Claude does have flaws, but they are VERY hidden, so I don't blame people for missing them. Props to liking both Edelgard and Dimitri tho.

God the blue lions route sold me on this game. Dimitri's character arc blew me away and somehow gave me faith in IS again. And out of every voice actor they chose the man who was afraid of dragons. Also holy shit his growths are wack.

At one point Omni felt Dmitri would be an immense disappointment. Three Houses changes a man.

Dimitri is also my favorite Lord in the series. You didn’t even mention his growths and skills. His strength is god tier, good dex, good speed, one of the best battalions in the game and has access to battalion wrath AND vantage, making him the best enemy phase unit in the game. He is an absolute beast unit.

I will say this, Claude isn’t perfect. He talks about being interested in the Sword of the Creator before Byleth even learns about it’s existence and says that it can destroy even mountains. It is hinted at that Claude would start a war similar to Edelgard but since Edelgard acts first he decides to play the hero (especially with him looking for the sword of the creator, he could easily start a war if he had it). He doesn’t understand how much the non-nobles have to suffer (I think this was in his Cyril support but I might be mistaken) and wherever he goes, he is not welcome because of his parents being from different nations.

I just got to the point in Azure Moon where Dimitri regains his humanity. (I think you know where). And I got to say I see why everyone loves Dimitri and I fully agree now. Wow just incredible

Lucina, despite the fact that her class is literally lord, I feel doesn’t count as a lord. She’s never force deployed for one, but also you don’t even game over if she dies, which I think is the big deciding factor for “lord.” She just pulls the “I must make my retreat” card.

Tbh as much as I like Celica I found her the weaker of the two character wise. Alm sets out to do what's needed by his own hands. Where as Celica, while helping others, places too much faith in the goddess sorting out the situation, then Alm by the end. Please note Mila was portrayed as a rather complacent and hedonistic goddess.

Also one thing I really love about Dimitri is he better embodies "previous" Fire Emblem Lords the best! Like Ephraim, he is a strong spear user who originally didn't want the throne, and ended up with a larger responsiblity and ALOT of maturing and growing to become the king the people REALLY NEEDED for a large kingdom (Remember that Ephraim ends up ruling Grado at the end of Sacred Stones! And as Seth made clear after freeing his kingdom, the people were more happy from being FREE from tyranny then "him or his sister coming back to rule them as he did but them aside to go on his "One Man & Three other dudes crusade, shrieking his responsibilities for so long that his people would have some resentment towards him for being gone for so long that they suffered said tyranny in the first place). But the biggest is how he took "losing his father to battle!" especially when he self-isolated himself as he did! He's what Marth would have turned into without the combination of Caeda, Jagan and those who were with him in his exile! and was left to stew with the tragedies that happen to him (losing his entire family! I mean the first thing he discovered once he was in the process of taking back his home was the Dragon left in charge casually mentions having killed his mother and Elice his older sister's fate is still up in the air! Luckily he was prepared for the revelations neither survived what happened! But damn did it feel good FOR ME to slaughter said Dragon like a chump with him on that map!) The fact he devotes a large amount of his redemption to becoming a better king and pursuing the goal he and Edelgard shared of a better future for Fodlan (one where the Crest system and Nobility as they are didn't have such dominance). Though Dimitri's feels alot more "certain" in success then Edelgard's Meritocracy which has it's own flaws (though as I mean by "certainty" is that Dimitri isn't "Smashing the system completely and putting too much of his hopes on a new system that always has a risk of collapsing if not properly monitored and evolving as Edelgard only has so long to live before she succumbs! Seriously I'm reminded of Gaius from Tales of Xillia and how Millia pointed out the flaw of his plan, that being HE can be trusted to use the power he wanted right....but who's to say his Successor will also be so! History has shown just how great empire's fell to ruin because sadly the founder was exceptional....but an equally exceptional Successor was never on the cards and all their hard work went to ruin! Seriously look up what happened to Alexander the Greats Empire after he died! Felt like all his life work was for not. Tvtropes said it best with "Look on My Works, Ye Mighty, and Despair!") At least with Dimitri, he wasn't taking a risk on a new system, when he could just take a system that was working with flaws, and trim those flaws for a better outcome! You only go for a new system when the old system cannont be saved! However to be fair, no one can tell if an old system is unsavable or not or even if a new system will fail or not as the future cannot be easily read! Which is why as much as I give more points of success to Dimitri's end goal, Edelgard and Claude's end goals have just as much chance to succeed! Let's not forget that Rhea's system while flawed did do a decent enough job for what it accomplished up to Three Houses start! And it's how it is, which is why I can accept their outcomes! But then with how Revelations ended, I can see why I like Three Houses Four Endings! They don't come off as "Golden!" (I hate Golden endings where they try to play "and now we have Eternal WORLD PEACE!" Too unrealistic! I prefer something inbetween Arc the Lad 2 & 3's endings where yeah shit got fucked up, but at least we'll try to make things better going forward! It's alot more realistic! And really, Acceptable Realism in Fantasy is about how something makes sense then something that feels like it was "pulled out of the writers ass as a convenience!)

