and the reason the colony vanished was becaused they were running low on resources and just decided to assimilate into a local peaceful indian tribe whose crops were plentiful.
@@nyxskids it's literally part of the curriculum in NC elementary from 1st to 5th grade. I knew more about The Lost Colony than I did about my own city
@@colleenglanville8293 I guess the trick is just keep your mind aware that it is a movie, I do it by detecting little details or clichés like, whoa that chick has perfect make-up for a post apocalyptic survivor, or she's the super hot silly blonde she's gonna die first.
Yes, I've only seen RU-vid videos about six times, plus four or five more on various cable TV networks. "few people know about," my (bleep). stay safe.
Mmm maybe, but the ones who are from other countries have no idea XD I have never heard of any of these except the top 4 XD Keep in mind not only Americans watch these videos
The spookiest thing about the Oureng Medan is the fact that there are no records it existed, and the ship that supposedly found it has no record of any such incident :o
Because it's a fake ass story perpetuated by idiotic youtubers like this person who doesn't do the slightest semblance of research on any of the subjects 🤦🏼♂️
Perhaps a Portuguese treasure hunter from the 18th Century found some ancient Roman Treasure which contained urns and pottery and brought it to his plantations in Brasil but ultimately decided to keep the gold and drop the pottery, does that sounds reasonable?.
Thank you for describing the honorable mentions too. ☺️ It’s really helpful for blind people like me. Please consider Liking this comment so that they know how helpful it is and how much we appreciate it. ❤️
"The Voynich Manuscript" *"There Are Theories That The Book Might Have Been Written In A Kind Of Encoded Latin, Or An Alien Wrote It While Being Held Captive In A Monastery."* I don't know how anyone could say that with a straight face lol! 😂😂😂
@@colleenglanville8293 I have a laugh imagining the monks trying to catch a Predator and the Predator easily whacking all the monks in less then three minutes, hahahaha
The honourable mentions are usually the ones on the list that they’re just too lazy to research/explain. Once they already have 10 for a video, they give up on the other ideas, and just call them honourable mentions.
"Top 10 creepiest mysteries You've Never Heard Of" then the number 6 spot is roanoke. WTF every kid that goes thought the American school system hears about it.....
@@patrickbracken3363 since 16% of youtubes viewers are from the US. And that percent is bigger if you narrow it down to English speaking country's. Idk a fair amount of the people watching. And a quick Google search says about 90 percent of watchmojo viwers are from the us.
Supernatural and Haven both used references to Croatoan. Other shows have, too. Of course, Supernatural did EVERYTHING. They hit the Wendigo in the SECOND episode, IIRC.
I'd be most interested in the Havannah-incident being solved as I've experienced something similar in Switzerland and would like to have an idea WTF it was. I was walking in a city park and heard something faint reminding me of a construction site where a truck dumps a huge amount of gravel. I knew the area and was thus certain that there was no such construction site and the sound just didn't stop. The further I walked, the louder it got and I could feel a pressure on my body as if I was submerged in water. It made me feel uneasy and I looked around, but no-one else seemed to pay it any attention, but since I suspected it to be a very loud sound outside my hearing range causing the sensation of pressure and vibration, I feared for my ears and turned around and ran off. (it's just like invisible rays can damage your eyes, just that you can barely hear something doesn't make it safe). The one thing I did notice was that the sound apparently scared away all animals that you'd normally find around the park. For instance, pigeons find plenty of food at the coffee next to it. Lastly, it does frustrate me that I could not locate the source of the noise. I could see wide and far in the park, but from the place where it got too intense for me, I couldn't see anything suspicious.
"The Tunguska Event" *"Shockwaves Rippled Across Europe, The Night Sky Was Illuminated For Weeks After, And People Were Able To Read Their Newspapers In The Middle Of The Night From London To Asia."* Wow, that's actually kind of interesting... I'm actually curious on what have caused it to happen! 🤔
There's a chance that it was Nicola Tesla's Wardenclyffe tower. Keep in mind that in 1908 Tesla published a book called "Wireless Telegraphy and Telephony", so if anything was capable of producing the Tunguska event, it could have been one of his inventions.
There was a wild theory that the meteor could actually destroy a good chunk of Europe and that exploding in mid air would have not been possible because of its mass and that something actually destroyed it before it made impact.
Meteor is the accepted answer there was testing done on mineral samples believed to have come from it. But the thing that brings up questions is the heat of the explosion being strong enough to almost turn any potential fragments of it to dust. It was definitely one of the strongest impacts and explosions on Earth though.
Tim S Not only that but it didn't even leave a dent on the earth, it just burned all the trees that it was near... also the fact that this explosion eliminated the sky even during the night is quite bizarre as well, so it's all quite unique really! 😄😁👍
Right? I was slightly excited when I started the video after reading the title as I have been routinely watching a great deal of unsolved mystery videos in the last few months and over time have found less and less new examples per video. But, as it so happens, the creator of this video has a different definition of “never heard” than I do
Watchmojo: U.S. Diplomats claimed to have tramatic brain injury symptoms following the alleged sound attacks in Cuba Also Watchmojo: Plays a sound that matches the same frequency of the sound heard for all of us to hear
Audio compression cuts off the allegedly damaging frequencies Just beware of the uncompressed sound played through analog equipment and speakers with a very broad range of frequency
yeah i listen with headphones on and that made me feel a bit sick afterwards. Psychosomatic I am sure ... Also, this story was in all the media at the time. We heard about it, and it was super freaky and mysterious and still scary.
There is only about 2 of them that I never heard of. I used to be obsessed with Unsolved Mysteries on tv and it had a lot of the same stories. Thank you for a good video and I love the content on your channel 👍
This would more correctly be titled "The same old mysteries everyone has heard of and some have been solved." Turkish language scholars have cracked the Voynich code and translated at least 30 percent of the text so far. The only stories here that haven't been done to death are a couple of the honorable mentions.
#1 'The Dyatlov Pass Incident' has been solved, and there are some amazing videos out there explaining in detail what happened to the hikers. I'm more surprised the case of 'D.B. Cooper' isn't on this list in any way. That should be #1 on this list for sure.
@@harish123az everybody has heard of roanoake, dyatlov pass, tamam shud, the toynbee tiles, walter collins, havana syndrome & the max headroom hack too. this list is more like "creepy mysteries we covered in our last creepy mysteries video."
Actually, it hasn’t been proven or solved. That explanation doesn’t make any sense either, since they have to jump over the railing. The most widely accepted theory is that they are attracted by the scent of a particular type of mink that lives in burrows below the bridge,
Most of these are on like every "Creepy" "Mysterious" "Unsolved" "Strange" or "Spooky" list video out there. I've heard about Max Headroom and Roanoke like half a dozen times. The latter was a plot supernatural for at least one episode. It may have even been the season lol
2 days ago I've seen supernatural episode and searched for Roanoke colony on internet and today I got notifications of watchmojo. Something is supernatural here🤔
Awesome video! I loved it! Although, to be fair, I honestly don't know of *anyone* who hasn't heard of the lost colony of Roanoke, for instance, and the Ourang Medan is *fairly* famous too. Still, I haven't heard of the others for the most part. Nice video, as usual. =)
I'm pretty sure WatchMojo isn't too far away from producing a video like "Top 10 Musical Artists You May Not Have Heard Of Who Died Mysteriously...#10 Elvis Presley..."
The field of jars was explained. A Portuguese man made some replicas of roman Jars that he found in the Mediterranean, since Italian laws forbid him to bring them to Brazil. He let those jars in the guanabara bay, hoping to reclaim them after a couple years to make them more similar to the original. In the meantime, someone found those jars and claimed to be real roman artifacts. Source: The Portuguese Navy: Revista da Armada” (Portugal) de fevereiro de 1989:

