i'd also reccomend a movie called "The girl with all the gifts" starring Gemma Arterton , Paddy Considine and Glenn Close. true its not a zombie movie as the baddies are not technically "dead". but if we consider "28 days later" to be part of the genre , then this should be allowed also ! lol
Great recommendation! "The Girl with All the Gifts" is a truly intriguing film that brings a fresh perspective to the zombie genre, even if the "zombies" in the movie aren't technically dead. I love how it blends elements of horror with deeper questions about the nature of humanity and evolution. I agree - if "28 Days Later" is considered part of the zombie genre, then this one should be, too! Thanks for sharing your recommendation!
Oddly enough I don't consider 28 days/weeks later part of the zombie genre but they are fun. Have not seen the girl with all the grit but I absolutely want to check it out.
Yes, it is! Have you watched the sequel? Ashin of the North? its very good! I love to see how other time periods and cultures handle a zombie apocalypse.
It pissed me off tbh. It's like they were too scared to be gory. Felt like they didn't hit anything when they shot zombies, no blood, no spatters from gun shots. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't impactful at all
Fun fact indeed! "Dead Set" is a great example of Charlie Brooker's talent for blending horror with social commentary. It's amazing how he later channeled those skills into creating "Black Mirror," where he explores the dark sides of technology and society. Thanks for sharing that tidbit!
"In the Flesh" is indeed a fantastic show with a unique take on the zombie genre. It’s unfortunate that they didn’t continue the series, especially with that cliffhanger. It definitely left fans wanting more. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Here are some more for you: The End? an Italian zombie film, It Stains the Sands Red and Train to Busan and Peninsula. I love this genre so thank you for some new hidden gems!
Thank you for more recommendations! “The End?” is an Italian zombie film that sounds very interesting. “It Stains the Sands Red” is also a fascinating choice - it tells the story of a woman trying to survive in the desert while being chased by a zombie. “Train to Busan” and “Peninsula” are classics of the genre that I also really enjoy. I’m glad I could share some new hidden gems with you!
Absolutely, "Cargo" is a great recommendation! Martin Freeman delivers a powerful performance, and the film offers a unique and emotional take on the zombie genre. Thanks for sharing!
I watched Cargo because I love Freeman. The movie is incredible. I cried at the end; so different from the completely predictable AND EVERYBODY DIES "shock ending". Well. This sort of happened. But the ending was thoughtful and hopeful.
I'm glad you enjoyed "Dead Set"! It’s a great mix of zombie chaos and reality TV satire. If you have any more recommendations or thoughts on similar shows, I’d love to hear them!
I understand your point about "Train to Busan" - it's an excellent zombie film that has received widespread acclaim. However, this list focuses on lesser-known zombie movies that might have flown under the radar for many viewers. I'm glad you have your favorite titles! Thanks for your comment!
You're absolutely right! "Train to Busan" is definitely one of the more well-known zombie films, so it doesn't quite fit the "hidden gems" category. The goal of this list was to highlight lesser-known titles that might be new discoveries for many viewers.
Haha, I’m glad you found the narration voice amusing! It’s always interesting to hear how different elements of a video resonate with viewers. If you have any other feedback or suggestions, feel free to share!
lol and trying to find ten different ways to make the same premise sound different. Quick, which show is this: "immerses the viewer in a nightmare where a horde of bloodthirsty zombies...."
Thanks for the recommendations! The Battery and The Dead 1 & 2 are definitely underrated zombie gems. They’ve got that unique indie vibe that really stands out. I'll keep these in mind for future lists!
Wow. Gotta give you props. I was expecting to know the movies but damn, only 3 of em I've watched. Ravenous, extinction and wyrmwood. Fairplay. You deserve a like from me 😂
Something completely different is the ultra-low budget zombie film Colin. Part horror film, part kitchen-sink drama, it basically follows the titular character, an everyday man who just so happens to get infected by a zombie. The film just concentrates on this one character as we witness him gradually and slowly fight to hold on to and finally lose his humanity.
Great suggestion! Colin is definitely a unique take on the zombie genre, blending horror with a more intimate, personal narrative. It’s impressive what they achieved with such a low budget, focusing entirely on the character’s experience rather than the usual outbreak chaos. It’s a fascinating look at the slow loss of humanity, showing a more introspective side of zombie films. Thanks for sharing!
