The moments that led up to that line are arguably the greatest fight sequences ever put to film, so sad the magic George Lucas wanted to put on the screen is so scarce in the newer entries
I’m surprised Pong Krell’s command didn’t make the list. Not only was his fight against the 501st and 212th clones brutal by itself, but the fact that he gave them orders with the intent of sacrificing their lives and he tricked the 501st and the 212th into a firefight that killed Waxer by friendly fire was surprisingly brutal.
Now when you said it.. 501st fighting against 212th due to a mastermind’s plot..it’s kind of foreshadowing Anakin and Obi-wan, their respective generals, becoming enemies right?🤔
The Clone wars order 66 Scene had to be the saddest moment of Star Wars I’ve ever seen Rex was literally trying to fight the inhibitor chip but in the end it was just too much
Star Wars made me fall in love with Cinema. Remember being a little 6 year old watching the original trilogy before Episode 1 was announced. Absolutely amazing.
yeah like when he killed his opponent in the throne room, or when he gets tortured by palpatine or when he was insane when savage found him, he did kill to long time clone wars characters, that arc was so dark to the point that it was like a star wars: game of thrones,
Order 66 is the most darkest and horrifying moment ever in the universe of Star Wars when we can see all the clone troopers killing all the jedis in the movies and series of Star Wars
@@rjwong521 that’s why it became an instant classic at my home. My son was five at the time and we’ve rewatched that series at least three times. So much in Avatar.
To me, the darkest moment in the franchise is that Clone Wars Episode when a clone malfunctions and begins obeying Order 66 prior it's execution. It is a grim foreshadow of the Order itself and its sad because he dies while everyone else believes he was a defect gone rogue.
Rex listened, but at the time he didn't understand. At least the warning Fives issued got through to Rex and eventually Ahsoka who were both saved from Order 66 when it was issued.
To me, the movies made Tusken Raiders look like savages. But the Mandalorian series shows their people can be reasoned with. Doesn't that make Anakin killing them even darker?
I think so, but we do need to take into consideration that nobody Anakin knew had any knowledge on how to communicate with them, including himself. However it kind of gives perspective to the point the Mandalorian makes: nobody tried to reason with them in the first place.
I think one thing to remember is that the Mandalorian occurs after AotC. As the book “Kenobi” revealed, Anakin’s slaughter of the Tusken camp had a profound effect on the sand people overall. They realized that the massacre was in connection to them abducting somebody, which causes them to almost completely cease attacks on human settlements. So the events of AotC may have played a part in the Tuskens being willing to trade.
I knew Order 66 would be number 1. It’s been more than 15 years since that film came out (and 1 year since The Clone Wars ended) and yet it NEVER fails to turn me into a complete wreck with my eyes a nonstop waterfall. And like the narrator said, with the expansion of the stories in The Clone Wars, now knowing that the clones were programmed into being forced to kill their friends against their will, only makes it even more disturbing and heartbreaking.
Order 66 is one of the darkest, horrifying and scariest moments ever in the history of Star Wars when we can see all the clones received the order 66 to kill all jedis
@@gabrielberrios1306 there are so many movies that go darker than anything in Star Wars. It has dark moments of course, but nothing in there is anything near the darkest in all of cinema.
I think there are a few Rebels scenes darker than Ezra's there, Maul blinding Kanan and Kanan's sacrifice, Ashoka vs Vader, and when Zeb sees those outlawed weapons and breaks down about how they were used to drive his entire species to near extinction seriously Steve Blum is so amazing as Zeb in that episode
You’re right. The scene when they make the engineer ride the speeder to failure and explode. The writers of both TCW & Rebels captured the horrors of occupation, imperialism, war and futile resistance.
It wasn't violent, but Ben Solo's death broke my heart and took away my hope. Snoke had warned that as long as Skywalker lived, _hope_ lived, and, well.
Watching Rex struggle and finally succumb was heartbreaking. Seeing Ahsoka deflect the blaster bolts not back at the troopers, but toward the ceiling to provide an escape route for herself was similarly moving.
I’m surprised that the 501st and 212th battle on Umbara didn’t at least make it in the mentions list. That got pretty dark when Rex realized that Krell lied about the enemies being disguised as clones and that they where actually killing their own brothers.
I was wrong by assuming nothing would outdark Batman The Animated Series. Look at scenes like: Anakin attempting on Clovis, the framing of Ahsoka, Darth Maul turns a hallway into a literal weapon, etc
Ahsoka being framed in Season 5 of Clone Wars is the absolute darkest part of Star Wars. I suppose it's not a single moment, but rather sad that it didn't make this list. My kids rewatch many Star Wars movies and animated shows over and over again, but they refuse to watch Ahsoka's fall again because it was so heart breaking.
