Messi was playing against 'Getafe'-a place (and indeed football team) I still haven't heard of despite having Spanish family and visiting Spain circa 10 times. Hardly a fair comparison.
This is one of the best videos I've seen in a long time but good all around. The footage is the best and the aftermath of the goal is presented and that adds to it immensely. Loved the footage from R. Carlos goal circa 97 was the best view and clarity I've ever seen before! I've seen that goal hundreds of times and it's never that real life like fuzzy old school colors tv appearance.

But you have to remember maradonas goal was in a World Cup knockout match meaning it was on the biggest stage. Messis was technically a better goal tho.

I agree that most of these belong in a Top 10 list, but not number 10 and number 6. Bergkamp’s goal against Argentina is in a different league from both. His one for Arsenal against Newcastle deserves to be there in place of the number 10 as well.
It’s there was VAR back in the day Diego’s goal wouldn’t exist. Missing a few other classics like Van Basten, Giroud and Bale for me but a good top ten. Peace
I would take issue with most of these! Zidane at no. 2? Fantastic goal, but Mandzukic and Bale have scored better ones in Champions League finals since then. Rivaldo at no. 3? Again, great goal but not that good! Trevor SInclair's overhead for QPR should be in there. Lothar Matthaus volley from a corner in the Bundesliga, Van Basten, Cambiasso finishing off that passing move for Argentina in the world cup... All better goals than many in this top 10.