@@bestmovies-wg1rq It's 5% comedy when you least expect it. I also love the fact that it's set in "Big Brother," so that the contestants initially think it's a joke. That is SUCH a great, original, breathtaking scene!
The Horde a French zombie movie from the early 2000s is pure 🔥 Definitely a hidden gem that many people do not know about. Make sure to check this movie out ASAP!!!
Absolutely agree! The Horde is a fantastic and underrated zombie film. Thanks for the recommendation-it's definitely a must-watch for any zombie movie fan!
South Korea's "Kingdom" which if my memory serves, ran for 2 seasons on Netfix is effing amazing . let me put it this way , just imagine if a zombie movie and a samurai movie had a kid together ? thats Kingdom ! i give this gem the HIGHEST of reccomendations !
I totally agree with you! "Kingdom" is an amazing blend of a zombie horror with an epic historical drama. The creators really did something special by combining these two genres in such a unique way. And the setting and costumes just add to the atmosphere. Thanks for the recommendation - this series definitely deserves attention!
dumbest movie ever, past times everyone has axe or thick wooden stick, at best zombie would reach second village. Not mentioning military, katan and knifes was weapon of last chance, pikes was thing to go.
Absolutely agree! Both Dead Set and In The Flesh are standout shows in the zombie genre. They offer unique takes and really dig deep into character and storytelling. Glad to see others appreciate them as much as I do
Another suggestion is "Maggie - Transformation" with Arnord Schazzenegger and that little girl from Zombiland(i forgot her name), it's very good :) :D, thx for the list, "Rambock" i didn't knew, i will watch :)
Great suggestion! Maggie is indeed a unique take on the zombie genre, and Arnold Schwarzenegger delivered an unexpected and emotional performance in it. The girl from Zombieland you're thinking of is Abigail Breslin. Glad you found something new with Rammbock-enjoy watching it! 😊
Black Summer seems to polarize people - the body count is insane - but I loved it. Season 2 focuses more on the desperation among survivors and I think this is where the killing turned some folks off. Absolutely not for folk who want a happy ending.
I agree, “Black Summer” really polarizes viewers. The body count is insane, but it adds to the intensity of the show. Season 2 does focus more on the desperation among survivors, which might have turned some folks off. It’s definitely not a show for those looking for a happy ending. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This is a great list! I love zombie films, so I've actually seen all of these except two: Wyrmwood and Rammbock, and while I've heard of the Wyrmwood one, I've not actually watched it, and I've never even heard of Rammbock. I'll see if I can find it streaming somewhere. But I will see your Rammbock and raise you: Deadlands, which is a zombie film from New Zealand with an all Maori cast, and Slashback, which is based in Canada and has a cast of Indigenous girls fighting alien zombies. I think both of these are available on Amazon.
Thank you for the great feedback! I'm glad you enjoyed the list and found some new titles to check out. "Wyrmwood" and "Rammbock" are definitely worth watching, and I hope you enjoy them. Your suggestions sound fantastic! "Deadlands" with its all Māori cast and "Slashback" featuring Indigenous girls battling alien zombies both bring fresh perspectives to the genre. I’ll definitely check them out on Amazon. Thanks for sharing these unique recommendations!
There are 2 Wyrmwood movies. I highly recommend you watch them. I was skeptical but after I watched the 1st I had to watch the second. Hopefully they make a 3rd!
La Horde is a great pick! Yannick Dahan’s take on the zombie genre is intense and action-packed, combining the gritty feel of a crime thriller with the chaos of a zombie apocalypse. It’s definitely a hidden gem for fans looking for something different in zombie movies, with its unique blend of styles and relentless pace.
Ohh yes, "the cured" was awesome. Great movie. There also is a zombie movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, not old. It was after he was Governour I think. I can´t remember the name. But Arnolds Daughter is infected, and the infection is not as aggressive as in most of zombie movies. If you find it: watch it! It´s worth it.
I agree, “The Cured” is an awesome movie! The film you’re talking about with Arnold Schwarzenegger is “Maggie” from 2015. It’s about a father trying to protect his daughter, who is infected with a zombie virus.
Thanks for your opinion! "Ravenous" can definitely be a bit more niche, and "Wyrmwood" is a great way to enjoy a popcorn-filled movie night. Hope you enjoy the other films you haven’t seen yet. Let me know what you think once you’ve watched them!