More from Clone Wars and Rebels. Every Star Wars fan needs to experience these great stories with the highest production values I have seen in any animated series.
The ending of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was pretty dark too. The way Darth Vader straight up murders Trilla as she was starting to go back into the light, absolutely terrifying. “Avenge us” literally horror film worthy line, but I guess they weren’t using video games for this list
Twilight of the Apprentice, as Ashoka recognizes Vader to be Anakin and says that she will not leave him this time. And Vader replies only with "Then you will die". The ultimate corruption of their mentor/student / brother/sister relationship.
-Luke skywalker in ep8 -Han solo being a deadbeat loser dad Seriously though: -order 66 -anakin burns -anakin attacking jedi temple -han solo death -darth maul spider legs -rogue one deaths
Another Top 10 Darkest Star Wars Moments 10. 9. 8. Reva Tries to Torture Leia 7. 6. 5. Andor’s Time in Prison 4. Krell Tricking the Clones into Killing Each Other 3. Crosshair Orders His Men to Kill Civilians 2. Han Solo Gets Frozen in Carbonite 1. Luke Sees His Face in the Cave
@@WatchMojo I’m gonna be honest here, Mojo. Satine’s death would be a good selection for another darkest _Star Wars_ moments list, along with Pong Krell’s friendly fire order. I mean, Obi-Wan kept his feelings for the Duchess under control, but to see Maul send the Darksaber’s blade thru her heart, I’m surprised he was able to keep it together. No, Anakin would’ve straight-up dismembered the Dathomirian Zabrak. There’s nothing worse than an angry Anakin if you’re a fan of the Chosen One.
I feel like a lot of people enjoy watching star wars because it's original and it's realistic because there isn't always a happy ending or a love story. I mean yea there are a decent amount of love stories but still.
The Owen & Beru’s deaths is the saddest and horrible death moment in all the time in the movies of Star Wars when we can see Luke Skywalker watching the death of his adoptive parents
Dude!!! Why did you have to remind me of that horrendous scene. I about almost completely forgot my first moment of shock in the Star Wars Movie series! I remember how gut wrenching that was for me. The only reason Star Wars Revenge of the Sith wasn't the second traumatizing Star Wars scene for me is because I was too young at the time. My parents wouldn't allow me to be so thoureghly scarred by such a sad movie. Which I am grateful for. I already had trouble getting utterly scared by Ocarina of Time, The Dark Crystal, and The Secret of Nihm. Didn't need more then that to be honest. I was like 7 or 8 at the time.
A dark moment in Star Wars was in the Phantom Menace when Darth Maul murders Obi-Wan's master Qui-Gon Jinn. Every time I saw a wise teacher is killed that way and see a student cry out "NO!" Really tears me up.
Final episode of clone wars when the star destroyer crashed on the moon, where Ashoka and Rex had to dig shallow graves for the clones that died in the crash. It was a sad and dark moment.
The moment Rex turns on Ahsoka on the Bridge of the cruiser, seeing him tear up and fire at her, that was truly a heart breaking moment, seeing one of the most loved characters forced to turn against another loved character, seeing Rex fight the order long enough to warn Ahsoka.
"The Clone Wars may be animated, but can still be dark." Me: Does it really matter if a film or show is dark if it is animated or not? I mean, when you look at Disney's or Pixar's animated films, there are many dark moments in most of them.
Top 10 Darkest Star Wars Moments in My Opinion: 10. Everyone Dies in Rogue One 9. Crosshair Orders His Men to Kill Civilians 8. Own and Beru’s Deaths 7. Anakin Slaughters the Tuskin Raiders 6. Kylo Ren Kills His Own Father 5. Dr. Pursuing Gets His Memory Wiped 4. Han Solo Gets Frozen in Carbonite 3. Anakin’s Transformation into Darth Vader 2. The Destruction of Alderaan 1. Order 66 and Aftermath
10. 0:50 Everyone in Rogue One Dies 9. 1:59 Maul and Savage Destroy a Village 8. 3:11 Anakin Burns 7. 4:00 Kylo Ren’s Patricide 6. 4:57 Massacre of the Night Sisters 5. 5:54 Anakin Slaughters the Tuskin Raiders 4. 6:50 Owen and Beru’s Deaths 3. 7:37 Anakin Kills the Younglings 2: 8:34 Destruction of Alderaan 1. 11:23 Order 66
The most traumatic scenes from Star Wars for me was: 1st: Luke's adoptive parents death. 2nd: Qui Gon's death. 3rd: The death of the Tuskan Raiders by Anakin's hand. 4th: Just anything to do with Geonosia. That place is just aweful!! 5th: The Nightsister's massacre. 6th: Ahsoka being kidnapped, hunted, and losing a young padawan learner from said hunters. 7th: The whole Force Weirder arc. The whole thing was just weird and scary at the same time. 8th: The slavers mistreating the Togruta's and Obi Wan Kenobi. 9th: When Jarr Jar Binks and Jedi Master Mace Windu has to stop a dark side force sensitive cult from murdering the Planet's Queen and they find a creepy soul sucking chamber hidden away in a cave. 10th: Order 66 from the Movie and Ahsoka's perspective.
