Imagine that in France he said into an interview that he wanted to beat Pikes Peak records when the up-hill was unpaved just dirt & gravel and i bet my hamster cage he died about 5 years ago RIP-Riko and i have no use for that cage.. S. Loeb could do it without too much worries on dirt & gravel as well no doubt in my mind specially considering his racing background.. (9 times WRC Champ, Rally cross champ X-Games/GRC /RX, BTCC -Citroen Elyse, Dakar, LeMans).. he is very impressive !

Arie has the best run with the greatest film to complement it ever. These cars aren't the same as a group b with dirt roads no matter how good Sebastian is and I agree hes one of the very best ever to drive a car

Agreed for sure. It’s cool to watch these crazy times but it’s an entirely different event compared to the 3/4 dirt road. Climb Dance will forever be etched into my head - Ari with one hand on the wheel and the other blocking the sun, sideways with his foot still pinned to the firewall. Completely epic.

Aero..dust from the road..it's called Rooster Tail. idk maybe google "Rooster Tail Cars" It's from the Venturi Effect when you have a flat bottom under the car chassis..and a Diffuser at the back set at an Optimal Angle..around 7 degrees. Basically it sucks your car onto the ground, creating downforce without drag.. Just try and use a vacuum cleaner without attachment and suck the floor, then put a Piece of Paper or Cardboard with coins underneath, imagine that as the car, put on the floor. Then slowly tilt the vacuum nozzle up, you'll notice that the cardboard will try to grab the floor first instead of being sucked by the vacuum. Or do it the other way around and use compress air, same thing, aim at the floor..it'll suck instead of blowing it off the ground when aimed at optimal angle.

True. But you are talking about energy density, the true potential of electric drivetrains is power density. You can't reach the power density of an electric drivetrain anymore with combustion engines.

They still smoke electric engines in power to weight, even if you just include the engine and the drive train and ignore the fuel/battery weight. However, a high reving engine with enough turbo bost can stay somewhat competitive with an electric motor. For example the BMW I-4 1.49 L M12 1986 turbo engine that powered the Arrows A9 F1 car had a power to weight ratio of 8.25 kW/kg while high end electric engines seem to be around 10 kW/kg.

Yea but too bad Combustion Engine will lose in the future due to Elevation changes. Loeb's Peugeot is prolly running at 500 hp near the Peak. Hopefully with Formula E being a thing, we'll see even higher revving Motors.

I mean you are not wrong but 20% improvement in times signifies even increasing stress on the driver's body sth that as far as I am i aware we cannot do something to reduce. Yes the cars in theory are easier to drive, but also the driving is harder of the driver if that makes sense. I fairly certain we are reaching the limit of what humans can do on that road. I don't know if we reaching any limit in terms how physically fast an object with wheels can do it though

@@hellNo116 That's true. But I think that there's still potential within the limits of a human. I mean, just take a look at fighter jet pilots. The acceleration we achieve with wheels is still far away from the g-forces in a fighter jet. So I think that there's still plenty of room.

You have to be there.

When self driving tech fully matures, those cars would be faster and safer than any human driven cars. They don't need to care about and won't be affected by g-forces as much as human drivers after all. They'd also make far fewer errors than any human driver. They'd literally be able to be pushed to go as fast as physics would allow cars to drive on roads and their computer brains would be able to calculate.

@@gerhardaryawardana72 yeah that’s what’s super exciting they could save so much weight without a cockpit. No need for roll bars a gas pedal brake pedals dashboard nothing. That’s like 400lbs of weight. And yeah the lateral gs also would be amazing. Because they could corner without worrying about breaking the drivers neck lol

I'd be interested in full-size RC drone racing. balls to the wall with 0 risk to self would probably bring out some more intense driving.
