Put tape between the tire and your frame, when you klime a mounten and your wheel wobbles under the stress, your tire wont hit your frame and scrape off the paint. (Tape the botem of ur back fork nearest to the crank)
Cut a piece of cardboard and wrap tape around it, size it so fits into a jersey pocket or saddle bag. I'm a photographer so I have a lot of gaffer tape which is a nice tape it holds well and does not leave a residue behind . Now on repairing a torn tire, if they only made a product for that situation LOL. 😆
I sometimes use tape to make a shim to attach an accessory to my bike, especially the handlebar. I find that self-fusing silicone tape is amazing. It sticks to itself and won’t unravel. To remove, cut it off. I suspect this is better for finishing handlebar tape than electrical tape.
On my first solo 200km bike ride in May 2021, 75km in, one of my rear spokes broke. I used electrical tape to fasten it to an adjacent good spoke to keep it from flapping about and checked the trueness of the wheel. Because it wasn’t rubbing on the frame and was still relatively true, I tested it for a few kilometers before determining it was OK to ride the remainder of the trip. I made it home safely and brought the wheel in o my LBS to get it fixed.
I have put tape on the head tube to prevent cables rubbing off paint. I also tried the Dan Bigham tape for a TT once; I had a big cut on my leg from a previous crash😂.
Put electrical tape on the seatpost before applying a race tag. The tags are usually paper and don't peel off cleanly; the electrical tape will come off nicely saving a lot of picking off adhesive/paper residue.
Skateboard grip tape on the levers can help if you have slippery gloves in winter. Some TT riders use it on the saddle to stop movement too. Tape on the bottom of the seatpost can be good to mark your saddle height
Always keep a long strip of duct or electrical tape on the side of your frame. It can be very useful in emergencies. (Including emergency bandage to hold you together after crash). Just saying.
tack weld the electrical tape. great idea. previously i use masking tape first and then add electrical tape. btw i also do the same on seatpost for the saddle bag.
I can’t find the GCN video now but I’m sure Chris Opie had a tip about pros using tape around the front cables to make them look neater and a little more aero. It would but good to know if that still holds.
I've got gaffa tape around my MTB water bottle but over time the edges really suffer from the cage destroying it- on the road bike it's a decent length on the seatpost above the seat tube (as it's not a dropper post!). I am tempted to tape over some of the helmet vents this winter but not sure if this would be safe (chemically)?
@@zipsi yeah I kept hearing a clicking sound and finally figured out my sensor had slid toward the pedal and was hitting my tube towards the rear mech. Caught it just in time.
Wrap the end of cable housings to stop water ingress and thus oxidation(ie. Rd joint, fd joint, frame section transitions if non continuous housing). Cables survive for longer since!
I used a bunch of clear automotive 3M Scotch Guard on my bike when it was new in 2017. The bike shop thought I was nuts back then. To this day they always comment on how the bike "looks brand new". Well, YA!!
About 6:30 , that’s a great hack. Though, if you take out your inner sole and take a really thin piece of cardboard you can cut out the cardboard a tiny bit smaller than the sole. You can then reinforce the areas wich cover the holes with tape et voilá, you have a version wich is mich more durable and will last all winter. And as doin as spring breaks you van just take them out again...
Trip strip: Haven't tried this yet, but wondered if instead of using tape, shave your calf leaving hedgerows of hair where the tape would have been. Might be easier if someone else shaves your legs. Lighter or bleached hair may slow the UCI discovering it. Of course they'll ban it,
Okay, so thinking outside the box here in regards to the Danes' kinesio tape trick...what if you shaved your legs 4 days before an event, then again the night before...but left that strip with 4 days' hair growth? And as a bonus, surely nothing the UCI could do there...
Can anyone please help me what tape are pros are using on their bike sensors on their fork? because i dont want to use the cable wires that includes in the speedo that i bougjt.
Yellow tape and Green and Yellow stripey "Earth Tape" should be easy to find in any DIY shop. Its on Amazon too. You often see packs with Red, Black, Brown, White, and Earth tape in £1 shops (not the best quality stuff though). Orange exists too but you don't see it often.
I think I know what are you thinking about, but correct me if I'm wrong.. I have the same 1-2mm cracks or "rips" on my fixed gear (700x25c), never had a puncture because of them, the riding surface gets shredded sooner every time. So, I would say it's fine to ride them
With tubeless, I use tape to stop the air+sealant erupting out of the tire, When the tape falls off, the puncture is sealed. Have never used a 'worm' for punctures 🙂
Use tape to stop a tubeless valve rattle? That is a bodge and a half. There is a nut for that, which secures the valve to the rim and stops any rattle.
Well i had 5 flats in a 3 days. If i had knowen bout the tap trick that might have helped. I bought new new tires. So far not a single flat. Thanks for the hacks.
Warning; This video isn’t directed to the U. S. American subscribers, we already use tap fixed everything. I’m sure you all have done every tapping demonstration/hack he’s done & more. 😂🤣l
Used Gaffa tape and insulation tape for years, alway carry the later on rides. One use I had was to wrap around a cut in my leg to stop the bleeding, worked a great 👍
