CB Scheme Fits:
Press Man / Cover 3: Long corners often with good straight line speed. Press-Man corners are asked to stay on the outside and typically not travel. While their responsibilies will vary, they are typically asked to press and limit quick releases and protect their side of the field whether thats in straight up man-to-man coverage or taking away their third or quarter of the field in zone coverage. These prototypes are almost always regarded as stiff weak in man coverage running cross field.
Man: Fast, quick corners who can match the quickest of receivers and run with anyone, often to the point that this play may be asked to "shadow" certain receivers. May lack length and do not excel with press coverage. Also may lack experience and/or understainding running zone coverage and may be inconsistent doing so.
Balanced Boundary: Corners with an average skillset and size to press and play man or zone coverage on the boundary, though the player likely doesn't excel in either. Due to a lack of lateral ability, lack of tackling skills or physicality, or being perceived as too tall this player is likely not suited for a slot corner role.
Slot*: Corners who project best into the nickel. These corners excel in lateral movement skills, ball skills, toughness against the run, among other things. Quickness is prioritized over length and long speed as many of the routes defended from the slot are sudden and not downfield.
