Got me 1 but I have not finished reading it yet. Her first Home was extraordinary, so well worth it. Am most certain this second one is even more amazing
Apparently of ANY Hollywood actor, she is given the most applause and love at any special screenings of her most popular films, even more than actors like Streep or Hanks. She truly is the greatest.
It's called a pixie cut, and it's pretty much her trademark. Part of her persona...a very modern style and easy to do, as apparently she did her own hair the night she won the Oscar! "I had long hair for a long while in my youth," she said. But she had to wear a wig while making the 1964 film "Mary Poppins" and all that long hair under a wig was hot. Once she got it bobbed off, she said, she realized it looked quite attractive. "It really was the easiest and absolutely the most suitable cut for me," she said. And it has stayed short ever since.
When I was a freshman in high school, our school was across the street from a theatre where Julie was directing the musical "The Boyfriend" (the very first broadway musical she was in!) and my entire class, teacher included, played hookie and went across the street to see the press conference she was having because they were re-naming the street "Andrews Ave." for the time she was here in Minnesota for the show. We got there early enough that my class was right up front and when she came out I waved to her and she smiled at me and waved back. I swear, if I wasn't standing next to my crush that day, I would have cried!!!!!! This woman is my whole life.
Julie Andrews is practically perfect in every way.💗 It was wonderful to hear her sing a duet in "Princess Diaries 2", after her throat surgery, when she thought that she may never sing again. 🎵🎹😩
I shed tears of surprise and joy when I first watched Princess Diaries 2; my nieces were concerned for me, until, after the scene, we paused the DVD, and I explained. They were amazed that she was also Mary Poppins (which we had watched a couple of months before), and sad about the botched surgery. And there's the scene (9:55), and here come the tears!
Partially. Every girl should aspire to be the best SHE can be using those perceived positive qualities JA shows in public. If you read her bio, "Home", you might change your original statement.
Favorite Julie moment: in the very rare film called Duet for One, Julie strips down to her heart and soul; no major musical numbers-just mastery of her craft and the camera lens.
1. She is amazing 2. She is so pretty 3. Mary poppins is my fav movie 4. See 2 5. LISTEN TO THAT VOICE 6. See 1 7. She is so beautiful 8. Yes I’m a girl 9. THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MUSIC 10. See 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
I am absolutely in love with Julie Andrews since I was a child. My father presented me "the sound of music" when I was very little and I learned how to sing all the songs in english, although my mother language is Portuguese. I love her by not only her talent, but also because she is an amazing human being. Practically perfect in every single way.
She's also a published writer. Someone gave me her book "Mandy" when I was 9 or 10 and I loved it! It's about a girl at an orphanage who finds a derelict cottage on property behind the orphanage and starts taking care of it as if she's making a home for herself. She wrote it under the name Julie Edwards. I believe she's also co-written books with her daughter Emma.
@@scarlettstott7570 Nothing like Julie Andrews movies, Disney movies, Thomas The Tank Engine, and any animation films I've always like as a kid never leave me. I grew up with all of them and they live on forever in my heart.
I respect Ms. Andrews' decision, and I think if she'd handed Emily Blunt that balloon towards the end of the movie, it wouldn't taken anything away from Emily's performance. It would've been a sweet scene. Just my opinion.
@@strivingformindfulness2356 In some way it would have made more sense in tying the two together, but I can also understand why she declined. Angela still did a great job. Hearing Mrs Potts sing again was also a nice touch.
Julie Andrews is so amazing there isn’t gonna be anybody like her to do the roles of Maria Von trap in Mary Poppins if anything happens to her will be sad if she dies she’s like the most amazing actress that could ever lived I love her movies like Mary Poppins and the sound of music I remember watching these films and I was little she is really amazing my favorite moment was when she was singing as a soprano before her throat got damaged and then she became an alto which is sad she’s really amazing she will always be Mary Poppins to me
Scarlett Stott Think about it she’s in her 80s she’s getting old you know she’s pretty much getting up there in that might happen either way she is still a good actress and we love her movies
@@brodiger it will definitely be sad and yes she will leave behind a great legacy. I thought you were saying "if she dies", in a literal sense, because death is inevitable
Scarlett Stott Yeah her legacy of doing these kind of films will live on I was saying is that if she dies then we will all be sad because think about it she’s getting up there in her 80s and maybe she’ll push 90 eventually so she still either way is a great actress and you know she still good singer from her old days
she really is practically perfect in every possible way. phenomenal voice, super talented actress, extremely beautiful, amazing and sweet personality and so many other amazing features.. i love her so much, she is a goddess!
Of course, the great. multi talented and forever beautiful Julie Andrews is an inspiration, an icon, a treasure. She really is supercalifragilisticexpialidocious! I have lots of favorite things about Julie: I will mention the Le Jazz Hot ending . Practically perfect indeed!
Another fascinating fact: she is the only performer in Academy Awards history to have been nominated THREE times for work in film musicals. Still another fascinating fact: she is the only person in Golden Globes history to win during FOUR consecutive years (for 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1967); her 5th Golden Globe award came for 1982.