Ok I can respect number 1 but you never mentioned Star Wars the Clone Wars the umbara arc were General krill (I’m not sure if I spelled his name correctly) tricked the 501st clone troopers and 212th troopers to kill each other. That moment deserved it to be on this list.
Since A New Hope was the very first Star Wars film I saw as a kid, the deaths of Owen and Beru with the destruction of Alderan really drove home just how utterly ruthless the Empire is and they don't mess around.
Say what you want about the prequels but it really committed to creating emotion in scenes, even if it sacrificed plot or common sense or good dialogue for on the nose stuff. It’s where the actors get to shine and you can’t find the same level of emotionally charged scenes anywhere else in Star Wars I’d say
The Rex and Ahsoka scene broke my heart since they were two of my favorite characters. The pain in Rex's voice and tears in his eyes, heartbreaking, and right after they had just had a wholesome bonding moment.
I’m surprised Luke almost killing young Ben Solo wasn’t on here. The fact that Luke, one of the most wholesome and loving characters would actually think of doing that is so heartbreaking. And the look on Ben’s face when he wakes up is incredibly sad. Don’t even get me started on the aftermath when Ben pulls an Anakin and wipes out the entire Jedi temple. But THEN in a comic book we learn he didn’t mean to and he lost control of himself. His guilt was what really pushed him over the edge, and it’s all because of how traumatized Luke was from the war in the original trilogy.
I was gonna say Vaders spartan run. Glad it got an early mention. It's rough, in both implication and execution And can we really consider Kylo a sith being so controlled by emotions? Vader never threw no tantrums!
Order 66 is dark and I agree it should be #1, but for me, it’s #1 because of Clone Wars and how that show really told the story of the clones and their Jedi’s. The movies only really specify one or two clones, Cody being one, but the Clone Wars animated series really makes it hurt. Same thing for the fall of Anakin.
The saddest moment in my opinion has to be Order 66. All of those Jedi being killed by clone troopers is really messed up! At least Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Former Clone Commander Rex and Caleb Dume aka Kanan was be able to survive the horrible ordeal!
Two videos on Star Wars Day, WatchMojo? I will call that, EXCELLENT (Darth Sidious’ voice). Also, thank you for choosing Order 66 as number one, as it should be and I kind of knew it BEFORE I watched the video. Order 66 is the most tragic event in the Star Wars franchise, it was REALLY heartbreaking with Ahsoka Tano’s and Captain Rex’s perspective. Gosh, the season finale of season seven of The Clone Wars is gut wrenching.
General Hux was totally wasted in the last 2 sequels! That speech in Force Awakens and the fire reflecting in his eyes + his willingness to embarrass Kylo Ren infront of Snoke and then,,,,,,,,,just turned into bad guy buffoon all potential wasted!
Nobody ever seems to mention the time that Barris, in some unimaginable pain, begs Ahsoka to kill her, believing it's the only way to stop the parisite from spreading. I imagine that's pretty traumatic for a 14 year old. Oh and also there's on-screen deaths such as: Ahsoka decapitates 4 people, Savage decapitates the leaders of the black sun, Maul decapitates pre visla, and later bisects several clones with blunt pieces of metal, a slave commits suicide by falling to their death, as does a mandalorian, etc.
Anakin kills the younglings is the horrible, darkest and saddest moment ever in the universe of Star Wars when we can see Anakin Skywalker killing all the padawans and younglings
Here's a dark Star Wars moment from the bad batch: -Crosshair kills one of his comrades: episode 1 -Forcing enhancing crosshairs chip: episode 1 -Crosshairs betrayal: episode 1 - Wrekers chip slowly starts to activate (episode 3) or the beginning of the bad batch in episode 1
Probably phantom menace. Then if u want clone wars tv show. Then attack of the clones. Then revenge of the sith. A new hope. The. Another show Star Wars rebels. Then return of the Jedi. Don’t watch the Rey trilogy but you can if u want
A moment though that really should have been here was when 2 squads on Umbara, one from the 501st, and one from the 212th, were set up to fight one another by General Krell, by making them think the enemy had stolen clone armour and weapons, which resulted in the deaths of many clones, including Waxer, who was fatally injured in the engagement, and dies after telling Rex why they were out there. This was truly a moment most deserving to be on this list.