I understand that searching for a good movie can be frustrating! I hope you’ve found something you enjoy. If you’re still looking for recommendations, let me know, and I’d be happy to help!
Thanks for the recommendation! The Horde is definitely a hidden gem - mixing cops, gangsters, and zombies is a wild combo! 🍿🥤🎥 It’s a great addition for any zombie fan.
Thanks for your comment! I understand your perspective, but I've always seen 'Extinction' more as a zombie film. It's interesting to discuss different interpretations!
I agree, “Dead Set” was pretty impressive when it first aired. It’s a great example of blending horror with satirical elements. Thanks for sharing your memories!
Great recommendation! "The Battery" is a fantastic indie zombie film that often flies under the radar. Its unique approach to the genre and strong character development make it a must-watch. Thanks for suggesting it!
Wow ! Being a zombie movie fan, I know those good movies among low budget or badly script movie are hard to find. Your suggested list seems to contain a few good ones I never watched.
Thank you! I'm glad the list introduced you to some new gems. It's always a challenge to find good quality zombie movies among the low-budget or poorly scripted ones, but there are definitely some hidden treasures out there!
Day of the dead from 2008 is a bit of a guilty pleasure zombie movie and if you don't mind lower budget b movies 2013s The Demented is a decent zombie movie no one ever talks about.
Great picks! "Day of the Dead" (2008) definitely has its own unique charm as a guilty pleasure zombie film. And "The Demented" (2013) is a solid recommendation for fans of lower-budget zombie movies. Thanks for sharing these hidden gems!
I'm glad you found some awesome content you haven't seen before! I hope these films turn out to be as fascinating as they sound. Thanks for leaving a comment and enjoy your future watchlist!
No, you didn’t miss "Black Summer." That series is more well-known, and this list focuses on lesser-known titles that might be new discoveries for viewers. Thanks for the comment!
people need to watch Rampant. Asia has made some of the best zombie movies and Rampant is no exception. it is gory, bloody, violent with a mix of martial arts and non stop zombie action. the set designs, costumes, cinematography, makeup and fight choreography must be seen to be believed. it is easily one of the best zombie movies ever made.
I completely agree, 'Rampant' is an incredible film! Asian cinema often brings something unique to zombie movies, and 'Rampant' combines the best of everything-from fight choreography to stunning set design. Definitely a must-watch if anyone hasn't seen it yet!
I have a one that is not mentioned here and is most likely more intense than anything listed here... THE SADNESS (2022). Awesome movie 👍 All Horror enthusiasts must check this movie out. Not for the faint of heart. You've been warned⚠️
Thanks for the recommendation! 'The Sadness' is definitely intense and has gained quite a bit of popularity. Our list focuses on lesser-known gems, but it’s great to hear about other intense films. If you have any more hidden treasures, feel free to share them!
Awesome to see, here alone, on here. most zombie apocalypse fans I've talked with don't know this gem. The cured is also a good one to be on here. Rezort, is an interesting zombie apocalypse movie. Also the RU-vid short, cargo that was then made into a full length film, I believe on Netflix. Both gems in their own rights. # alive, is also an interesting one
Great suggestions! The Cured and Rezort are definitely worth checking out for any zombie apocalypse fan. Cargo is a fantastic short film that really set the stage for the full-length version, and #Alive brings its own unique twist to the genre. Thanks for adding these to the list!
Great job! Which of these hidden zombie gems did you enjoy the most? Do you have any other lesser-known titles that you think should be added to the list? Thanks for your comment!
All pretty good shows/ movies except Wrymwood, and Ive never seen Rammbock. Need a few more suggestions I think I’ve seen almost every zombie film ever made 😂
Got it, thanks for the note! Regarding ‘Wyrmwood’, I understand it might not be everyone’s favorite. ‘Rammbock’ is a German zombie film that might be interesting if you haven’t seen it yet. 😊
The Cured is definitely an interesting take on the zombie genre, especially with its focus on what happens after the infection. It's a hidden gem for sure!
It’s always frustrating when a show ends on a cliffhanger and gets canceled right as it’s picking up momentum. "In the Flesh" was a unique series with a lot of potential, and its abrupt ending left many fans disappointed. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
There is only one on this list that I haven't seen and that is Mutants. An excellent one not on the list is the South Korean "All of us are dead", a zombie outbreak centred around a school.
