Not letting Ron Clements and John Musker direct The Black Cauldron instead of having too many directors. The movie could have been better [and this comes from someone who loves the movie] and might have been as beloved as Disney Renaissance movies. Taran is an underrated and over hated main character. Hey MsMojo, if you ever do another Underrated Disney Characters list, please put Taran high up the list, maybe #2 or #1.

I got another one: Lightyear. Did Disney forget about Buzz Lightyear of Star Command? I find BLOSC to be more believable as the thing which inspired Andy to want a Buzz Lightyear action figure. These past several years have been rough in the movie side of things. I think Disney cares too much of its own brand. Add to that, spreading its own franchises, thinning them. Ironically, this led Disney's brand became synonymous with being "generic" or even "cheap". They won big this year, however, with 'Inside Out 2' and apparently 'Deadpool & Wolverine'. But until proven otherwise, they are exceptions.

Here's a minor thing you missed: Mickey's Kitchen. Disney's attempt at a fast food restaurant! There were only two of them methinks, one in California and one in Schaumburg, Illinois, where I worked next door at the Disney Store. It was a cute concept but sadly Disney couldn't serve a hot meal to save their lives - everything was rather lukewarm. Also they tried to be healthy years before people wanted healthy. And some of their meals were just too bizarre. They had a PBJ Rollup - peanut butter and jelly on a pancake rolled up - that was just too weird. (Actually I found it very tasty!) After about three months Disney decided to shut down Mickey's Kitchen and forget about the whole thing.

5. Those DTV sequels were a total gamble when it came to quality. Sometimes we got something good, sometimes we got something mediocre, and sometimes we got something bad. And sadly, mediocre and bad tended to be more common than good. Because for every solid one like Aladdin: King of Thieves, An Extremely Goofy Movie, and both Lion King Sequels, there were several stinkers like Mulan 2, Belle's Magical World, and Hunchback of Notre Dame 2. SONG OF THE SOUTH wasn't so bad for Hollywood in 1946 (and for some considerable time after), though James Baskett should have been in the running for a regular Oscar rather than the 'special' one he received. How about POCAHONTAS? - though it's still customary to get history wrong and prettifed; re. storytelling, you should mention THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and it messed up the disability theme, reversing the 'earthenware and crystal' message of the novel, for bland romanticism and a happy ending.

I personally believe that "Song of the south" is a totally misunderstood film. I watched the movie dozens of times, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. Instead of talking about its accomplishments such as the music, animation and the very first Oscar to a black actor (Walt fought hard so that James Baskett could be given the award), people criticise it for all the wrong reasons. The real sad part was that this movie was made with nothing but good intentions. Were people expecting a "12 years a slave"? Impossible! This is a Disney family movie. It's been branded as a controversial movie for absolutelynoreason. This isn't "the Birth of a Nation (1915)". This is a clear case of when people hear something enough times, they eventually believe it. I think we have to re-evaluate "Song of the South" ☹️

I completely agree with you. It’s actually a beautiful film of a young boy finding a father figure in a wise old black man. Hattie McDaniel was asked if she felt the film was racist and she said no. She never would’ve agreed to do the role if it was. And let’s not forget she was the first black woman to win an Oscar. Her hard work on the film, as well as Baskett’s, have now been erased by people who are easily offended. And have likely never even seen the movie.

@@LadyKC67 Hattie McDaniel indeed won the Oscar, yet she wasn’t even allowed to be inside 😂the venue where the Oscar Awards were being held that year, because of the strict ‘whites only’-policy of the hotel! And WHEN they finally made an exception for her (ONLY because the producer of ‘Gone With The Wind’, David Selznick called in a favor the hotel management owed him!!)…. …she was NOT allowed to sit at the table where everyone else from ‘Gone With The Wind’ was sitting…!! Instead she was forced to sit all the way in the back, at a little table against the wall… …far away from the rest of the audience, accompanied by only her escort and her agent, SEGREGATED from the people she had worked with while filming the movie… And when it was announced that she had indeed WON THE OSCAR and she made her way to the stage to accept her award and give her speech, many disapproving voices were heard throughout all of the audience….!!! So YES, she did win the Oscar and YES, she was the first black woman to do so…. ….but there were MANY things VERY, VERY WRONG with this moment!! Part from an online article about this moment in time: “The 12th Academy Awards were held at the famed Cocoanut Grove nightclub in The Ambassador Hotel. McDaniel arrived in a rhinestone-studded turquoise gown with white gardenias in her hair. McDaniel then was escorted, not to the Gone With the Wind table - where Selznick sat with de Havilland and his two Oscar-nominated leads, Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable - but to a small table set against a far wall, where she took a seat with her escort, F.P. Yober, and her white agent, William Meiklejohn. With the hotel’s strict no-blacks policy, Selznick had to call in a special favor just to have McDaniel allowed into the building (it was officially integrated by 1959, when the Unruh Civil Rights Act outlawed racial discrimination in California).” Source: Hollywoodreporter website, also to be found in many, many other openly available online publications!

The plot mandated friendship failure scene with Aladdin highlighting Disney's betrayal of Robin was on point. Well done. The downright disrespectful lack of effort put into the PatF ride is almost *more* offensive than SotS. It's all lip service and table scraps tossed at Tiana. Disney did no better than those two banker brothers in the film. A Civil War ride? How on earth would one Disneyfy that? "Come on, kids, let's go on this delightfully wholesome ride about brothers pitted against one another on a battlefield flowing with ankle-deep blood, all so that either one side can enslave a minority group to the point of practically being genocide, or the other side can dump said minority out on their butts like a foster kid who just turned 18! Yeah, the galactic Starcruiser was a bad idea, I wonder if Amandla Stenberg used the music from that to help the Distrack because if she did then maybe it will add to Disney’s controversy as well.

