You know with the top tens recently it seems like they just think of a general theme release all the videos in that theme at once. Which it was spread out to keep variety
"Some monsters, aren't looking for anything logical, like high stats, they can't be fought, destroyed by card effects, summoned with Reasoning, or hit for damage. Some monsters... just want to watch the LP burn..." - Alfred talking about Raphion, the Timelord.
Love how a lot of these are Yami Yugi themed cards because he can cheat whatever he wants while no one else can use the cards. Believe in the heart of the cards!
He actually cheats very little as long as the shows rules are concerned, and if you want to test his luck against other characters he’s still far behind from that JOEY WHEELA luck (TM)
@@DeitySkullKid If you call that cheating and not just playing rules as written back when it was sorcerers playing with stone tablets and souls. Every player in the anime who called to a card spirit was cheating when they did so.
@@DeitySkullKidthis is said in the final duel and ONLY after he plays the card without looking. He doesn’t have the power to will the right card everytime until that duel as far as we know. Also, in GX, it’s shown that “drawing skill” is utilized to draw what you need
I'll have Aria the Melodious Diva as my pitch. From a really gimmicky battle phase related burn effect to protection that is fundamental to a meta deck's strategy and identity.
There is a VERY busted combo with Heart of the Underdog where you activate Reload as soon as you would no longer draw more cards. This will make you redraw ALL the cards in your hand, and immediately trigger another round of HotU. If you have more than one of both spell cards, it's pretty easy to draw your whole deck. However, this still means most of your deck is basically bricks, so while it's absolutely busted for card advantage, you better have a reason for diamond-handing your entire deck ^.^
Maybe combo it with Law of the normal? If you pulled it off you could have a whole board while they have an empty hand and have a massive amount of normal monsters. Though, still having any non monster cards will make Underdog less consistent, but it could be interesting to try.
@@TheCindering Nah, it was too inconsistent to have even a small amount more non-Normals. I played this a bit right around mid-Pendulum and really you only wanted to focus on consistent methods to set up your board with a negate (Rescue Rabbit into Evolzar Laggia) or floodgate (Evilswarm Ophion). And then you could also use Hand Destruction (so long as your opponent has at least 2 cards in hand) and HotU would also activate again. Pendulums made it very consistent, with both Pendulum Spells and Pendulum Summoning, but it still had the major flaw about needing Turn 3 in order to go off, and that required HotU not being destroyed. After that risk, drawing even a single non-Normal was too much a risk. My Deck, for comparison, would have only 3x HotU, 3x Hand Destruction, 3x Reload, and then Rescue Rabbit. Add in a ton of Pendulums, Level 4's of specific Rescue Rabbit use, and maybe some Normal Tuners with high defense. Now that contact fusions are more common, it might be slightly better, but without a way to reliably protect HotU (in addition to a negate/floodgate) it would always be a huge gamble in general.
It depends on the person giving the game, nothing else. The opponent cheating just means you can declare yourself the winner and activate the penalty game.
Make a “failed cards, etc.” video on naturia please! Also, how about a “top 10 cards NEVER restricted in any way, but were widely considered to be hit on a banlist” (ex. Dante)
@@uuh4yj43 no they weren’t, the only relevance they ever had outside of their extra deck monsters (just like ice barriers) was naturia Runick, and that wasn’t even close to anything pure plus it was all thanks to legacy support. The archetype has so many cards but they’re all pretty lackluster
Huge props on the constant videos while still meeting quality. I also really enjoy how you not only talk about the competitive depths of the cards, but also their (if any) anime relevance as well.
Honestly incredibly underrated card, even though it's so nerfed by requiring info from your opponent. Been tempted to run it on master duel, calling Maxx C. Practically guaranteed.
It's probably the best especially in tier 1-0 format. In tcg ppl using it to get snake eyes cards since mirror match is alot more common in there than it is in ocg
It saw plenty of play in Spright. Calling Maxx C is a win for the deck regardless of which decision they make, and virtually everyone runs the card at 3.