Claude does have some flaws (Trust issues, manipulative complex and the implication in CF that he was planning to start a war anyway), but the game never really does anything with them. The fact that his route was copied and pasted from Silver Snow (either because of budget or time) certainly does not help. My man got done dirty.

Already just at the start: Ephraim starts with D lances, this is easily shown by the fact that he can't use the Killer Lance from the chest at the start of 5x. And late in Ephraim route, he tells Lyon that he looked up to his intelligence and compassion, saying that Lyon shouldn't have let his jealousy and desire for the twins' companionship overtake him (as well as grief from his father dying & the complex he has thinking he couldn't become a strong ruler like Ephraim), because they were still friends at the end of the day and Lyon had plenty unique to offer as an individual and potential ruler. FE8 has plenty of cheesy and borderline unbelievable scenes, and I'm not saying you should like/enjoy it, but to say Ephraim is clueless to why Lyon would do what he did is really selling the strongest part of the main story short imho and pretty much just incorrect information.

My only problem with Dimitri is that he makes other characters around him worse. In BL, he will say some of the most psychotic things, and everyone around him (besides Byleth and Felix) will just nod and go along with it like nothing he says is wrong. The problem with blue lions is that there is no point of internal opposition to Dimitri within the group *cough Felix should’ve had a bigger role *cough, and it can sometimes make his development feel really jarring at times (especially considering the trigger for his change Rodrigue, has one of the worst written deaths in the entire franchise).

Here's the thing about Edelgard, the game has several paths so the characters are slightly different depending which one you go down. If you go through Verdant Wind, Silver Snow and especially Azure Moon, then yes, Edelgard does become a villain, a monster, someone beyond reason, because she didn't have the guidance of Byleth during her time at the monastery, and in Silver Snow, Byleth straight up betrays her. So instead, she's manipulated and her ideals are warped by Those Who Slither in the Dark, the same way (I might be wrong on this but it's at least it's my theory that) Nemesis was, she basically becomes their puppet. In Crimson Flower, that's the true Edelgard, that's who she really is, all she needed was for someone like Byleth to pull her out of the darkness she'd been living in her whole life. That's my take anyway.

Roy not being in here pleases me, although I definitely would put Ike higher.

