Scent magic is so important to me. It’s been a part of my Practice even before I admitted to myself that I was a witch. Incense, candles, essential oils, sage and palo santos. I love it all. One of the first things I do when I wake is light some sort of candle or incense. The smells, the flame, the smoke. It’s all such a part of me. 😍

For the longest time I have just used stick incense to set the overall energetic tone in a space. But, this reminded me of using them AS an actual scent spell. I love my handmade loose incense, but I had such a big focus on it. Also, finding time to make more batches can be hard! This was so wonderful! ✨

@@Owlvine loved the video. We have a local metaphysical shop and they sell loose auric blend incense sticks as well as the boxes. They have one called Egyptian goddess. I use it for general incense but the scent is just lovely. I will have to think of some amazing magical ways to use it because it’s been my favorite this past year by far.

I feel you on the white sage. To be honest, when people say it's part of a closed practice it annoys me quite a bit. That logic can be applied to anything Pagan. I am of Danish and Greenlandic descent and I love seeing people use parts of my culture's practices in their works.

So... I'm not an expert on this topic, but with white sage (at least in North America) it's not just an issue of a closed practice. The closed practice that it comes from belongs to indigenous peoples who have been colonized and their culture largely wiped out by European settlers. The practice of smudging with white sage was lifted from these indigenous religious/spiritual practices, taken out of context, and repackaged and resold largely to white practitioners for largely white profit. As a result, white sage is being very overharvested and increasingly unavailable to indigenous folks, including healers. It's critical to learn to respect and understand other cultures, but there's a big difference between sharing culture and taking it from colonized peoples who've had their culture all but wiped out.

My favs are the Mothers India scents🤤 I’ve still never found anything that compares. Particularly Oudh & Om. Bit grim, but I burned Oudh immediately after my dads passing so I now use it for ancestral connection and to invite him to hang out in my space.

Perfect time for a new video! Sitting outside enjoying the nature with my morning coffee 😊 I love incense. I have a lot of incense lol. Sandalwood and black opium are my all time favorites. It’s nice to get ideas for adding magical intentions into my incenses. I usually burn them for their good smells and to help get me into the mindset before magical workings.

I love dragons blood and just recently have developed a like for cinnamon incense. Egyptian musk I use to trigger dreams from my past life but it has to be a certain brand as like you said the smells do vary from brand to brand. Your channel was only just suggested to me a little while ago so I am slowly going through all your video's. I have been practicing for 31 years, had a really bad experience during my maiden years which forced me to become a solitary hermit witch and have only came out of my hermit hole to connect with the outside witch community a year ago, finally finding a great community who have suggested lots of wonderful channels like yours so was super glad to see your back and posting more content. Personally I haven’t used incense for quite a while and just started magic last Beltane. But so far I meditated with Meditation (Satya) and that one was amazing… it really got me more deeply into meditation than any other …. I love Satya White sage as well and any Sandelwood (I just love that smell!) thank you so much for the inspiration 😊🙏😘

I love all incense sticks especially when I get them from the witches roots and antipodean. But I think my favourite is the Angel Dust Stick incense. My other favourite would be lavender as well I collect the ash as well and add it to my black salt to protect the property when I can. That is when I am home alone and that is rare for these days. I feel you about the black magic incense. That really grounded, strong, determined energy is great for shadow work. I also use a coconut incense for a peace and calming energy. It just feels like it lifts the weight off you and releases tension. A bit like a mini-holiday from mundane worries. I sometimes mix the ashes with a little water or oil and use it as an ink for writing petitions or sigils related to the energy of the incense used ☺️

Loved this Owlvine! You really shouldn’t underestimate the power of incense sticks in workings. They often smell great and you can’t go past them in a pinch or when you’re on a budget. I love those Satya ones. They have one called “sacred ritual” which is amazing 💨🥰

I love how working with certain scents sets a mood based off the feelings or memories they bring up of a certain time or place. For instance I wore honeysuckle oil as perfume in high school and my boyfriend at the time loved it. He always noticed when I wore it. So I associate the smell of honeysuckle with love or lust. You can make a ritual of burning a certain scent like rosemary or cedar everytime you are doing your finances and then use that in prosperity work for example.

