You have no idea how much you helped me. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what exterior colors to use. A huge thanks. I'm going with the last one.
Almost everyone of your combinations had gray in them. A lot of people like myself cannot use grays because of roof color. Can you address tans, terracotta, browns and other similar colors?
Agreed. Whenever I see suggested colors for the exterior if tends to be whites, blacks, blues, sometimes off whites. Other colors like warm colors are used for accents like the door. I personally don't like to use black as it will fade and look dull sooner than other colors. I have a neighbor with a black house and it did not take long before it became dull and chalky looking. Can we look at brown tones or red colors for the main color of the house? I have a neighbor who painted their house a red similar to the WSU Cougar red and it looks great with their variegated red brick accent wall that covers the front lower part of their home. And the trim is a soft white to go with the soft red tone. It looks nice. 😊
Would like a longer look at the finished painted houses than a split second. Putting ideas together and trying to pause this video to see the house darkens the picture. Anyways you are teaching me color schemes soon for that I thank you!
I’ve never been a “red person” but I love that red colour in your last example as a door colour! I’m deciding on what grey to paint my house and was leaning towards a sea glass green colour for my front door (white trim) but man, I may be swayed over to the red side (it’s like the dark side 😂). I never thought I’d consider red paint, appreciate you opening my mind to it! 🎨
Exactly. The best combos take the roof colour into account, which is why the charcoal, white and grey looked amazing on That house. Other permanent fixtures also have an effect eg an old green concrete path, stained glass windows, bricks.
Will you give us one other idea for an accent color besides jet black, 2120-10 to go with cloud cover trim and the beautiful coventry grey? Will any dark grey blues work, or anything with a touch of modern "pop"?
Omg, the third @ 3:04... but not my colours. Looking for something more in the brown and beige with perhaps forest green or charcoal cause you can never go wrong with warm colours.
We had a house about 20 years ago that we painted a darker but not charcoal grey with a dark teal trim, and an almost red with blue undertones for the door. It was between a fuchsia and maroon. Everyone loved it when they saw it, but just describing it would look at me like I had lost it! I had a client that worked in a paint department, and for months would call me about mistints and returns. Our roof was grey.
Hi James, I’d like your advice. My Benjamin Moore colors I like for painting my exterior are HC172, AF720, and HC 168/ or 2133-10. I’m not sure if I should use Revere Pewter as the main color or Sparrow. For accent either Chelsea gray or Onyx 2133-10. If I use Onyx, I would also use that on my fence. What do you think or recommend? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
James, I have a problem my French doors are painted brown. I have a brick home I would love to send a picture to you I wanted to do the doors in black or dark blue black is there any way of sending a picture to show you what I’m talking about. I need your help Maggie.
Wow bro , you make me feel excited about house colours . Very knowledgeable too , you have yourself a subscriber. This just popped into my mind . I am a builder in South Africa , I am about to do a renovation which I intend to use as a platform to launch my company. The Reno design was my “lockdown project “ I did it in collaboration with a young French architect that I met while I was in university in port Elizabeth, S.A . So this house has influence from Africa, Europe and I would like it to have influence from the America’s too . I would be delighted to have your advice on the colour scheme that we could use etc . Please let me know ✌️
Hey, nice to meet you Troy! That sounds so cool! In terms of the colour scheme, what is the vibe you're going for? How do the various inspirations influence your project?
I'm trying to find a good grey color with no blue undertones. maybe a green undertone. but it has to match the pink and grey stone work. I love behr marquee and sherwin williams.
This was a really great video to visualize. I am colour stupid. I don’t get warm/cool but put cooler with warmer colors aaaaaahhhhggg. I’ve watched the videos on it perhaps one day it will stick
Love the yellow beige and I would go with a bright white as a trim. And is their an alternative for the door color with this combo, that can be used which is darker and maybe not green? I have a ranch style home
We have a ranch with rough cedar siding and a mid tone brown roof. Looking for a updated look...is there a green you would recommend? It was also suggested that I go a deep dark brown/black...not sure about the body of the house being darker than the roof? Open for suggestions 💕. Thank you
I need help !! We have a light grey siding ( saving to update someday to a dark dark grey ) Also in the works if getting copper gutter and roof Painted porch a black grey and stained the wood a orangey yellow Tried to color match the foundation to the stain and have gotten sooooo many hateful comments about how ugly it is, but they loved the porch What color should I use ?? I’m trying to plan for the end result, even if the process is slow Any advice would be appreciated thank you Ps I don’t know what color to paint door It is black as well as garage doors Should it stay
Color combo for "grandmillennial" idea: Mauve (main) + a cool white (trim) + wood/brown accents. Personally I love Mauves, lavenders, and pale purples and blues.
I’m looking for light grey or light blue exterior color but with nice darker trim also white not pure white but good white similar color substitute do you have any ideas
This video allowed us to agree on a basic colour theme and for that I’m grateful. Light grey, white and charcoal. We are also painting our corrugated galvanised iron roof. Would have been good to see roof colour options included
i got an orange brick ranch house and i just installed white vinyl window. my front door is brown. i would like to paint the trim and the garage door which is right now a orange/brown color. what color trim should i use that will work well with orange brick and white vinyl windows? also, what type of paint should i use? Semi gloss? oil base?
Hi, please help me. I have a modern house facing north. The entry is also north. Which is the most luxorious white ? For trims I used middle antracit grey. I'm searching for the most luxorious white color now. Thanks. My goal is to feel some kind of a luxory yacht vibe in the end. Door handle is chrome.
Can you help me … I want to pain our deck blue and white ( white for the seating and rails and blue for the floor area) is there any you can recommend that won’t strip?
Interesting color combinations! Do you take roof color into consideration? Our ranch home has a reddish composite roof. How do I choose a color combination with that?
I had a brick home. Classic would be a crisp white for the trim and a Kelly green for the door. I ended up doing cream trim and a sunny yellow door and it was really pretty. You’ve got a lot of combos you could do.
I had to look them up, but I love those colors together! I'm not a pro, lol, but live with a lot of color. I suggest the Sherwin Williams Urbane Bronze for high contrast or something greige with green undertones for lower contrast.
@susan lyons that is what I’m struggling with! Our houses are laid out different; base, and trim colors because of their style. Haven’t found a good resource for color options on these type of houses. When I drive around and look all these style houses are tans, yellows, peach. I want something other than that
For those of us who like to screen shot ideas it would be really helpful to have the name of the colors printed on the photo of the color spot and even in this video set-up - on the accompanying photo using the colors. Also, what does "OC" mean?
How about colors that look good in bright sun like Florida? Not just whites and gray's, please. There is tons of new construction here and our houses need repainting every 5-10 years
Gray gray. I'm sick of gray and white. Or gray greens and blues. What comes after gray? I live in the desert. Everybody's house is yellow with green trim or else just plain white or tan. I'm looking for something different. Someday everybody will be just as sick of gray as I am.
Hi James⚱ It s 4 am and I love these three part🔹️ series mummy dzddy and baby ( clair moyen foncé ) the houses look dollyish the colours are as yummy as the names are pezchy and textury ♥️ goldie marble cromwell chelsea caliente nimbus you can float in the woodlźnds or in LE PETIT TRIANON🧸🧩 and now I will lose my head for my GREAT folly 🎯 Thank you James🌞🪐🌟🌌🌊🔸️🌠▪️
I like your channel, but constantly gesticulating and turning your body makes me dizzy. If you reduced it to 50%, it would be plenty. Also, if you kept the finished houses up for longer, it would be nice. But I feel like I'm talking to someone that is jogging lol -- an old person from back in the day
