J Itaru I remember when she left Victor/Victoria to get the surgery. I mea, it is always a risk. But it usually pays off. She must have been devastated. Even with her technique, V/V is a vocally demanding part (esp as old as she was at the time).

Julie is just amazing. She had the most beautiful voice (still does for her speaking voice) & just comes across as a class act. It’s even wonderful how her stepchildren speak of her; they call her their mother even though she didn’t bear them, but she raised them for the majority of their lives

Marnie Nixon played Sister Sophia in The Sound of Music and was so nervous to meet Julie Andrews, since she had dubbed for a role that should have gone to Julie in the first place.
