@@dylantarboton What do they need protection from? It's not American football. I took martial arts and we only wore head gear, gloves, foot protection, and a cup. Other than that, no protection from actual intended kicks and punches. Soccer players are almost as bad as NBA players.

Idc about your karate, but in karate you're expected and trained to not get hit. If you're getting hit you're obviously not very good. Football players get hit off the ball by other players. There's a clip of the italian captain literally throwing an english player and nobody was crying. They suffer more injuries like knee sprains and dislocations and that's just from being tackled at the wrong time. They suffer from concussions more than your american football players do. Shin splints is another big one. Just 'cause you see clips of certain players doesn't talk for all of football, if that was the case than nobody would watch F1 or MotoGP if people only saw clips of Red Bull in F1 or Marquez in MotoGP. Another thing, american football players have literal pieces if armour on and they cry about injuries, so who are the real pussies?

By that metric we must also include Shoya Tomizawa and Luis Salom. Hope I got their names right. Rest in peace.

Lorenzo rode Yamaha last in 2016 and hence crash could have happened earlier than 2017

Tomizawa was worse compared to Salom which was only filmed on CCTV and not well visible. Shoya was in full view of the tele and replayed over and over again during the live broadcast. Marco, what can i say. I was a spectator witnessing every moment of it; it stopped me from going to races for 2 years.

Crashes as violent as these don't happen OFTEN, but crashing generally does happen quite a bit. I'd maybe say 1 person per race retires.
