@@aroperdope I mean, it's a rule Don't play Nibiru unless you can remove the token. if you can't you are just giving your opponent a massive beatstick in the form of a token.
@@pyroau I feel like we should tell him that these cards were extremely meta defining on release. And probably would still be if we didn't slap colossus to the forbidden list.
It's the "official" term for the Neos fusion archetype at the very least. Other than on this channel i have never heard the non-fusion spell card method of fusion (ie XYZ Dragon Cannon) been referred to as contact fusion.
14:49 Thunder Dragon Dominatrix would certainly be an interesting card. Top 10 Synchro Tuners Top 10 Best/Worst Cards That Can Miss Timing Top 10 Level/Rank 5 Monsters Top 10 Best/Worst Cards That Only Interact With A Specific Extra Deck Monster Type Top 10 Cards With More Than One Artwork Top 10 Best/Worst Cards That Can Return Banished/Graveyard Cards To The Deck
Bro, it threw me off when I heard Thunder Dragondominatrix. I was just chilling, not fully paying attention, then he said that and I focused up real quick. lol
Gladiator Beast Tamer Editor can easily be brought out with 2 Augustus and then you can just SS a Gyzarus then go into another Tamer after tagging Gyzarus into two Augustus again
i'm a bit miffed that gyzarus got the spot and not tamer editor because being able to cheese out dominitianus or heraklinos (who both have negates + destruction) is quite a deal better than a one time two card destruction effect. the existence of noxious makes it even easier to bring out tamer editor than gyzarus, since you don't need to beat your opponent's monsters in order to tag out noxious.
Even if you can't attack with Gyzarus and tag him out, you can just use Tamer Editor and Gyzarus to link summon into test panther, use test panther effect to search out gladiator beast comeback from your deck, then bring back Tamer Editor with comeback. Since Tamer Editor effect is a soft once per turn, you can use their effect again to cheat out either another Gyzarus or one Domitianus/Heraklinos
I think the reason that Gyzarus was used was because it's one of the only Gladiator Beast fusion monsters that saw competitive success. By the time Tamer came out, Gladiator Beasts were not well-suited for the modern metagame to see any competitive success.
I have some list suggestions of you don't mind: Top 10 stall cards. Top 10 generic pendulum cards. Top 10 "trap" cards. (Cards that seem good at first glance but aren't really that good.) Top 10 parody cards. Top 10 special conditions in the games. More Rescue Rabbit, please.
"Chimeratech Fortress Dragon" was one of my favourites. Especially in combination with "DNA Surgery" to whipe the enemy field clean of monsters and potentially OTKing the opponent (or at least breaking their entire strategy).
@@youtubeuniversity3638 Magic Cylinder would still be number 1. That marshmallow card that is a normal summon that cannot be destroyed would be on the list somewhere as well, probably around the #8 spot.
Thunder Dragons are so fun to play. I pretty much only like old school Yugioh, but Thunder Dragons' synergy is actually really straight forward and easy to do. Real fun!
I love these oddly specific and very niche videos, very unique, very entertaining, and very duel logs. Stuff like this keeps me hooked to his channel. Plus the side channel spin offs with stream vods is a welcomed addition to my watching patterns.
Twin Burst has the benefits of both normal and contact fusions and it also sees play in Duel Links and Master Duel, so I’d personally put it above YZ, but I appreciate that you included the speed duel format.
I was hoping to see any of the Elemental HERO Neos related Contact Fusions on here. Given some of them have a large amount of monsters they have to use, the Contact Monsters themselves can be brought out much easier with cards like Miracle Contact.
While the name orginally from Neos Because Jaden is more talkative than Kaiba, the x-y-z done the contact fusion first in the anime as Kaiba didn't use poly at all to fuse any of them and they're considered fusion cards
@@13thKingMu Yeah, he didn't create a catch-all word for them, but at the very least, he referred to making XYZ as "Gattai!" or "Combine!", a mecha anime term. Also, XYZ was basically a Super Prototype of Contact Fusion, as while there were a few other Spell-less Fusions in the game after it and before Gladiator Beasts, it was really the most effectively powerful Contact Fusion by a mile before Gyzarus (two-piece and three-piece Neos Fusions, Armityle, and even some of the other Glad Beast Fusions don't really stack up).
