I remember getting FF Tactics Advance as a birthday present when I was a kid, and I was disappointed at first because I had actually asked for a different FF game but my mum had gotten them mixed up. But I'm so glad she did, because I absolutely loved that game!
If you ever want to play a similar game, you should check out Tactics Ogre: Knights of Lodis. It was the last game Quest made in the Ogre Saga series before Square Enix bought them out and had them make FFTA.
Lol same here but for my flash cart to use on a recently purchased game boy micro. The only game I had not heard of was Sigma Star Saga. Looks very interesting.
Pokemon's the obvious choice, so I'm never mad when it's not included in lists like these. Not like we don't know about Pokemon already, might as well give other games a chance to shine.
I always enjoy your lists, as you always have several less-popular games I've never heard of and likely would never give a second glance. Definitely several I hope to look into here, as I'm sorely lacking on GBA games!
Metroid: Zero Misson Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Zelda: The Minish Cap Super Mario World Advance 2 Yeah I maybe a total sellout but these games are so god damn fun.
i feel like i'm the only one who finds super mario world extremely boring. smb3 was so fun and had so many different power ups and stuff, and after that smw just felt so bland to me. i loved yoshi's island though, it added unique new gameplay and has the most amazing backgrounds i've seen in a 16 bit side scroller by far.
@@Jack_80 I mean honestly I do think it's probably you man. SMW had a ton of hidden shortcuts and endless ways to explore the levels with the Yoshi's. The world was so damn charming but the key win more than anything is the soundtrack. I think SMW has the best soundtrack in the series by a very long shot it just invigorates me to keep going. SMB3 was a great game but dying in it honestly irks me because for whatever dumbass reason the GBA version doesn't let you save wherever you want. And dying in that game is much easier than in SMW because the game legit does have challenge. I love it's world and secrets but I can rarely feel the want to pick it up and dive in ya know?

I actually really appreciate that this is your personal favourite list, and not just the same "top GBA games" list that's copy pasted all over the internet! There are some really unique and interesting entry's here!
Absolutely! Circle of the moon to me is Metroid in Castlevania clothes!! Fantastic game! I’m actually just about finished. Collecting potions to get through the battle arena before heading to Dracula!! Soundtrack and map layout are phenomenal!!
Just finished circle of the moon I have 98 percent complete which sucks cause that means I have to run around and hit every wall lol I also got all the cards. This games best feature to me is the blending of old school castlevania with the new metroidvania type castlevania games like symphony. You move and attack like the classics and there is no shop(didn't like that at first but kind liked how it increased difficulty) but it has nonlinear castle map design as well as a leveling system and introduces magic attack again this time done a lil different and yeah I have my problems with system, the extremely low drop rate coupled with no way of knowing which enemies holds one can be pretty frustrating also how it won't say the move till you use the effect once (a whole segment is dedicated to these special power moves but never tells you ingame how to use them and it's kind of a long motion.. plus controls could be in the manual which I didn't get and if so i take it back) but it's highs outlay the lows and having played lots of 2d castlevania this one did a great job of standing out and made a strong impression. Oh and mega man. Battle network 4 that is all
My favorites in no particular order are: The Legend Of Zelda: A Link To The Past/Four Swords Wario Land 4 Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3 Mario Kart Super Circuit Dragon Ball Z Buu's Fury Golden Sun & TLA Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga Mario VS Donkey Kong Dragon Ball Z Legacy of Goku 2
I recently played my older brother's GBA and the first game i actually played was Metroid Zero Mission. It's easily the best game i have played in recent years.
My favorite GBA game definitely comes down to either Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team or Metroid: Zero Mission. Red Rescue Team was the first game I ever owned (and an outstanding game by itself), which pretty much guarantees it a top spot, but Zero Mission is so fun and replayable that it's hard to choose between the two.
My top 5 gba games 5. Mario Kart Super Circuit 4. Metro Fusion 3. Mario and Luigi Super star saga 2. Final fantasy tactics advance 1. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow
try these: *Cima: the enemy *megaman battle chip challenge *kingdom hearts: chain of memories *Yggdra Union *riviera *castlevania: circle of the moon *castlevania: harmony of despair *castlevania: aria of sorrow *king of fighters howling blood
I totally agree with the liking the shorter rpgs if they’re really good. I hate when games are just filler not killer. I’d much rather a shorter quality game than a longer game that feels like a chore to complete!
here's my top 10 GBA games 10: Lady Sia 9: Advance Wars 8: Drill Dozer 7: Harvest Moon:Friends/more Friends of Mineral town 6: Pokemon Ruby, Staffire, and emerald 5: Kirby and the amazing mirror 4: Sonic advance 1,2,&3 3: Wario land 4 2: Castlevania: aria of sorrow 1: Fire Emblem and Fire emblem sacred stone
hey metal jesus I'm a 13 year old boy who has been learning a ton from your videos in fact I buy games from friends and it's all because you taught me just cannot thank you enough. Your like a teacher to me and it would be awesome to meet u and talk about games. you make great videos and it can cheer me up keep up the good work and thank you!