I liked lullaby a lot. I locked myself to specific restrictions (such as Spright 2 Lock or Cyberse Lock) to fetch myself Ash Blossom or Maxx C. Additionally, during the Fenrir running rampant back then, open Lullaby and call Fenrir is nice.
I know it's still not useful realistically, but there are cards that exist that spin cards to the top of your opponent's deck like Raiza the Storm Monarch. So Conscription isn't INHERENTLY risky. I mean...still difficult to use that way and not good, but y'know.
0:21 This gives me an idea to retrain Breaker the Magical Warrior in a way that combines it with Berserker Soul: _Breaker the Berserker Warrior_ (DARK) Level 4 Spellcaster/Effect _If this card is summoned, or if your opponent activates a card or effect; Place 1 Spell Counter on it. Gains 300 ATK/DEF for each Spell Counter on it. You can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card, then target 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy that target. If this card attacks and Inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can declare 1 card type (Monster/Spell/Trap): Excavate the top card from your deck, and if it’s of the declared type, send it to the GY, and if you do that, this card can attack again in a row, And if it does, repeat this effect (up to 7 more times or until you excavate a Card of a type that wasn’t declared)._ ATK/1600 DEF/1000
Would just need to carry over the limit of one spell counter like with breakers effect and then put a hard once per turn on it but other than that it think the card is decent
@@tfirkins6810 Or what if I combined Spell/Trap destruction and extra attack effects? Made all the extra Berserker Soul attacks made you spend a Spell Counter (So you can avoid having to keep the spell counters max. to 1, because the Spell/Trap and attack effects are competing for the same pool of resources)? I could even take off the limit of 7 since the spell counters would be the limit instead.
@@MysticKenji2 Here, let me bounce a potential errata off of you, tell me how you like it: _If this card is summoned, or if your opponent activates a card or effect; Place 1 Spell Counter on it. Gains 300 ATK/DEF for each Spell Counter on it. You can remove 1 Spell Counter from this card, then target 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy that target. If this card attacks and Inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can remove 1 Spell counter from this card; It can attack again in a row._ So basically this can turn the card into a battle related Diet-“MAXX “C””, where if they spam too many Card/Effect activations, and you’re able to protect Breaker until the battle phase, The Berserker Warrior would be able to dish out a potentially _ruinous_ amount of battle damage, and/or absolutely smash up your opponent’s monsters. Meanwhile tying it to it’s Spell Counters A: Is more in character for Breaker himself, B: Makes his user need to decide white either save the Spell counters for destroying Spells/Traps or to MAIM-KILL-BURN in battle, and C: It stops the card from being a self-milling machine at the same time it’s being a killing machine.
I still play my old app of Duel Generations when I’m just having fun on my phone. I’ve pulled off an exchange on ZONE’s Final Countdown deck before and activated Final Countdown before he could. Since his whole strategy is nothing but stalling, he computer can’t do anything but flounder. It’s great fun.
With Berserker Soul Atem was technically following the rules as they were at the time as the rules at the time dictated that you had to keep going regardless of whether or not you opponent's LP hit 0.
my favourite is ordeal of the traveller "When an opponent's monster declares an attack: Your opponent chooses 1 random card in your hand and calls the type of the card (Monster, Spell, or Trap), and if they call it wrong, return the attacking monster to the hand." I use it in my gamble deck all of the time on master duel I love it when they call it wrong and bounces extra deck monsters back to the extra deck
not gonna lie last year when I was playing abyss actors used exchange as a side deck card when going first because it was actually really good at ripping annoying going second cards out of my opponents hand while so giving me knowledge of what they’re gonna do next. This actors had so much searching I could afford to give them a useless card while also holding onto a explosive going second card that can be used against them if needed. the card was a total meme but surprisingly useful
Honestly, it's fitting Joey used the card "Question", boy's got a preference on gamble cards in his deck, to the point that in the Yugioh R manga, one of Yugi's friends tells "Joey" that he's more so a gambler than a Duelist. He even lost a gamble in a duel prior to that moment in that manga. Thankfully, he had a card ready to reroll his luck, metaphorically, since the gamble card he lost the gamble with was a spinner gamble card. Things would've gone very bad had he not have that card ready that gave him a retry on his gamble card
I'd love to see you rank the best/worst cards that feature other real cards in their artwork. Things like Exchange, Card Destruction and Three of a Kind.