An actual “Thunder Dragon Dominatrix” would just be a Thunder Dragon monster fused with a Harpy Lady and/or an Amazon monster(s), or maybe just Mai Valentine or The Tyler Sisters in a Thunder Dragon getup…
Honestly, this was one of my favorite videos on this channel in a while. Mainly because I learned a lot of stuff I didn't know at all before now, but also the video felt more....idk, like it flowed really well? Not sure how to describe it well.
Mr. Logs it's quite fucking incredible how you're entertaining as a story teller (in your top 10 videos) but also a naturally funny person (on your stream). Really good content, thanks for lots of entertainment
GB Tamer Editor and Dominatius deserve a shout-out too. The whole plan is to bring them out. Dom grants an extra negate, protects cards like Apollousa and of course is very strong. Tamer Editor isn't a hard once per turn effect, so it can summon all of your GB extra deck in a single turn if all goes well.
I'm actually playing thunder dragons in master duel and every turn one my goal is just getting colossus out and titan, and then just pretty much get my graveyard as big as possible to protect them lol
Hey man. Big fan. I'm from Sudan. Since you talked about fusion, can you make a top 10 video about monsters used as a fusion spell, like Gravekeeper's Spiritualist and Predaplant Chlamydosundew. Thank you.
Ritual Beast Ulti-Cannahawk being limited because of allowing overly long turns doesn't really make sense though, considering Adamancipators and Flower Cardians are archetypes that exist. Video idea: Top 10 Archetypes (or maybe just competitive deck lists?) with Ultra-Long Turns
I recently got back into YuGiOh since the schoolyard days due to Master Duel, as well as yours and Farfa's videos. It really showed me how entertaining and genuinely fun the game can be when it's not just floodgates and omni-negates all the time. Thank you for your great, quality content. Hopefully this isn't out of place, but can I suggest something light-hearted for a video? I think "Top 10 Funniest Normal Monster Descriptions" could work. Surely if you dig deep enough you'll find something hilarious, right? I sure as hell snorted when I saw Mr "Check THIS out!" himself.
I don't think the duel logs really watches too much of the anime so for those wondering where the term "contact fusion" came from, it came from Jaden/Judai from Yu-gi-oh! GX. He ran Elemental Heros with Neo-spacians to make the Elemental Hero Neos fusion. In the show, they made a big deal about how he didn't need to use a fusion cards to make them (before, he ran pure Elemental Heros so you can assume from that, he ran a lot of fusion cards), describing them as Contact fusion, using materials on the field and shuffling them back into the deck without using a fusion card. I felt the need to point this out because he describes gladiator beasts as being unique for shuffling cards back into the deck when that's the most literal form of contact fusion. Every other version is meant to be an upgrade to the original contact fusion because Konami realizes that shuffling the materials back into the deck from the field is the most punishing and restrictive method.
I love the fact that ritual beast monsters have nothing to do with ritual cards at all and it took until the Gishki (the name for ritual monsters in JP) archetype to have a proper ritual deck.
Odd that SK Starving Venom wasn't mentioned considering it is capable of an absurdly consistently ftk and is the only banned one of the supreme king pend cards
My favorite alternative fusion monster is ABC dragon buster! That was the first meta deck that I played back in 2016. That sucker was so easy to learn, very beginner friendly.
How about doing lists like this for other monster types like self rank-up XYZ's or just cards/archetypes that bypass part of their normal summoning method like Megalith ritual monsters functioning as ritual spells or the various monsters that count as the whole tribute for ritual summons like Ritual crow.
Today in Master Duel, one dude was stealing my Ancient Gears with Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Was a really hard match for me. In the end he even stole my Chaos Ancient Gear Giant with Cyber Dragon Infinity. Luckily by the time he summoned Infinity, my opponent had 500 LP and after stealing my CAGG I was able to make Ancient Gear Howitzer to burn him with 1000 damage for the win.