Thank you for your recommendation! Mutants is indeed an interesting pick. All of Us Are Dead is a fantastic suggestion-it's a gripping series with a unique setting in a school during a zombie outbreak. I'll definitely consider adding it to future lists. If you have any more recommendations or thoughts, feel free to share!
@@basiabasia4598 Well aren't you the clever little boy? If these are little known then how come I have seen 9 out of 10 of them yet I know plenty of people that have never heard of All of us are dead? Possibly due to location you might think?
In a way, you could say that! Both "In the Flesh" and "Warm Bodies" offer unique takes on the zombie genre with a focus on the human side of things. It’s interesting to see how different stories explore similar themes!
I’m glad I could help! I hope you enjoy the movies you haven’t seen yet. If you have any more questions or need further recommendations, feel free to ask!
Ok.. I didn't get how or why this video urked me so much (cause I love ZOMBIE MOVIES!!!) but then it hit me. It's because I am an American and a lot of these flicks appear to be from Europe. It was like a light bulb turning on when I realized it's because I often take forgranted the significant differences in our cultures. Many of these shows look appealing to me but I can see why they wouldn't make a dime in the states
Many of these films can be found on popular streaming platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or HBO Max. If not, it's worth checking out specialized platforms like Shudder, which focuses on horror and thriller films.
Thanks for your question! "The Cured" and "In the Flesh" are two different projects, though they have some similarities. "The Cured" is a 2017 film that explores a world after a zombie epidemic and the attempt to reintegrate cured infected individuals. "In the Flesh" is a British TV series that also deals with the reintegration of cured infected people but in a TV series format. Both explore similar themes but in different forms and contexts.
I appreciate your enthusiasm! 😊 It sounds like you’re quite the zombie movie aficionado. If you have any other hidden gems or favorites to recommend, I’d love to hear them. Thanks for checking out the list!
Dead set is great especially Davina McCall's zombie cameo. But i loved under the skin. So politically well written and presaged much about rhe UK,s weird and inexorable drift to xenophobic politics. A really smart and subtle series.. I also loved ravenous which, for a zombie movie, is so beautifully shot. Really love its cinematography.
I agree, 'Dead Set' is great, and Davina McCall's zombie cameo is unforgettable! 'Under the Skin' indeed presaged a lot about UK politics, subtly addressing important themes. As for 'Ravenous,' it's a real gem-so beautifully shot, standing out among zombie movies. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Impressive! It looks like you really know your zombie movies. If you have any other hidden gems that could make it onto this list, we’d love to hear about them! Thanks for your comment!
"Reality Z" is indeed a Spanish version of "Dead Set" and it has been praised for its unique take on the concept. It's great to hear that you found it to be even better than the English version. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Thank you for your comment! The movies from our list can be found on various streaming platforms like Netflix, Disney+, and Tubi. Each movie is available on a different platform, so it’s worth checking these services.
I’m glad you enjoyed "Rammbock"! It’s definitely a hidden gem in the zombie genre with its unique approach and tense atmosphere. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Absolutely, "#alive" is another intriguing film worth checking out. Its modern take on the zombie genre and dynamic action make it an interesting watch. If you have other films you think are worth mentioning, I’d love to hear about them!
I appreciate you letting me know! Availability can vary a lot depending on the region and platform. Some of these movies might be harder to find, but I hope you can track them down and give them a watch. If I find out where they are available, I'll update the info. Thanks for watching!
You're right, I forgot to mention “Shaun of the Dead”! It's a classic zombie comedy that uniquely combines humor with horror, but there will be another episode about the comedy.
Thanks for sharing your opinion! I appreciate your honesty. It's hard to find truly hidden gems these days, especially for dedicated fans of the genre. But I’m glad you found 'Extinction' worth watching. If you have any lesser-known zombie movies you think others would enjoy, feel free to share!
I'm glad you enjoyed Season 1 of "Day of the Dead"! It’s always great to hear that a series has hit the mark. If you have any other thoughts or recommendations, feel free to share!
I’m sorry to hear that you didn’t find these choices up to your expectations. Taste in movies can be quite subjective. If you have any personal favorites or other hidden gems you think should be on the list, feel free to share!
Great suggestion! Rec is indeed an amazing film that combines zombie and possession elements, creating a unique horror experience. Thanks for the recommendation - I’m sure many viewers will appreciate it!