Congratulations on the 10k, these videos seem to take a lot of time and effort and it certainly shows, good list overall too. In regards to Lyn being a "bad" unit I definitely see her positives and I personally don't see her as the worst Lord in the series although she is around the bottom and that is only if you play Lyn Mode, otherwise yeah she's probably the worst Lord, in Lyn Mode in order to get the best rank possible you need the funds rank, every weapon used I believe depletes it a big since you could instead sell things to get a better rank, there is one exception in the Mani Katti, since you can't sell it and it does effective damage Lyn is one of the best units to use in this Axe dominated story, it wasn't that hard to get a level 10 Lyn in my first run of Hard Lyn Mode although everyone else didn't get much XP, which is kinda fine since besides Rath their bases was still good enough for the main game. Because if you do a full run of FE7 your Lyn has a few levels even though she joins right when Axes are being swapped out for Lances she can actually contribute more than the Myrmidon's if trained although I'd argue Karen being better than Lyn you want Harken every time. Lyn also can do a few other things that Lords like Roy and Eirika can't do, firstly while her promotion is in no way superior to Eliwood's if you do promote her you can get to Nino one turn faster on her joining map which can really help out since Jaffar isn't as invincible on higher difficulties and when trained with the Mani Katti she can double the Valkyries on Linus' map which are a huge threat. To me Lyn is the opposite of Roy and Eirika who are both merely ok at the start of the game and quickly get to be utter garbage by mid game before in Eirika's case being a decent Monster killer after mid game or Roy dominating the game in the last few maps. Lyn on the other hand is incredible in her own mode, is iffy but definitely usable if she was trained in Lyn Mode and then by end game can contribute, so she's essential for early game full FE7 runs and can contribute afterwards, however whether she's worth it is up to you as you are giving up salvaging Eliwood who becomes pretty good when he's promoted. Also if just playing from HHM Lyn is kinda unredeemable, usable still but she's a lot more of a hassle if she hasn't been trained and at that point you'd rather just bench her and use Eliwood if you want at least another Lord.

The thing that causes a lot of hatred towards Edelgard is the same thing that led to a lot of hate towards Adolf Hitler. (let me explain) Both wanted to see the best for their country and have watched it suffer greatly, but their means to the ends that they seek can be seen as horrific or unnecessary. It takes away from the truth of their ideologies and makes them come off as monstrous.

Claude a first archer lord? There is literally Lyn- Oh, you mean the primary / first weapon.

My favorites Lords are Eirika, Roy and Leif only. Eirika since Sacred Stones was my first FE so is kinda more on the way she was the first main lord I met and this whole stuff. Roy because he is kinda cute and being the younger lord in the franchise also give him some bonus points. Leif is mostly due Feh related where I just love using Leif and Light's Brand + Infantry Hexblade is just to good. I could say Alm is also a character that I like, but he isn't a favorite of mine, specially on how oblivious he is about Faye's sentiments and since he did some questionable choices towards Celica, I don't like he as much... Maybe if was possible to make Alm x Faye an alternative ending on Echoes... (Which also is my ship) But I'm not the type of person that normally like the main characters (In this case main lords) of most of media and I always prefer the other supporting or main cast of any given media. Edit: Oh yeah, I like Alfonse too! I kinda forgot about him but he does count as main lord XD

In what unierse is Claude perfect? He is handsome, he is a strong unit, he has a great and captivating personality, but he also has serious trouble getting to trust into other people due to how his childhood went, and there's also the fact that his vision of an open and far more receptive towards the rest of the world Fódlan is also magic idealism: he never truly worries about the consequences of doing something like that: yes, he gets to know characters like Dedue, Petra or Shamir as representatives of their respective countries, but that doesn't mean he knows how relationships between countries will go, and all of this, in my opinion, make him a more relatable guy: a young man that wants to believe in a dream that we never know how it will turn out to be.

Ok lets see who's number 2 it can't be that bad- oh well im so happy i chose the pain of Maddening Silver snow no NG+ with very highly under leveled units just to see one cutscene the hardest way but seriously good video it felt nostalgic to see one of your videos again since i first saw one of your videos i wanted to learn more english to understand them (im spanish) one of your videos years ago on my recomendations was what got me into the fire emblem series that and my best friend having the GBA and Tellius games and now i can actually understand english sincerely i thank you so much.