I remember that weekend when Rocksies was first legal people were so sure that Thunder Dragon was gonna win at a YCS in Europe that if you put money on any other deck, people would laugh in your face. Prank-Kids don't search all that much, in terms of from deck to hand, at least. And that field spell kept on shrinking all those thunder dragons while bow wow bark's tribute effect meant no destruction by card effect. Oh and then Dropsies+Lampsies
For Trishula, Dragon of Icy Imprisonment, it see play in Dragunity because it's easy to get the effect off, and more importantly, the effect banishes Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Stroms, which adds pretty much any Dragon in the Dragunity deck.
You bring up a really interesting point with thunder dragon colossus. Being removed from the ban list would basically enable a strong return of thunder dragons in a modern setting. Throughout Yu-Gi-Oh history, there have been plenty of decks that were rendered meta unviable by some ban list hits that made them not necessarily unviable competitively, but not strong enough to remain in the meta. That might be an interesting top 10: top 10 decks that were rendered meta unviable by a banlist addition. And whether those decks would be viable again if that card or cards were removed from the ban list.
I love Thunder Dragons in Master Duel. Especially the match up vs Eldlich. Colossus and Titan paired with Dominatrix are almost undefeatable with Eldlich‘s power. And then you trigger your OG thunder dragons 5 times and destroy their board over and over again. So satisfying!
The ability to contact fusion from the Graveyard is one of the coolest alternate summoning mechanics of any extra deck monster only rivaled by Tri-brigades Banishing for Link monster effects. Really wish we had more than just ABC and A to Z that could do this because it could be quite useful for decks with small monsters that can get a lot of field presence. My favorite example of this being Kuribohs which can fill the field with monsters off of Kuribohrns Soul Charge esc effect. If they gave it similar effects to ABC, but with a more protection based focus then the deck might actually have a boss monster to build toward instead of just making generic link monsters and Lyriluscs
People forget about it quite often due to the insanely difficult task of actually meeting the requirements but Armed Dragon Catapult Cannon is also an extra deck monster that can special summon itself using materials from the graveyard. Rather, it uses material from the graveyard because getting in a situation where you have special summon armed dragon level 7 and vwxyz-dragon catapult cannon and kept them on the field is probably considered too ridiculous to pull off otherwise.
These mons makes me wonder how the game would be if fusing on the field was a thing you could do as a base rule, with the fusion spells helping with fusions by letting you fuse from hand,GY etc.
I think the Six Samurai Fusion monster would be an honorable mention. As for future video ideas, Top 10 Best Fiend Type monsters and Top 10 best Gemini monsters. Not sure if either one of those videos have been made yet, but I think it would be cool to see.
Glad to see this topic covered. I'm not too big of a fan that you seem to talk really fast in a couple videos as of late. Makes some points you make a bit harder to understand and it's also harder to fall asleep to. Otherwise great video!
I’d like to draw attention to Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon as an honorable mention. I think it’s the only fusion monster where you can summon it with a Fusion Spell OR without one by contact fusion
Hey I was running the luster pendulum engine in a duel I played against you the other day! Didn't get to show it off though because of a certain banned handtrap featuring cockroaches
Technically Dark Law should also be on this list, because Mask Change is not really a fusion spell. And also kinda surprised that Alba Renatus didnt make the list.
It's hardly meta but I like using Gravekeeper Supernaturalist a decent bit. The ability to search any Gravekeeper card is really good when running it as a deck, and the increase to its stats based on the fusion materials is great too. At the very least, you'll probably get a +700 to Atk/Def, if not higher, which stacks with other monster effects from the Archetype.
Also, Twin Burst Dragon can now be summoned with Ultimate Fusion cause the materials can come from the hand, field, or graveyard and has the additional effect of destroying cards up to the number of materials used for the fusion summon.
You just reminded me of my Blue Eyes and Friends Turbo deck again. Both with Colossus and Blue Eyes Twin Burst Dragon. As much as I'd like to list the entire deck here, It's too much work, and I'm feeling too lazy. Sorry, but not sorry. Anyway, I can say it was a 42 card deck with a full side deck and extra deck, and that extra deck had those two fusions in it. Ahh the good ol' days!!