The minish cap is my favorite Zelda game of all time the story was good and the artwork was beautiful and imaginative. I wish they could do an hd remake of that classic.
My favorite GBA games were: Sonic Advance 3, Motocross Maniacs Advance, Urbz: Sims in the City, Idirion 2, Banjo and Kazooie: Grunty's Revenge, Tak 2: The staff of Dreams, and Jimmy Neutron vs Jimmy Negatron.
Really good list! I almost agree on every title! Metroid Zero Mission and Fusion, Golden Sun 1 and 2, FFTA... These games are a big chunk of my childhood, and gave me so many good memories. Playing through the Golden Suns gives me tears any day. Sweet, sweet melancholy...
I have Mario&Luigi Superstar Saga, got it for my 12th birthday, it was amazing, I must've played it over and over. another favourite that I have is Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. super fun rpg game on the GBA, a ton of hours went into that.
1-.Metroid Fusion 2-.Metroid Zero Mision 3-.Wario Land 4 4-.Zelda Minish Cap 5-.Mario & Luigi Super Star Saga 6-.Megaman Zero 3 7-.Pokemon Sapphire 8-.Fire Emblem 9-.Golden Sun 10-.Advance Wars
10. Mario Kart - Super Circuit 9. Medal of Honor Infiltrator 8. The Urbz - Sims in the City 7. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow 6. Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga 5. Dragon Ball Z - The Legacy Of Goku 4. Pokemon Fire Red 3. The Sims - Bustin Out 2. Metroid Zero Mission 1. Metroid Fusion
Golden Sun: you should check out Tales of Phantasia as well Metroid: I play both of the Metroid games and they are simply amazing P.S.: thank you for not including Pokemon. LITERALLY everyone already knows about them and how they're always #1, so excluding them gave you a better, longer, and more unique list in my opinion
ToP is amazing! Too bad we haven't gotten most of the other games except on mobile(which I refuse to play since they monetized it and made it several times harder).....
My top five: 5. Spiderman 4. Yoshi's island 3. Doom 2. Doom II 1. Batman Begins. This is one of the few good movie games. It incorporated stealth, you got awesome gadgets, it was amazing. Ironically, since this game was hard I never got that far, my favorite part was training with Ra's Al Ghul and in my #1 game of all time, Batman Arkham City, my favorite part was also training with Ra's Al Ghul. Great game. Highly recommended.
I subscribed a few weeks ago after lurking on this channel for over a year. Now on a MJR marathon! Love the channel and great selection of GBA games! One of my favorite systems of all time. Think I'll go play Zero Mission again now haha.
I imported the Japanese Famicom Version Gameboy Micro. It is pretty much the same as the US 20th anniversary GB Micro except the Japanese one has a "Happy Mario 20th" logo on the back and it came in a really cool Super Mario 8 Bit design on the inside of the box.
***** The purpose of the Gameboy Micro was the legacy of 'Game&Watch' and before you say "oh but the DS is", well the DS is the prodigy of 'Game&Watch'. You've got to look at Nintendo as a whole. So far they have done everything else except R.O.B.
I love the GBA micro. The screen is super sharp and the button layout is perfect. I'm 6'2" and have large hands, but still the micro fits perfectly. My only gripe is that you can't connect the micro to the GameCube.
In no particular order, my favorites are Pokemon Fire Red Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow F-Zero Maximum Velocity Mario and Luigi Superstar Saga the port of Yoshi's Island and Megaman Zero
I gotta say, this is a *great* list! I haven't played all the games on your top ten, but of the ones I have, I agree with you that they're all amazing. Astro Boy: Omega Factor probably tops my own personal list.
My top 10 would actually be pretty similar to this. There were a lot of games I loved from the GBA, but these would have to be my favourites: 10. Pokemon Fire Red/ Leaf Green9. Golden Sun8. Metroid Fusion7. Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town6. Tactics Ogre: The Knight of Lodis5. A Link to the Past Advance4. Super Mario World Advance3. Metroid: Zero Mission2. Fire Emblem : TSS1. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Ill just list the first 10 GBA games i can remember that i love 1. Megaman EXE 1-5 i didn't play 6 2. Mitroid Fusion 3. The three GBA Castevania games 4. Fianl Fantasy A 5. WarioLand 4 6. Kirby game (can't remember the name) 7. Sonic A games (was there 2 or 3 games) 8. Super Rubot Wars OG1+2 and the three main games 9. Megaman Zero 1-3 i played 4 on the DS 10. yugioh games
+Almozayaf Roman Dude, You have great taste, literally 8/10 games you listed there would've been in my top 10 as well (especially the megaman franchise, both EXE and Zero) :D
@@Bobbydiat maybe you dont like it, but its a very good franchise. Of course every person has its own opinion. For example I never got into Metal Gear but I can see or understand why so much people loves it.
thanks to you And you videos I learnt about so many games that I didn't even knew that existed! thank you metal Jesus And I have to say that Astro boy for GBA was introduced to me through your videos and know is one of my old time favorite games!! thank you again And all the support from Greece
3 best GBA games are Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones (really hard to pick). I am extremely partial to Tactics Ogre, Lunar Legends, Riviera, Lufia, Yddgra Union, Sword of Mana, of course Zelda: Minish Cap & M&L: Superstar Saga, and all the other ones MJR mentioned. O yea River City Ransom is great.