I agree with you fellow "Edelgard trash!" While I love Claude & the Golden Deer Route in general! I also chose the Black Eagles and went Crimson Flower as my first run simply because I fell in love with Edelgard since the reveal of Three Houses back when it was "Fire Emblem Switch!" She made a first strong impression with me along with Claude being a Bow Lord (The first if you don't count Takumi! Which I don't as your only a Lord in my opinion if the game makes clear you dying is an instant game over in a large amount of the levels or the entire game! Avatar's are "semi-Lords!" because the only ones I like are Byleth Both Genders, but largely Female because "best waifu!". Robin, Kris, AND ESPECIALLY Corrin-Female are largely loved because of the good fanfiction made of them where the writting was what their main games they were in should have been written or close to! Especially with Corrin! Damn are the Awakening & Fates fanfics far superior! Especially Fates all around! Byleth kind of counts as a Lord like Corrin in Silver Snow seeing as there's no lord unless you count Seteth). As you said, she was never 100% right about everything that happened in Fodlan's past, which makes me like Rhea even more because her constant "lying for the greater good" only gives fuel to Edelgard's arguement! (Even worse by the fact Rhea is too deep in her PTSD tantrum to properly argue her case with Edelgard! Burning the Captial of her army's host at the end of Crimson Flower just further made her the villain Edekgard painted her out as!). Crimson Flower is the best to start the game with Plot wise (Still needed more chapters! But seeing how long the game is already! I think it fits the "Starting out" part as it leaves enough mystery on things to enhance the Blue Lions & Golden Deer routes plot more, Silver Snow really should have been more of it's own! But I can't say I hated any route in general unlike Fates where the only good route was Conquest in a gameplay point of view! All three Plots sucked and Revelations was only slightly better then Birthright because of the gimmicky maps......and that's putting it loosely as the gimmicks were interest....but not good, especially as map designs as what happens with "One time Gimmicks!") when I factor in "Edelgard's" view of history....and then find many things that contradicts her viewpoint (especially in Abyss!) though again Rhea's constant "Lying for the greater good" and refusing to tell the truth (Claude really made me like him more when he called her out on this in his route) only left her with what she (I doubt she fully trusted Thales and TWSITD fully on their side of the story. But Rhea's own contradictions likely made their side of the story have a bit more weight.....Seeing how Edelgard likely didn't have much negative to say on Nemesis and the Elites! They likely kept out the part where they really were evil villains like Rhea's history painted them out to be (And she was REALLY being nice in making them out to have just been "Good guy's corrupted by power later on" seeing what the Crest's & Hero's Relic's were made out of for the sake of their descendants.....especially Nemesis!) Dimitri was a big surprise for me when I got around to him (I played each in order from Black Eagles-Crimson Flower, Blue Lions, Golden Deer, & Black Eagles-Silver Snow). Around when I beat him at the end of Crimson Flower, I saw footage of him with an eyepatch and the infamous "Kill every last one of them!" scene and that peaked my interest in him more (He sounded way too generic good guy to me at first, but even how he acted in the War arc of Crimson Flower peaked my interest more). Felix attitude to him was good foreshadowing to what happened when he discovered "who the Flame Emperor was!" Especially after the shit Solon pulled at the village my Byleth started the game at! And boy did my view on him changed! I'm with you on this list of Edelgard being lower then Dimitri. Because