This gives me an idea for a contact fusion _Gate Guardian_ rework: _Labyrinth Guardian_ *Level 11* *Pendulum Scale 11* _You must first set this card in your pendulum zone by banishing three cards from your hand, extra deck and/or field, OR 1 “Gate Guardian” from your hand, deck, field or GY. Once per turn, you may special summon 1 “Labyrinth Wall” and/or “Wall Shadow” from your hand or deck, ignoring their summoning conditions (This is a quick effect when you control no monsters on your side of the field). Once per turn, at the beginning of your turn, while “Labyrinth Wall” is on your side of the field, you may tribute one card you control or discard one card: until your next turn, you may declare that both players monsters require one more/less tribute to tribute summon monsters, but both players may normal summon an additional normal monster each. While “Labyrinth Wall” is on your side of the field, Spell/Trap cards directly behind it cannot be destroyed by card effect. While “Wall Shadow” is on your side of the field, all monsters you control gain 100 ATK/DEF for all cards banished or in the GY, and deal piercing battle damage. Once per turn (quick effect), you may banish 1 LIGHT, WIND and WATER monster each from your field or GY to special summon 1 "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", and "Suijin" from your hand, deck or graveyard, and if you do this card returns to your extra deck._ *Warrior/Pendulum/Fusion/Effect* _"Sanga of the Thunder" + "Kazejin" + "Suijin"_ _Must first be summoned either by Fusion Summoning, or Special Summoning by sending the above monsters you control to the GY, and then can be pendulum summoned. If this card would to destroyed by battle or affected by card effect (quick effect), thrice per turn you may send one card from your hand or extra deck to your graveyard: it is not. This card can make two additional attacks per turn against your opponents monsters, and during damage calculation of battles involving this monster, the ATK/DEF of monsters this card battles is reduced to 0. Once per turn (quick effect), you may tribute this card to add to your hand or summon 1 "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", and "Suijin" from your GY, and if you do they deal piercing battle damage while on the field, and you gain LP equal to any battle damage you would deal to your opponent with them. When this card would be destroyed, banished or tributed by your opponents card effect (quick effect), you may special summon 1 “Gate Guardian” from your hand, deck or GY, ignoring its summoning conditions._ *ATK/3750 DEF/3750*
Cyber Dragons have multiple in-engine ways to board wipe/break opponents. They have Megefleet, Fortress, and the light machine Kaiju; between those they can eliminate pretty much any monster.
I would like to give a mention to Supreme King Dragon Starving Venom because with the right set up that thing can be really busted and only needs you to tribute 2 dark pendulum monsters
Honorable mentions: Air Neos(the one card Konami wants you to forget) Armed Dragon Catapult Canon(the one you summons with Ojamas) Utopic ze.....oh wait
as a Cydra player it gives me such a huge high when you use Fortress to remove extra deck monsters people sometimes forget are Machines like Zeus or the other ones Duel logs mentioned.
It’s been a minute since I’ve looked at competitive yugioh but I thought Supreme King Starving Venom Dragon was an amazing card for being able to copy affects and deal piercing damage did it already get power crept?! I understand that the only way to get it without using fusion spells is with a pretty specific cost of two dark pendulum monsters that it can’t be that impossible
Honorable mention gravekeeper's supernaturalist. Just summon spiritualist and have necrovalley on the field and boom a 3200- 3900 atk monster that has protection on itself and necrovalley for destruction and searches for a gravekeeper's or necrovalley card
When I didn´t know yet, what xyz monsters were and I first heard the term, I thought it would be similar types of fusion monsters like XYZ Dragon Cannon....
you should do a video on top 10 cards that let you use powerful banned effects from cards like pot of greed, forceful sentry, change of heart, and other cards that are banned
Grave keeper's Supernaturalist. If you have necrovally and graverkeeper's spiritualist on the field you can fusion summon Supernaturalist and use a card in your hard as material. With both Necrovalley and Supernaturalist are together Supernaturalist has some amazing effects and protection.
