I’m a big Stockport county fan and since we fell into non league I’ve fallen in love with it and your Chanel keep it up and make every person who loves non league proud.
Never expected to appear once in one of your videos let alone twice! I referee American football and I'm in the background at 1:01 in Leicester and 6:07 at Halton. Love the videos, keep up the great work and congrats on 10k!
Northern Ireland has a couple of interesting groundshares. Lisburn Distillery’s ground is also used for greyhound race and Ballymena United has a stock car oval around it. A few years ago, a car spun onto the grass and left some tyre marks on the freshly relaid pitch.
Though not suiting the video due to being a) abroad and b) at a league level, my favourite mad one like this is FC Lahti's ground, Lahden Kisapuisto. They play in the Veikkausliga, the top level in Finland. The stadium hosts 4000 people, and has an athletics track. So far so normal. However: - At one end of the stadium behind the goal there is a small grass bank to protect the ball from falling into the huge bowl underneath the set of three ski jumps behind that end - During the winter the stadium is re-appropriated for cross-country skiing seeing as the Finnish season runs through the summer due to the harsh, snowy winters being unsuitable for football, with courses running up into the hills around the pitch but the flat start/finish being in the football ground - The stadium has also hosted the biathlon World Cup, using the athletics track on the near side of the pitch for skiing on and the rest of the pitch being converted into a shooting range thanks to no seating on that side of the ground - At the opposite end of the ground from the ski jumps there's a bank used for seating and a small wooded area, with an ice hockey arena behind that, and another multi-sport arena behind the main stand - A few years ago (don't know if it's still like this) in the winter if you turned up with your own skis, you could just walk in and strap them on, and in summer if there was no training session or anything going on, you could just turn up with a ball and have a kickabout. mhaapa.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/lahti-sport-city.jpg
As with all your videos some outstanding research....good lick to Kiddy this season, one of my favourite away days when Tranmere were on their break from the EFL.
You could’ve also had Cowdenbeath, also I’m the Scottish 4th tier. Their Central Park pitch had a stock car racing track round the edge. Totally unique.
Speedway bikes rarely crash on to the infield. They tend to hit the fence. Berwick doesn't really count as a non-league ground surely as they play in the Scottish League. The Shay at Halifax in it's former incarnation had a speedway track too, as did Barrow at one time.
I was at AFC Mansfield the other week, with my team, Ossett United, I can safely say one of the worst grounds I've been to. The roller blade track makes it so you're about a good 20m away from the pitch at all times. Behind the goals there is also a fence either side which is around 5 and a half feet tall, so you have to be 6" + to potentially to be able to see well. Although the clubhouse is quite old fashioned, there's lots of variety in the bar, so that's one of the only good things about the ground to be honest.
Hey Luke, I think you would like doing the research and video for this old and renovated stadium from oswestry town fc. Park hall stadium. It had a clay running track around it when I played there. If you need pictures I can supply them for you. I am an American player who played in the old ground.
As an American who likes both American football and what we call soccer about equally i was aware of the NFL playing games in London and wanting to possibly expand there or put a league there but I didn't know the sport was popular enough to the point where you already have your own leagues for the sport. I just kinda assumed it was a modern fascination with the sport
Could i point out a couple of mistakes you made. The town Darlington used to play at is Bishop Auckland not Bishops and Berwick Rangers play at Shielfield Park not Sheffield. I know it’s only minor things but I’m from the north east and it stands out for me. Otherwise a great video
Barrow afc used to have a speedway track round it at holker st when they where in the league, its also believed to be a reason as to why they got voted out of the leagues
Fun fact about Leicester Road: They're based in Hinckley. Hinckley AFC play outside of Hinckley, on a road called... Leicester Road. So, how about Top 10 Teams That Play(ed) Furthest From Their Home Town (Truro might win that though!)
Its Shielfield Park not Sheffield, but also in the same league (Scottish League 2) is Cowdenbeath FC's Central park which hosts stock car racing believe it or not and in Scottish non league (not sure the actual league) is Ashfield FC a Juniors team from Glasgow who host Glasgow Tigers speedway
Oh and Albion Rovers ground Cliftonhill Stadium used to host Greyhound racing, but i suppose it wouldnt count as it hasnt for a while, but you can tell where the track was by looking at it
@@joshm3059 They're still part of that Ladbrokes 4 tier system though. I would say that Highland/Lowland League would be where non league begins in Scotland
