And Marvel copied off Captain Marvel for Thor (originally Thor was trapped in the body of a crippled mortal man, and he changed by tapping his cane similar to how Billy shouts "Shazam!"). I'm not sure that Mar-Vell has a copy at DC, though I'm sure you could find some alien who betrayed their evil native race, not exactly a revolutionary concept.

Relying on powers like that eventually leads to boring stories. A good story has to include the distinct possibility that the hero will fail.

Even though namor came first, atlantis was introduced first in aquaman's stories and similarly there are many things they copied each other. There are plenty of references in green arrow and he is often called as modern day robinhood, clearly stating that he was inspired by him. Flash wears a helmet like hermes' helmet thats it. Lensman maybe intergalatic cops but first green lantern wasn't, and then they might have got the idea to do it. The thing is u should understand difference between inspiration and copying.