Whilst i dont practice your craft but yet i respect it.... i do practice spiritualism.....but YES YES YES....i do love Dragons Blood the red box i fine that the scent overwhelms me emotionally cant get enough of it.....HEM Opium the purple box...like OMG it takes me to another place...its an all rounder Again HEM French Vanilla again OMG...i do also enjoy Nag Champa Super Hit blend.....but again love working with Japanese and Tibetan Sticks.....have a Blessed Day

I love watching and talking about incenses, so I enjoyed a lot watching your video :) My favorite incense at the moment is Witches' Curse by Stamford, it smells amazing and connects me with my practice. Another one is from the same brand you showed, NAG, it's called Forest and it remembers me when I started on my path. But my favorite brand is Satya: Frankincense, Dragon's Blood and Jasmine are my go-to from them. Usually I don't use stick incenses for spell work, only for rituals. For spell work I prefer creating loose incenses, but you really got me thinking with your suggestions, I might give it a try, specially the white rose + cinnamon combo! I'd love to see a video about your favorite loose incenses as well :)

Glad to see you back, Owlvine. Missed you! 💜There is one incense I used to have called Night queen. It was kind of like honeysuckle with a hint of sandalwood (I think. Maybe) very yummy scent. But had to stop using incense due to allergies.😒 So I don't know if it remains available or even the same scent. But man, it was my favorite.

So happy I revisited this post....incense is just magic....Yesterday the world lost Queen Elizabeth II i knew she liked floral scents so i went out and purchased 6 rolls of floral scents.....to burn, not only in her honor but also to celebrate the beginning of spring southern hemisphere style.... this is why i love incense related videos.....scents for me just shows the path for me.....right now im burning Amber Rose.

I love incense! I usually burn stick & cone incense just for the scent, and loose "incense" (usually just a dried herb/flower/resin mixture that I've made) for magical purposes... not necessarily on purpose though, it just seems to works out that way. So you've given me some great ideas and I'll keep an eye out for your recommendations! My current favourite stick incense is just straight up Cedar, by HEM. To me it smells like a campfire, and that's pretty much my favourite smell of all time :)

I am allwrgic to SAGE & CINNAMON so i quickly learned about resins and herbs to create my own loose incense. My favorite stick incense are CHOCOLATE and BLACK COCONUT. But my current favorite blend is vanilla, orange, and cardamom

Ah, another vid 🥰 What a nice gift on a Wednesday, on the day of Mercury during the last bits of the full moon 💖 My all purpose go-to is a cone incense called India Temple incense, by Song of India. It’s a sandalwood and as it attracts the energies of Kether (the primary, highest emimation) in my practice, it’s good anytime. I also use Angelic Frankencense by Trikola, which attracts the energies of Tiphareth (the Christ consciousness, or Osiris, Dionysus, Mithras, choose a rebirth deity of your liking) as a special occasion scent. I’m supposed to be working with patchouli right now (Malkuth and also elemental earth) but... I’m not particularly fond of it... I may need to find an appropriate substitute. By the by, you’re really the only person I share details of my practice with, out here in the internets. ❤️

I have heard of India Temple and a few people in here have mentioned Song of India as being their favourite... I'm going to need to get my hands on some! Cone incense is great, although I've actually only just started using it really. I've been having fun experimenting with making my own too... still working on getting the right formula!

I have that same volume of Edgar Allan Poe’s works. Mine was actually found next to the big dumpster at my old apartment along with several boxes of other amazing books. Love finding freebies that other people tossed.

I don't burn incese that produces smoke a lot anymore because it irritates my partner's allergies. However, when I do, my go to is Satya's Patchouli Forest because it helps me get into a trance state and visualize forest scenes. These days I usually make my own incense blends with essential oils, herbs, and resins and burn them in my oil burner. On that same note, I use my oil burner as a sort of cauldron where I spellcast. So I put oils, herbs, or resins that correspond with my spell intention or I make a spell blend to use. It's been a great practice!