The Galactic Starcruiser could have been a success...if it wasn't so expensive! That's what was holding everyone back, everything else was great! It also shouldn't have been called a "hotel" which, to Disney's credit, they did not, but the media DID in their laziness. Disney should have doubled down on that and advertise it as a role-playing experience and nothing else.

In my honest opinion, I feel like even without Disney breaking their promise to Robin Williams, he wouldn’t have returned for The Return of Jafar or the series considering his scheduling would’ve made him too busy to reprise the role.

As a Jewish man we know about discrimination. The Uncle Remus stories were secret coded stories. I cannot give credit to this piece on the internet. “Many of the stories he relates through Remus are clearly subversive of American apartheid's hierarchies. They spring from a tradition with roots in Africa, and also in Northern and Eastern Europe - the animal tale, with moral lessons about escape from submission and the value of cunning.” Amos and Andy was a very controversial tv show. Many people color were critical. Others, many of the best Black actors, singers, educators, leaders were of the opposite of first group’s concerns. Amon and Andy was the first sitcom featuring an all Black cast. I think it comes down to 😊perspective. It is a discredit people who have tried to discredit other intentions. After, not all Jews are rich, have big noses, enunciate with unusual accents, control Hollywood, hate Arabs, and these stereotypes everyone knows. After Splash Mountain was forced to close I blamed feaux politically correct folks who have read Uncle Remus Tales and never seen Amos and Andy. Please!

Dishonorable Mention: *Chicken Little (2005) -Coming off the already disappointing Home on the Range, Chicken Little earned the ire of the general public as not only Disney's most mean-spirited film, but also among the worst films in Disney's filmography. Heck, the original Disney short this film was based on did a better job than this. And Disney's follow-up films; Valiant, and The Wild, HA! Face it, you likely forgot these films even existed until I brought them up. They also didn't draw in the numbers they were hoping for. With The Wild being called a bad Madagascar clone. Disney wouldn't be able to get their mojo back until the releases of Meet The Robinsons and Bolt, and later The Princess and The Frog and Tangled. *Cancelling The Owl House -Of all the cancellations, this one hits me the most personally mainly because I backed the petition to save the show myself. I don't think I'm being controversial when I say that The Owl House is a fantastic show, and a much needed hit for Disney, AND YET, SOMEONE at the higher ups just refuses to he happy about it (I bet it's South Park's Mickey Mouse). Because ever since Season 2 started airing, the news going around about how Disney was treating the series was downright shameful. Not only would the series end with it's 3rd season, but ALSO the 3rd season would only consist of 3 44 min specials (against the creator's wishes mind you). There was also word going around that the show "Didn't fit the Disney brand." Oh sure, because stuff like The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Gravity Falls and Amphibia were fine but THIS is pushing it. The fan backlash was massive, even spawning the aforementioned petition to save the show, but Disney remained resolute in their decision. Now thankfully, The Owl House still ended fantastically in the end (thank goodness), but again, this only makes the company look really suspicious. And in a DELICIOUS twist of irony, Disney actually DID admit that they were wrong to cancel the show and that it was in fact sucessful. But given that Dana Terrace left Disney after the show was complete, it looks like any chance for a sequel series, spin-off, or a Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood-esque extended story are unlikely. Despite the sucess of the show, it still really hurts when you think about what could've been. Mistreating your employees is bad enough, but when you mistreat your employees, your fans, your consumers, your properties, AND your legacy in such a short span on time, it takes a lot to regain the trust of the public after all that. Let's just hope their recent shows don't go to their heads, or we could end up with something like this again.

My pick for when Disney dropped the ball is the 2019 Kim Possible DCOM. In 2018 Disney announced that they gonna make a live action Kim Possible movie for Disney Channel I was really excited and while I do enjoy it, the movie was received poorly. The trailer was dislike bombed (in the same day that Avengers Endgame teaser was released) the movie itself was overhated, on IMDb there's review bombing (I'm talking about The Acolyte level of review bombing) and with the rating of 1.24 it killed Disney Channel and any potential that Kim Possible would receive a continuation while MCU were at their strength with Endgame and Star Wars got their first live action series known as The Mandalorian. This movie should've been great if not for the existence of MCU and Star Wars. It's like Disney have forgot their history and what they came from because after all this is Walt Disney, not Walt Marvel or Walt Star Wars. In the end, I think Disney got what they deserve since the end of 2019. Rise of Skywalker turn out to be worse than The Last Jedi, the whole Superhero fatigue and not to mentioned the disasterous 100th anniversary. What I can say is all of this could be prevented if they at least put an effort into this 2019 DCOM and not overrelying on MCU or Star Wars...

How about repeatedly attacking fans and/or making false accusations about them? Or how about getting political? Or how about firing people based on their beliefs or opinions? Or how about making agenda pushing and virtue signaling the focal point of their films? Or how about blacklisting actors?Or how about manipulating ratings, censoring fans, hiding negative reviews, using bots to create fake positive reviews, paying shills to promote movies, or lying about how good movies and even the industry as a whole is doing?

I think Disney creating anti semitic content such as their version of the three little pigs, and making most of their villains jewish stereotype caricacures such as mother gothel, the evil queen, Ursula, and and Maleficent. As well, having ponoccios nose grow every time he lies is obviously hinting at something