that's what happened after going through his route next! Edelgard & Dimitri are better characterwise then Claude because of their flaws (and Edelgard not being 100% right like she believes she is! But that was the point of her character! She's not perfect!). Claude does have his flaws as well (Especially since in his route his House is pretty scattered with only few standing with him....and then many of them freaking die in the other two routes makes it worse! Let's not forget he doesn't really have that many ties to Fodlan to care much once those few ties are dead, unlike his route where he's in the right position and mind set to try for his). Dimitri is alot like Rhea in that "neither magically got over their trauma of losing their parent as they did!" (Dimitri more so, while Rhea only shows this in Crimson Flower), it took losing a second father figure because of his actions to wake Dimitri up from his murder-hobo boner without it looking like People should stop acting like the War Edelgard started wasn't going to happen any damn way at some point or another! Even with a little interference from TWSITD, there were a good many in the Empire who already had thoughts of reunifying Fodlan under the Empire anyway! And we saw what happens with the Alliance and how easy they started turning on each other for varies reasoning! The fact Claude was able to keep it stable as he did is a miracle I can believe without crying "Gary Stu"!) Hell Claude is Corrin "Done Right and BETTER!" in my opinion as both are fun to play as! But only one of them I can stand if not love, while the other.......I only like from "Fanfictions" that do their character better! GUESS WHO'S WHO! Claude's good, but he's alittle to perfect for me compared to the others (Edelgard's pre-battle dialogue with him in the war arc of his route was a good indication of that! He really had no strong ties or roots in Fodlan for her to trust it's faith in his hands. Of course the one thing that important is sadly with War "Might Makes Right!" The one who dictates history going forward is "the winner!" And I loved each Lord's Pre-battle dialogue with each other if they fight as it illustrates the tragedy that in some other time or world, they could have remained friends and allies.....but now their just in the way of potential progress" without it being shitty like it normally would (making them more likable!). And at least you can see how Byleth effected each lord and their house by being their House Professor as compare how they act and behave when your doing their route (or their in your house) and when their not in your route (or house). I love how at least some good comes about no matter the route without it being "as magical as Revelations Ending!" with their being Plus and Minuses to each ending to make them more real. And thank god I never had a hate boner for any of the end-game maps as I did Conquest's final map (the only major flawed map in Conquest minus the Golem Cave of HELL!) To be fair with TWSITD. Yeah they caused plot problems! But I liked how the best they could do was set the ground work for all the problems that plagued everyone in the lore. But like the man they're based after (Gharnef), unforseen "variblities" (as in ALOT OF THEM) cost them EVERYTHING! And they ended up irrelevant in the end (just like the Loptyr Cult! Like Bane said to Batman in the Dark Knight Rises! "Victory has defeated you!" They got too use to being on top and in control that they started getting sloppy and caused their own doom (Azure Moon being the funniest as Dimitri wiped them out through unknowingly killing off Thales...the only one who could work said Mecha and the Magic Nukes without much Fanfare....guess that's what happens when you the leader and Keystone of your organization act to front line and direct when you should be in the back lines "just in case!" Was it too hard for him to have a lackey take over the Arundel identity?)

