I started watching the O.C in 2004 and I don't think I'm ever gonna fall out of love with that show. It's so warm and witty and fun, plus all the drama and thr actors are great.

I just finished watching falcon Crest. It's truly one of the best soaps and got my dad into it. Angela Channing had alllll the tricks up her sleeve.

Falcon Crest & Knots Landing should be ranked a lot higher. Desperate Housewives was always Knots Landing Lite to me.

For me it will always be Knots Landing as far as adult soaps go. Teen soaps my era was Dawson’s Creek.

Interesting backstory on Knots Landing. It is spoken of as a spinoff of Dallas but was created first. CBS passed but asked for a show about Gary's family. Hence, Dallas. But when Dallas became a smash, CBS changed their mind. And KL wound up staying on the air longer than Dallas did. I still miss KL. And would watch the whole thing again if I could find the whole series streaming.

Time 2:45PM Mon 11/5/18 Chelsea 100% agree I love OTH I got to see every episode except the final one. But I did see clips of the final one. Dan Scott was the most evil character on the show.

Absolutely crazy. The caliber of acting on knots landing would top 90210 cheesy acting and stories any day. Don't get me wrong, I loved 90210 too but they are just in two different leagues

I totally agree that DALLAS is the number 1 night time soap. However, Dynasty and Knots Landing should switch places. Finally, Falcon Crest should be much higher than ninth place.

You can say that if you want but as someone who speaks from real life experience when you know you know! I met husband Jamie on December 7th, 2011 and by the 21st we were together. We were together a total of three days before he proposed and I said yes! Unfortunately we are not together right now but we had five years of marriage and 10 wonderful pets! I understand it is a bit unconventional but I love that a true love story like this exists in TV and probably helped to make OTH my favourite TV show!

I heard the reason for that was the writers of KL were not consulted beforehand about the plans to bring Bobby back and were upset about it so that's the reason Bobby was still dead on KL

Victoria Richardson Po5 was fucking awesome. Neve, JLH Scott Wolf and Matthew Fox (lol a wolf and a fox) got their big breaks from this show. I know JLH did well before this show but this was what thrust her into teenage stardom in the mid 90s and made her a househeld name

I think this genre is confusing. What is a soap actually? To me all dramas are. So I think it should be put on teen drama list instead.

@@mightybitchy a soap is a drama with continuing stories that focuses on the personal lives of it's characters and their lives and loves. Basically what daytime soaps used to do, it relies on a serialized story telling method and cliffhangers on occasion. You also can't watch random episodes out of order like you could on a regular drama series or a sitcom as nighttime soapa have intracatly plotted continuing stories from episode to episode. Hope this helps

I didn't even think half of these shows were soap operas. I just that they were just regular old drama shows. Then again, the difference between regular old drama and melodrama is that the former doesn't get too extreme or cheesy they way melodramas do.

I think Eastenders should've been mentioned. I know it's so UK, but it's one of the rare soaps I've ever watched and it had some very interesting characters/moments i.e. when Phil Mitchell got shot.

One Tree Hill and The OC were considered nighttime soap opera 's, that's the point of this list. Desperate Housewives was serialized like a soap but to me it was more of a dark comedy with soapy serialized stories mixed in

I really liked my so called life. It was different and edgier than a lot of shows. Kind of sad. Childhood best friends Clare Daines and Devon Odessa grow so far apart in high school. They were finally becoming close again when the show was canceled.
