnant wages, and income inequality drive this issue. Job loss, weak social support, medical expenses, evictions, and lack of affordable housing also contribute, while systemic problems and inadequate policies further perpetuate the phenomenon.

Considering the present situation, diversifying by shifting investments from real estate to financial markets or gold is recommended, despite potential future home price drops. Given prevailing mortgage rates and economic uncertainty, this move is prudent, particularly due to stricter mortgage regulations. Seeking advice from a knowledgeable independent financial advisor is advisable for those seeking guidance.

That's what happens when you allow illegal immigration. More taxes needed to provide for the poor illegal immigrants which come from the middle class. At some point you end up with 2 classes, the wealthy and the poor. That's the road many liberal democrat run states are on. Americans need to wake-up before it's to late.

it's the same with the Salvation Army: zero tolerance would seem like a good thing, but it gives the SA an out, and they take in people that remain under their control. My aunt bequethed a huge sum to them in her will, and while I understand, this problem is only getting worse EVERYWHERE in N. America. There is NO rental available where I am in a recreation village in Canada. Houses continue to go up, third and even fourth homes for people with deep pockets. Their second home is in Scottsdale for the winter, of course.

I've witnessed a landlord along with a sheriff toss a handicap woman ♿️ out along with her belongings while she's was in tears. She always paid her rent on time until the landlord decided to double her rent. Half of the units in our complex are vacant. If I didn't own my unit(paid it off 13 years ago), I probably would be homeless, too. I don't make the money I used to when I was young, plus I can't afford to pay $2,000 a month on a small one bedroom apartment.

when FAMILIES start hitting the streets and the blue tents, that's when you are past the tipping point of no return. in Canada I've known a few single parents that were homeless for awhile, and were pretty resourceful about it, but the govt. here on all levels will NOT allow seniors or families to hit the streets, esp. if they're NOT involved with alcohol or drug issues. We also have the MCC (Mennonite Central committee) and the asian Tongs, and they will intervene QUIETLY and help their community.

Somebody should try to put some of homeless people to work like build housing? Lot of homeless people are skilled tradesmen and very good but they are there for making bad choice, give them a chance to do something about it and maybe they will? I am not saying it will work every time but if it works even little it's worth it. Start with educating how to cope with life and that is a skill that lot of people lack not due to parents lack of education but due to parents have to work 2 sometimes 3 jobs or very long hours to make ends meet and no tome to spend with kids and this is direct result of that.

Controversial statement: If you have a mental illness or are on drugs, you should immediately be placed in a rehabilitation environment. Some may need to stay there forever. A homeless person (without metal or substance abuse) should be forced to utilize a public shelter, and never be allowed to sleep on the streets. A public shelter should be the law for every homeless person. A rehabilitation shelter should be the law for all mental or substance dependent homeless person. Now... tell me how crazy I am!

I was a homeless vet in LA in a shelter for a year of my life. I wasn't on drugs. I didn't threaten to kill my case worker. And I showed up to all my appointments (sober) got my VA benefits and got out. LA cares more that a Kardashian girl farted than about the homeless on their streets. Most of whom are Black, which is interesting for a place that claims to be so Blue. I left the shelter ten years ago this past May. If I had stayed in LA waiting for affordable housing I'd be dead by now.

that's why in BC Victoria (lefty heaven) doesn't WANT any services other than Boys Club and the Salvation Army (no drugs, no alcohol). BC's left wing WANTS all the street issues to be in one place: the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver. Everyone there is from someplace else. I know; I managed a bldg. there for a few years.

It's no wonder with the cost of rent in America that there are so many homeless. Florida too will continue to get worse. Property taxes on rental properties have become outrageous in Florida. The government and/or state of Florida is stealing our money and causing rent prices to spike each year.