Also I dont care how much you've played Demon's Soul, anyones who's played Riviera knows there isnt a game that you'l die more in. It isnt even frustrating after a point, you just keep dying and retry'ing over and over. thats not even the worst part...its the lack of item storage, bane of any RPG fan.
ok i did really like that game, I honestly played it for the first time when i got a voucher for it as the ambassador thing for ppl who bought a 3ds before they lowered the price, im still playing it, pretty genius all in all.
damien hansen Dang it,now I wish I had a time machine. (I thought they wouldn't delete the gba games on the 3ds,turns out I'm wrong, that has to be a stupid mistake on Nintendo.)
yup, cant get em in the eshop, ambassador exclusive apparently, still not worth 80$ or how much ever that price drop was a month or two after the 3ds came out.
I work with a younger version of MetalJesus @ my local Best Buy here in Glen Burnie MD. His name is Brian, he literally is a spitting image of MetalJesus.
+ibanez2010 I never played the minish cap until a few months ago but I agree, it is a great adventure game, and this is coming from someone who never played a Zelda game before.
1:11: 10. The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap 1:58: 9. Sigma Star Saga 2:59: 8. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 3:54: 7. Mario vs. Donkey Kong 4:48: 6. Golden Sun & Golden Sun: The Lost Age 5:41: 5. WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! 6:28: 4. Astro Boy: Omega Factor 7:16: 3. Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 8:17: 2. Final Fantasy Tactics Advance 9:12: 1. Metroid Zero Mission
My faves: -Frogger temple of the frog -Pokemon emerald -mario tennis power tour -yugioh eternal duelist soul (best yugioh game of all time imo) -Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories -Fire emblem: Blazing Sword -Advance wars -sonic advance 2 -kirby nightmare in dreamland/amazing mirror -Medabots: Metabee -kuru kuru kururin -Drill Dozer
Castlevania: Harmonny of Dissonance, Circle of the Moon, Wolfenstein 3d, Doom, Doom II, Duke Nukem Advance, Contra Advance, Altered Beast, Final Fight One, Double Dragon Advance, River City Ransom, King of Fighters 1 and 2, Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Super Street Fighter, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Super Ghouls n Ghosts...???
I'm glad that you didn't include Pokemon. Not that it's not a great series from my perspective, but when lists are just packed with popular games that we see over and over, it gets a little old. Haven't watched the list yet, gonna make a cup of tea first, because I'm British, and it's obligatory. Note, I don't like the Pokemon games past D/P/P.
1 per franchise: Megaman Battle Network 3, Castlevania Aria of Sorrow, Metroid Zero Mission, Mario & Luigi SS, Boktai 2, Advance Wars, Megaman Zero, F Zero Maximum Velocity, Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland, Game&Watch Gallery 4 starting to realize i didnt play many gba games
Where is the ADVANCE WARS! That game was GOD TIER AMAZINGNESS!!! Clean, Simple, Concise, Elegant, DEEP, with a HUGE skill gap. Thats all the good qualities I look for in a game! And because its turn-based you dont even have to have good reflexes at all, a pure military strategy game :D
My top 10 Gameboy Advance games in no particular order are: 10. Final Fantasy VI Sound Restoration 9. Final Fantasy IV 8. Metroid Fusion 7. Shining Soul 2 6. Zelda Minish Cap 5. Guilty Gear Advance 4. Surge: Hive 3. Sonic Advance Series 1. Castlevania Aria of Sorrow/ Circle of the Moon Bonus: Fire Emblem: OG and Sacred Stones
My top 5 (aside from pokemon): 5. Metroud Fusion 4. Minish Cap 3. Golden Sun series 2. Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga 1. Doom series Honorable Mentions: - Metal Slug Advance - Super Mario Advance 2 - Drill Dozer
I'm really glad that Metroid: Zero Mission was #1 on your list. I logged many fun hours playing this game, as well as Metroid: Fusion. They're both fantastic games, and like you said, they're the only reason I still own my GBASP.
8:34 Metal *Jesus* playing a video game *religiously* ? That's the kind of content I am subscribed for. But on the reals though, FFTA is one of my favorite games of all time.
How can you be a hardcore gamer and not get a gba until the sp came out? Even as a teenager with no money I made sure I got one on launch day. It was a no brainer.
