If you are new to comics, newly returning to comics, or are a long-term collector, there is something here for you. My channel is a mixture of comic book hauls, CGC unboxings, and practical advice that is designed to make us ALL smarter about comic book collecting.
➡️ I don’t tell you what to think but I do give you a few things to think about. We look at the grail comics, “hidden gems” that might in a long box at the local comic shop and must-haves for any comic fan’s collection. We also tap into the larger knowledge base of the comic book community during frequent live streams were we interview collectors that have been in the hobby for a few months to a few decades.
There are very few places on the internet (or elsewhere) where tons of quality comic book information is gathered in one place.

I was definitely surprised that ASM 129 did not make the list as we have the Punisher slated to be back in the upcoming Daredevil series on Disney+. I am also surprised that no DC books made the list. That's a great list however, and I am happy that I am slowly working my way through the list and now have four of the books on it.

Hulk 181 is a def i need to find again. I Sold mine in the 90’s when times were tough. One day I’ll own another. Hopefully before it gets crazy expensive 😅

I’m curious what do u feel are the major driving factors in our post pandemic environment behind the top 10? Are the days of flash in the pan hot books done ? The flash in the pan will probably never go away. The same with a full decoupling of the movies/tv shows and comics. These things have gotten better but are still there. This list seems to be driven by nostalgia and value decreases on solid books that may have ties to the MCU’s future.

Out of curiosity what do you consider as the first appearance of Venom? According to your analysis this would be ASM 299 and NOT ASM 300. ASM 299 shows a full page of Venom with dialogue but it is rarely mentioned as a first appearance

298 and 299 are cameos and the first full appearance is 300.

@@RegieCollects A lack of good quality movies to attract them to the original comics maybe? I think people use Marvel movies as a sales pitch for why they should buy older key comics.

You could be right. I say maybe because even with the DC movies dropping we didn’t see those books pop up on the list: Joker, Aquaman, The Batman were pretty successful. DC also does really well with cartoons and still no movement. Marvel isn’t crushing the box office yet they continue to crush these top 10 like lists so I’m not certain if it’s just the movies.

I have a copy of UF4 that I’m trying to figure out what to do with. The front cover looks perfect but the back cover has a 1.5” tear. Not sure if I should sell it as is or if I should get it graded first? The last sale of a 6.0 was $300.

Awesome books featured in this video. There's definitely some great key books from different eras that will always be on everyone's want list. I'm going to have to agree with you on the very beginning of this video about the Shortboxed app, it is definitely the easiest way to sell and list books. I just started to list a few days ago. Simple. I bought my 1st book from this app few weeks ago. Happy with it how easy it was!

I’ve stirred the pot in previous videos and this didn’t come close. 🤣 I did however attempt to head off all the comments about first appearance by stating that there is a difference between first appearance and first full. 🤣 In other words, I stated a fact versus an opinion.

I was surprised that you were surprised Ghost Rider made the list, and I was going to add that his popularity is up there with Black Panther and Daredevil, then I watched the rest of the video. Now I am surprised AND excited about something else that just slapped me, thanks to this video. Shortboxed is "no middle man" information, straight from the source of buyers and sellers. Since they have recently released this info, I have a gut feeling it has busted up some 'systems' of research. This calls for much more research. I love new and exciting research! Thanks Regie!

Ghost Riders’ popularity close to BP and Daredevil with whom? 🤣 Certainly not the masses given the movies and tv shows featuring BP and Daredevil. I would even argue that his popularity with collectors isn’t close either. Wait, which GR are you even referring to? Blaze, Ketch, Reyes, Cosmic? 🤣😂🤷🏾‍♂️

@@RegieCollects I was talking about the masses, actually. I constantly read comments on social media everywhere, and anytime GR is even hinted at, they go crazy, saying they can't wait for the movie. And there is not much to compare with what has already came out in media. Black Panther movies were obviously popular, Netflix Daredevil people like. Reyes in Agents Of Shield didn't seem to go over real well, and the Affleck movie didn't really flop, but wasn't a hit either. The Ghost Rider movie was a Box Office success, even though critics didn't like it, and was popular enough for a Ghost Rider 2. A lot of people enjoyed seeing Daredevil in Spider-Man No Way Home, but rumors about Ghost Rider in the same movie had social media way more excited. Every time there is rumors about Ghost Rider in the MCU, there is almost no other character that compares to how crazy social media goes for GR. He is on the list, after all. I could be wrong, but it's what I see in social media anyway. And as far as which GR? Definitely Sam Elliott 🤣 (Actually, I would like to see what MCU would do with Phantom Rider)

The demand won’t really go too low since miles is far bigger charter than was post COVID with plenty to go. It has a floor level.

The demand seems to be there for sure. Folks that wanted that book in really high grade were priced out at $3K which is an insane amount. Some might also be strategizing that Miles will pop again.

Great video Regie, have you given any thoughts to maybe doing a top selling independent publisher list? It seems like marvel dominates and it would be nice to see the data on the other publishers

It’s a good question. What would we really learn from that list? Additionally, how many views do you think that video would get? If you think about it, those books clearly are not sell so is it worth the resources and time away from family to create such a video?

@@RegieCollects I think it would give folks an idea of what other books out there are being read and collected outside of the MCU. Books like SIKTC, Invincible and Walking Dead are great reads and driven by TV but I bet there's a bunch of others out there folks don't know about. This would give some visibility to books that potentially could become sought after collectables.

So you are talking about an entirely different video. I say that because this series isn’t about what could be collectible in the future. It’s about what is actively been purchased by collectors right now. All of the books that you mentioned have the potential to be represented but they are not and the question is why not.

@@RegieCollects Yeah, I wonder why they aren't. I get why Marvel rules the roost but its a shame that there isn't more interest in other books. Maybe if DC can get it's act together with their movies but not sure that Gunn is the answer there.

I totally agree with you on the difference between Hulk 180 and Hulk 181. There are differences between a 1st cameo appearance, 1st appearance, 1st cover appearance, and origin story. Another character that falls into this debate is Venom.