10:53 I used ante in Duel Links in a version of the fortune lady desynchro FTK(one of only a few FTKs in the games history). I ran a level 12 monster so I could pretty much guarantee the activation. Even if I failed to FTK, resolving the hand rips allowed me to still win a couple duels where I hit important cards. Usually people use dragons gunfire instead which does 200 less damage and doesn’t hand rip but you don’t need the high level monster.
I was always a fan of Reasoning. I ran a Fortune Lady deck and currently run Witchcrafters, so the level is actually a tough choice for them. And WCs really like having their spells milled for free.
I think "Monster Slots" should have been on there. It can only be used in decks with a lot of monsters of the same level, which you need 1 on the field and 1 in the graveyard to activate, but it's an upstart goblin when you lose, and a special summon from deck when you win, which I think beats a few other cards on this list.
Other cards that are great when paired with Heart of the Underdog include any Quick-Play spell that can draw you cards, particularly Reload and Hand Destruction. While these are great to have to help you *GET* to HotU if you don't have it in your starting hand, they're not dead if you draw them either. This is because HotU only cares if you draw *A* Normal Monster *DURING* the Draw Phase, not the 1st card or cards drawn with HotU. So, if you draw one of these cards instead of a Normal Monster, you can immediately activate it, draw 2+ cards, and continue the chain. Even if your luck is terrible and the last card you drew was a non-Normal Monster, HotU only cares that *A* Normal Monster was drawn, not whichever one was last. Best of all, Reload in particular only gets crazier as the game goes on because it shuffles your entire hand into the deck to draw the same number of cards. This means that the more cards you draw, the better your odds are that you'll draw other copies of Spells or the Exodia head in a way that keeps them from interrupting HotU's effect.
If this list wasn't inspired by the recent Master Duel double Skull Invitation event then it's some crazy coincidental timing. (I played against someone running Numerons, draw cards, and Saryuja to get their LP super low, then Reversal Quiz call "Spell" and win instantly. I made a budget version of the deck since I already had Saryuja, Numeron, and a playset of Reversal Quizzes. Though I found out the hard way that you have to have at least 1 other card in your hand, and Fhuma Shuriken/Black Pendent have to be sent from the *FIELD* to the GY to activate... The craziest thing was, not only did I eventually manage to pull off a win despite not having cards like Upstart Goblin and running Planet Pathfinder for consistency, but I won by sending 2 Copies of Fhuma Shuriken to the GY just like the guy who beat me, but also with the *EXACT* same card on the top of my deck revealed by Reversal Quiz ...which was the *THIRD* Shuriken!
Allure of Darkness kind of counts, since it's only a gamble if you don't have a dark monster in hand when you use it, or the only dark monster in hand is a critical engine piece. The draw 2 is great, but you could wind up banishing an engine piece (Blackwing Simoon), or fizzling completely and having to ditch your hand
Theres a shot on iphone meme video from 3 years back where a guy plays Pot of Extravagance on turn 1 and banishes 6, only for the 6 banished cards to be ALL the copies of his dragonmaid fusion monsters (3 House, 3 sheou) Then the 2 cards he drew were both Pot of Extravagance.
i remember using Reversal Quiz deck in Tag Force Games for PSP to quickly farm heart points since handicapped duels put you at 100 LP and your opponent at 16000.