She is, and always has been, practically perfect in every way. Interesting little tidbit, on the 25th Anniversary of when The Sound of Music was released (1990, yeah, I know, I’m old), there was a special and during it she related a story in which she said that when they were filming the Do-Re-Mi scene, in which she’s fingerpicking the guitar, she was struggling “getting her fingers to move correctly”. Luckily, for her sake, and many of the other adults in the cast and crew, there was a local farmer who made his own schnapps. She engaged in a little bit of tippling and “Bam” her fingers worked. Inwardly I kinda chuckle every time, since I heard the story, thinking she’s just the tiniest bit….enhanced….in that scene…. There ya go Ms. Mojo!!! Xoxo. ❤️🎶🎼
Apparently she was so stoned in her hey day she turned down a major part in the first film 'The wolf of wall street', see people this perfect in every way person is only human and fabulous, still love her😚
That is a very misleading statement. She had just had major surgery on her ankle, to fit a titanium implant, and was on a cocktail of painkillers etc afterwards. She knew she would not be able to cope with the role at that time so had to decline it. She is 100% professional and always wants to deliver a good performance. Joanna Lumley played the part of the English aunt instead.
The greatest actress/singer/dancer ! Julie Andrews is gorgeous, classy and magnificent. She has landmarks on tv, stage and in the screen. Julie is a treasure.
I watched the behind the scenes feature for Princess Diaries 2 and Garry Marshall asked her to sing and she had to tell him she couldn’t sing the way she used to so they made it a speak/singing song. Marshall said after filming the song, every one on set, including big men with tattoos had tears in their eyes. It is so wrong that she can no longer belt out songs like she once did.
Man, one single weekend of watching two of one of my favorite Disney movies and coincidences keep on happening with them by golly! I watched Bambi and the next day I see a show that mentions someone seeing Bambi in their childhood and then the next day I watched Mary Poppins only for one of my kids from the preschool that I work at to come in and say that he watched Mary Poppins over the weekend and now this video about Julie Andrews gets freaking uploaded! What's the freaking deal with that freaking seriously?! Lol
I love Mary Poppins 🙃. One of the best films! And maybe the first film I ever saw (that or Star Wars). I was about 4. The only part I remember from that first viewing was trying to watch Let's Go Fly a Kite while holding onto my mom's hand while we were leaving the theater. I kept turning around and saying "But it's not over yet!" Since becoming a grown-up, I always stay through the credits 😁
she was basically the bread winner at about the age of 12. but she said she was happy to do it because the family needed it. maybe it's just her, or maybe it's a generational thing but she stepped up to the plate because someone had to.
My favorite Julie Andrew moment is during Mary Poppin's Step In Time song, where she jumps and spins in the air for quite a long time, lands and gives a "hmmmph" nod.
I read both Home and Homework (listened to them on Audible 3x). There is nothing like hearing Julie Andrews tell a story and tell her own. I could write a lot about her books but I'll simply say they changed my life and I am grateful to her and her daughter Emma for writing them. She is truly amazing.
I love her so much!!! There was a fun fact I remember her talking about The Sound of Music and said that she was a bit drunk when she had to play the guitar on the mountain top at the start of the song Do Rae Me.... it was of course to calm the nerves. 😀
I've got a video of my toddler watching the opening scene of the Sound of Music for the first time. When the music built and Julie started singing, her little two-year-old jaw actually dropped. It's the cutest thing.
Oh, God ... a favorite Julie Andrews moment ... how to choose out of so many. Okay, the movie was Victor/Victoria, and the moment was the last long note of The Shady Dame from Seville.
Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins Super Cool Person She's Super Cool As Mary Poppins As Well As Clarisse Renaldi Princess Diaries Movies Can't wait to see her in Princess Diaries 3 the return of Clarisse Renaldi of the Grandma Of Mia Queen of Genovia I am anxious to see the movie continued as Clarisse Renaldi The Grandma of Mia Queen of Genovia
I love Julie Andrews movies! But before I knew her as an actress I actually loved her as a writer. She wrote a book called Mandy under her married name Julie Edwards .
My most favorite Julie Andrews Movies are Mary Poppins Sound of music And Princess Diaries 1 2 lets see how Mia's life in Genovia is Is Lord Nicolas Devero HER Prince Charming She loves him or Does Prince Andrew return for one more chance at her heart If Nicolas Proposed to her I guess she would marry him And We want to see Clarisse Renaldi and Joseph what's their lives now in Genovia like now
Extremely talented and still beautiful. If you see her in all her movies and photos in her 20's and 30's; Stevie Wonder could tell she had at least 2 nose jobs. I personally thought she was very pretty before any of them, especially that 1st job where they pinched it to make it more narrow, but forgot to lower the bridge and slim the tip. The second job improved on it. I think she's happy with the one she has now.
I first saw her in Mary Poppins and immediately loved her and it became one of my most favorite movies of all time! I've literally watched it multiple times a month.
I really love julie Andrews a lot she is awesome actress i love her in Princess Diaries series it was soooooo good i can't wait for three one to come out at some point
It still pisses me off that Julie was denied the role of Eliza in My Fair Lady the film. Had she done it she would've been in the perfect trilogy of classic musicals.
forgot she did rodgers and hammersteins cinderella even though now had throat surgery for nodes her singing defines her in any way possible she's just great
