I love how the Jack in a Box munchies commercial is about stoners! "You know what sounds good right now?" "A massage from your sister?" "What!?!" "What..."
I'm with you, Chuck E. Cheese is not a fast food place. Saying it is, is like saying Dave & Buster's is a fast food restaurant. Basically the same place, just one has liquor and better food. ;)
Fun fact: Colonel Sanders was a real person and was the real owner of the first KFC, and when an opposing restaurant opened across the street from his, the other restaurant's owner and the Colonel had a shootout, which Sanders obviously won.
Jack Box was a milestone mascot on me. I had first seen him many years ago. I think he was the first fast food mascot I ever found on marketing campaigns.
Fun Fact: Colonel Sanders actually hated what the KFC franchise had become around the time of his death. He said it was the "worst chicken I have ever tasted" (or something along the lines of that)
My mother was actually friends with the inspiration for the Wendy mascot: Wendy Thomas. They were only friends in elementary school and obviously dropped all contact with each other later on.
When one of my daughters was about 3 or 4 years old, we passed by a KFC with the more recent incarnation of the Col. Sanders mascot. To her, the Colonel's goatee looked like mashed potatoes drooling out of his mouth (like a baby oozing a bite of food out of his/her mouth). As we passed by, she said "The grandpa's spitting out mashed potatoes."
Chuck's straddles the fine line between a fast-food restaurant and a sit-in casual restaurant. But since its' main niche are kids (and the parents / relatives who bring them in) it's bundled into the fast food reign... The "fast-casual" label, which is more appropriate, it's only been adopted very recently, like in the last 3 years or so...
King Slimeball Studios it really isn't, it's just like dave and busters , it is in the list because chuckee cheese is the most famous fast food rodent ( old version of chuckee cheese was more entertaining right) # bring the old chuckee cheese back !
Here in the Philippines, we also have a fastfood Mascot and his name is Jolibee. Jolibee is a popular FastFood restaurant chain in the Philippines from Hamburgers to Fried Chicken. As for the mascot Jolibee is a very happy bee that brings joy to the kids and the young at heart. There are several Jolibee chains in the US. I hope Canada will have one someday.
5 year olds, well the 5 years old I know are freaked out big mouse Chuck E. Cheese so the company might have shrink Chuck E. because he seems less frightening small; then kids still like guitars.
i can't be the only one who's never heard of the subway monkey. also, i never really considered chuck e. cheese's a fast food restaurant at least not in the same vein as mcdonald's
W4shington G4M3R I went last week with my cousins. I actually hit the jackpot on the skee-ball, however, it's kinda awkward when there are a bunch of five yr olds there, and a bunch of parents staring at you.
yeah when i was a kid chuck E cheese was the top pick for me but as i grew older for some reason the food and some of the games had gone downhill. it's not as popular anymore.... :(
W4shington G4M3R I went to chuckee cheese and had my birthday parties there and the only thing that happened to me was when I sniffed the pepper in the pizza when I broke the crust, weird huh dude
I agree with Ronald McDonald being #1. Those McDonald's commercials (mainly the ones from the 80's to the late 90's) were always very fun and entertaining to watch. As a kid, I remember wanting to live in McDonaldland with Ronald, Birdie, Grimace, Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, and the other characters. On another note, you forgot to mention that the Burger King also went by the alias, Billy Burger King. Still a great list, though! :)
niansillabffs Wendy is both spokesperson and mascot. Cause the face of Wendy's was based off of a real person. But Popeye's and Sonic don't have mascots to use as the face of their company, only people that they feature in their commercials. And no, Jared does not count
They didnt replace Ronald, they are just another mascot specifically for happy meals. They were trying to ride the wave of success of Pharrell's song, Happy, so they decided to make a mascot called Happy.
I note they didn't add in Pizza Head from Pizza Hut who did have an admittedly short career. I never knew of any of the honorable mentions or the Arby's Glove. The Noid, while I knew of him, always steered me away from Dominoes because I liked the Noid and hated those that kept hurting him.
I have, back in the day it was Noid the Rabbit. He was big and red just like my Johnson before I met my wife. I've never seen round table pizza's mascot though.
I've only ever seen 3 of those Mascots and heard of like 6 Chains here LOL, in the UK it's just Mcdonalds, KFC, Burger King, Pizza Hut and Dominos pretty much.
In live in a small town in Ohio, We have McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, Subway, Taco Bell, and we used to have a White Castle and Popeye's. We have to drive 15 minutes for KFC.
Subway has more stores now cause of the stupid health crazy, but Mc Donalds is way more know around the world. So depends if you're talking store locations or popularity.
He would be over a 120 years old if here was still alive today. The fact a dude who sold fried chicken lived to be 90 is pretty impressive in it's self.
I freaked out when the Taco Bell chihuahua came up! I don't like tacos but I LOVE Carlos Alazriqui! He is one of my favorite voice actors! My favorite roles are Rocko (Rocko's Modern Life), Lazlo (Camp Lazlo), and Crocker (Fairly Odd Parents)!

That was mind boggelingly US centric. Appart from Col Sanders, The dreadful clown and the creapy king as a Brit I'm greatfull we've been spared the others. I had no idea Subway had a mascot. Maybe the golden era of fast food mascots has gone. In the UK McDonalds has been re branded and moddled on the cafeish/coffee house pattern. With far less use of the clown.
+Jacqueline Chrisman hey can you tell me where you live so I can go to that Chick fil A oh and if you're if I live close to you can you give me a free chicken sandwich
Some of those mascots I remember The Noid was among my most favorite I kind of remember when Jack in The Box was a big smiley head on a spring coming out of box type structure. Would be nice to see some of those old commercials on the tube.
Me and my girlfriend go there. After we were even more hungry than when we came so we go to Jollibee right away. After that we are both satisfied. Never Wendy's again.