what about this card Uradora of Fate normal spell Pay 1000 LP, then target 1 face-up monster you control; it gains 1000 ATK until the end of your opponent's turn, and if it does, apply this effect until the end of your opponent's turn.● Each time it destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can reveal the bottom card of your Deck and place it on the top or bottom of the Deck.If the revealed card was a Dragon, Dinosaur, Sea Serpent, or Wyrm monster, draw 1 card for every 1000 ATK of that monster, then gain 1000 LP for each card drawn. this card gives you an attack boost , draw cards and gain life points it is will be more effective with monsters that can attack more than one time to try your luck and if you are lucky the next attempts will be guaranteed if you put the card in the bottom of the deck even if you are unlucky you will get the attack boost
There was a 2010 event in Master Duel the other day and I went with “Janky Exodia Deep Draw FTK” using Heart of the Underdog, I wish I had thought of the Spirit Ryu combo then aha
You’re just wrong about the Berserker Soul moment. In the dub, it’s a turn to darkness, with Tea even getting mad at the Pharaoh. In the sub, it’s a moment of rage, with Anzu stopping the Pharaoh because he’s really doing himself no good in the moment
Question is particularly fun with a charmer.Deck build as most people can never remember the individual names as they all share titles. Speaking of which I wouldnt mind seeing a failed archetype about them, They have a lot of potential , but they're a little too gimmicky to be competitive outside of a few choice links like the light charmer or hiita to steal snake eyes
18:57 Idea to make a “Morganite” style version of this: _Equivalent Exchange_ Spell Card _For the rest of this Duel, apply the following effects._ ● If Either player adds any number of cards to their hand by card effect, their opponent can draw up to an equal number of cards. ● If Either Player takes control of their opponent’s card(s), their opponent can take control of up to an equal number of cards from their field. ● If either Player gains any amount of LP, their Opponent can gain an equal amount of LP. _You can banish this card from your GY, then discard 1 card; Both Players can shuffle up to 2 cards from their GY or Banishment into their deck._
I'm pretty liberal with what I consider gamble cards, but even I think that calling Desires and Exchange gamble cards is a stretch. I would have gone with Dangers and Spyrals as the top two spots instead.
in germany we normaly go from class 5 to class 10 in the same school, i was in class 10 and often played yu-gi-oh during recess with the fifth grade pupils, (not for prices or stuff but for fun) i had multiple decks for fun and one real one, i rotated question through my decks so they never knew if it was inside,
Hi a great video again, I think it's possible to add Reasoning in this list. There is a gamble for your opponent to guesss the Level. There is also a gamble for you to find a monster a bit fast to not excavate your whole deck
Awesome list idea, and pretty great that our lists wound up so different. I'd put forward Chaos Ruler, the Ishizu millers, Tear's Schieren, Kit, and Kash, Zombie Vampire, the Triple Tactics cards, and Pot of D, with an honorable mention to Painful Choice for technically being a gamble of what gets added to hand (even if it doesn't generally matter).
How Question is really good: Make your monster cards Japanese. So the opponent must know how to read/speak Japanese to actually get Question correct. (alternatively, so they must know BEFOREHAND what the cards original name is) "Question!" "Blue Eyes White Dragon." "No. The bottom card is actually 青眼の白龍"
3:49 Idea to make a Machine version of this card: _Emergency Mass Production_ Quick-Play Spell _Activate only if you control no cards in your main monster zones. Excavate the Top card of your deck, and if it’s a Level 4 or lower Machine monster, Normal Summon/Set or Special Summon it, and if you do that, repeat this effect up to 4 more times or until you excavate a non-Machine monster or Spell/Trap. You can only activate 1 “Emergency Mass Production” per turn, and also, You can not Summon/Set other monsters for the rest of the turn after you activate this card, Except Machine Monsters._
You can actually cheat with heart of underdog using "reload" and/or "Hand Destruction" in your draw phase. Also you forgot to put Slash Draw in your video.
They need to make a berserker soul retrain that makes it stronger than the anime one because it’s not like berserker soul was broken in the anime Also if I had a penny for every time I used true name blindly calling metal reflect slime that Maxx C is chained to by the opponent, for the top deck to be correct and while I also have The Revived Sky God in my opening hand all on turn 1, I would have 2 pennies. That isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice. No really what are the odds of that happening twice?
The exodia player on exchange might be taking raigeki because they know now there exodia win condition is off line so there gonna try to achieve a deck out and that extra raigeki could keep them alive long enough