You got exactly 10 second to write a last message to explain whatever you know about the situation you're in before you die. Grammar should be the least of your concerns :P
SuperSylar I mean, you have a point there... people who are scared will most definitely mess up on their grammar, also English wasn't their first language either, but at least they tried! 🤷♀️
I love Josh Gates and mysteries, so there were several of these that I knew about. But, counting the honorable mentions, there was a bunch I didn't know too.
I was so into the Voynich manuscript, who knows it could have been in a code by some genius. Now I like to have fun & think an innocent teenage alien lost his diary on his first trip to Earth on a school excursion hahaha
I'm pretty certain anyone with even a passing interest in unsolved mysteries or the paranormal has heard of and knows everything there is to know about all of these. It's not like there isn't a million other RU-vid channels that have already done these to death.

The Roanoke colony story is hilarious. The leader left for several years more than intended, comes back, the colony’s gone and someone carved Croatoan on a tree. Then, the Croatoan tribe just casually has members with much fairer skin tones. They left a note and everything and historians are like...huh what a mystery.
The Roanoke colony wasn't a mystery. When he came back and discovered they were gone. "Croatoan" was carved in the tree. Knowing his trip would take months. He specifically told the Colony that if they ever had to relocate to leave a message in that very tree. That colony was friendly and traded with the Croatoa tribe. They let him know they relocated and integrated with the tribe. He turned it into a mystery knowing that if the homeland found out about this. They surely would have decimated the tribe. So to keep the Croatoa tribe secret. He concocted a story how the colony went missing when they didn't so they wouldn't be hung for treason and the tribe wiped out
When you're kinda freaked out by this list. But then can't help but dance and be afraid at the same time when the beat drops during the Honorable Mentions portion lol

Among the history of airwave hijackings, I wish there were more like the Max Headroom Incident. Most others are used to spread boring stuff like religious or political messages. More should be the balls-to-the-walls, avant-garde craziness that is the Max Headroom hijacking.
@@peggyjones9080 I just mean that whenever people have highjacked a broadcast in the past, they use it to spread messages about their political or religious point-of-view. From what I can tell, the people behind the Max Headroom Incident highjacked the broadcast just because they could, and used that air time to prank everyone watching that station. Pretty time consuming just for a prank but that's what i love about it!
“Mysteries you’ve never heard of!” Except that they’re all the most notorious mysteries in the world??? The honorable mentions were more mysterious. Come on Mojo. Do better.
If you are going to discuss a mystery or story about a sound that has damaged people, please DO NOT any sounds related to it. Especially if you are not sure if it really hurts people. Not only is that annoying, it's incredibly dangerous. When I was in 4th grade, the Lavender Town soundtrack theory was going strong on the internet. My friend and I decided to watch a video about it and the man who was talking about the songs played a song. We panicked and covered our ears. But Jania had uncovered her ears too early and heard a full minute of the song. She experienced a strong headache for the rest of the day. She expressed anger, misery, and anxiety for the rest of the day as well. The high frequency must of really hurt her ears because she was not feeling very well that night after the video. So please, don't play the sounds unless you know for sure that it was cause any damage.