I really love your take on both Dimitri and Edelgard. But there is just one thing we can't agree on. I don't like Lucina. I do think her character is tragic and all, but I just can't stand her personality. I don't even know why. It's just that she's always talking about Chrom and never about her other friends. Or maybe it's because I didn't play the future past DLC, who knows. I just can't stand Lucina. Or maybe it's because everyone keeps shipping her with Robin, even though Chrom is his true Soulmate. I'm pretty sure if Lucina wasn't mandatory for the game, Chrom would have been the first gay Lord in FE. Chrom is hardcore in love with Robin no matter the gender. Personally I think all his wives are shit, except for Robin and Olivia. It's just that Inigo and Morgan have the best dynamic with Chrom as their dad. But yeah, my favorite Lord now is also Dimitri. And I still love Chrom as well. He may be a dork, but you just can't hate that man.

So I'm still a bit confused regarding edelgards route. Does killing Rhea remove everyone's crests? Is that why she did it? I know Byleth's crest disappeared so does that mean everyone's did too?

I love Edelgard. She is the most realistic character out of the lords. She had to start the war to lure out those who slither in the dark. And she didn’t have a lot of life time so she wanted to create a world where everyone is accepted and treated equal as fast as possible.

Although I do agree on the sentiment of Edelgard’s visión of how they want Fodland to be free from this crest system. I still don’t understand why she has a distain towards the church and they’re crest system then for those who slither in the dark. It’s already been stated that it was the TWSITD where the ones that tortured edelgard and her siblings. How is getting tortured from TWSITD automatically make you hate the the church? Sure they implemented the system but weren’t it not for the TWSITD she wouldn’t have hated them as much as they do now. Sure she states that she know of TWSITD since Hubert tells us. But they don’t anything about it. The epilogue says they finished them. Yet I find that hard to believe since....well Dark Nemesis was resurrected. The whole golden deer path taught me hat TWSITD have some massive back up plans. We could’ve been fighting the Gundams, the beasts and the Hegemon!! Which let me tell you, Hegemon hates my Byleth, always targeting him instead of Anna. But thats a personal strife. My real beef is. If you know the reason all of this is happening is because of your tormentors, why are you siding with them and complying they’re wishes? Despite what the epilogue said, the TWSITD won. All they needed was to Kill Rhea the “False God” (this is another personal beef, but I’m sad there aren’t any manakete, beastmen, Laguz or Herons in the game....despite Rhea having the ability to transform at the cost of her sanity) which was already done by the end of the BE path. Sure they wanted to control the world, but they’re main objective (aside from reviving nemesis) was to kill Rhea. ALSO SPEAKING OF THE TWSITD. We never got a path that explains all of the TWSITD intentions huh? Just ashen wolves and that’s just another side story for Byleth and Co. I wonder if they’ll add another dlc path Another personal beef. While I agree that Celica has her mindset set on saving Alm and preventing a war with means of a more conventional path.....her choices on said path are....dumb. Lying, hiding VITAL information, taking some unnecessary actions and betraying her friends albeit not intentional. It’s a miracle, Celica’s army still trust her. In Alm’s case, he also doesn’t want a war. But not like he can do anything about it and so he charges forwards. The only path he can now take. Heck I’m surprised Celica thinks of Alm wanting to become King. She knows Alm more then anyone (Faye) so she should know he’s not into royalty. Also another one of my personal beef. I’m mad at Mycen for not joining us, but he was not to be exposed....yet most of the troops know of Alm as Mycen’s grandson....so I dunno. Celica makes dumb decisions. I think Alm is getting waaaaay misunderstandings when helping others and the kingdom. And yeah. Otherwise I loved this vid! The only thing the bothered me was Edelgard’s motivation for hating the church. Celica’s decisions which are not smart and Alm’s credit....which he deserves but like why are some of his allies asking where he to be king? Kid barely knows about ruling, your getting ahead of yourself people.

Yay somebody who likes both Dimitri and Edelgard lol. I think most people actually appreciate both their characters and the hate between them is over blown and just a couple of annoying people.

Not watching yet but I'm gonna say my opinion: Dimitri is the best Lord in the series. I've only played Awakening and 3H: Blue Lion Route but I relate so much to Dimitri as a character that it's literally impossible for any other lord in the series to be better than him IMO. EDIT: I watched after I wrote that comment, and I'm glad you agree. I'm pretty intrigued by what you have to say about Edelgard, but I've never played her route so I can't say anything about it. (I'm 2 months out from the timeskip on playthrough 3 of FE:3H and I've still only ever played Blue Lions)

Hi, FE7 was my first FE - thats all the reason most people need to know why i am defending Lyn. But in all honesty - she ia neither great nor bad. She needs investment (which u can easily give her with Lyn Mode) and than she gets ok. Sure having her promote earlier and also giving her the Blademaster Crit Bonus would be cool - but she is capable even without it. She just needs more investment than most FE7 Units to get there.

I feel like I might be beating a dead horse by saying this, but they probably won't remake FE4, and if they do, they will likely make changes to the unique mechanics utilized in FE4. Y'all should watch Chaz Aria's video called "Reasons why you shouldn't play Genealogy" and he covers it in great detail.