I can imagine how irritating incense smoke would be to anyone with allergies. I haven't tried Patchouli Forest and you're not the only one to mention it here, I think I may have to hunt it down 😊 Oils are such a fantastic alternative to smoky scents and I love that you really work them magically too! I mostly burn Satya Incense. They have such a great range of scents. I LOVE their Opium incense. Its so great for dark moon meditations, dream working and earthy serpentine magics. Egyptian Jasmine is divine - it has a beautiful honey note and is delicious. Great for love magics or devotional offerings. Vanilla is lovely for calm and warm comfort for the home. I really love Japanese incense sticks as they burn cleaner with less smoke but hold strong scent. Golden Pavillion is a blend of sandlewood and cinnamon. Its absolutely wonderful for clearing your magical space and as a devotional offering.

Great incense video. I normally use frankincense, it is readily available in a lot of stores. I like the Black Magic and Moldavite. I will look these up, Thanks! By the way, the black and gold set of tarot cards that are on the left side behind you, what are they? I recently go a Book of Azathoth set that has similar colors. This set and the separate hardcover book that comes with it has fantastic artwork. You ought to check these out, if you haven't already!!

Incense I burn just for it’s scent only throughout the day is Yatra, Super Hit and Adi da Rasa Holy Cat. But for ritual/spellwork I use either frankincense resin on a charcoal block or frankincense stick incense. I hate all mainstream store bought frankincense as I find they smell nothing like it. I’m fortunate to have a local apothecary that stocks the most beautiful frankincense ever that actually smells like real Frankincense that’s hand rolled no branding/packaging apart from a fine plastic sleeve. It’s amazing, I’ve purchased it for other friends/witches that I’ve recommended it to who love it as much as I do. I’m not a fan of any of the Hem range and I only like the odd Satya incense being Super Hit. Having said all that I’m always on the lookout for incense. I make my own herb bundles too for smoke cleansing my tools, altar and myself 🙏🏻

Aww. I tried hem incense recently and I had to kick it out of the house ... too perfumy. In sticks, I love Gonesh Sandalwood and Patchouli. Mostly, I burn loose powders or resins. Sandalwood is my all-time favorite ... it's so calming for me.

My favourite for scent and general mood setting is Satya's "Super Hit" - It smells absolutely amazing to me. I've grown fond of their Vanilla, Cinnamon and Positive Vibes as well. For magical purposes I try to use incense based on herbal correspondences! I've been sort of wary of the incense with "names" because they've felt "fake" to me but this video has made me want to drop that assumption and try some of them out. I struggle with incenses that just smell "burnt" tho, and I've found that the HEM ones usually don't smell of anything other than burning when lit but people keep recommending them so I don't know what I'm doing wrong haha :'D

I LOVE Super Hit! I agree, it's divine! I felt the same way but over the past few years have had fun playing with sticks for magic, and it's working a treat 😊 I know what you mean about the burning smell too and I've definitely smelled some like that. Haha maybe you just haven't smelled the "right" HEM scents yet... although scent is a highly personal thing! As for lavender incense.. hopefully someone will jump on here and give a good recommendation, but there was one someone sent me from the UK years ago that was proper lavendery. I don't recall the brand but I've had a look around online to see if seeing the box. It COULD be the one by the brand "Karma Scents"... but I'm not 100%. Best of luck finding a good one! xox

Hello! I am hooked on patchouli, its my go to. Dragonsblood too but you need to be careful as there are so many different kinds and they don't smell the same... I would love to heat what you do with the ashes, maybe a future video. Blessed be!

Patchouli is amazing, SO witchy. I agree, Dragons Blood is hit and miss, although I haven't smelled one that is actually bad. Good suggestion! In the meantime I'll let you know the collected incense ashes go into blends and powders, on spell candles and in spell/mojo bags. They've got all that beautiful MAGIC intention in them + they smell amazing.... so I figure they're the perfect spell ingredient 😊 xox

So I add the leftover ashes to blends... powders, incenses and the like. I'll also add them to mojo/spell bags, and roll candles in them. They're infused with all the magic I have done you see, so they're a powerful magical ingredient 😊

Aww the hem brand ones gives me a headache, which sucks because they are so cheap, but I love a lot of the hand made ones. I use stick incense to bring the vibe of the spell both to the space and my mind. But I also just like to use ones that suit the season, it helps me feel more connected with nature and I dunno I guess that makes me more grounded and more powerful 😊

Room sprays are such a good idea as an alternative! A few other people here have said they can't burn incense either, some other suggestions were wax melts, and essential oils in an oil burner 😊 There are lots of great options out there these days! xox

I love stick incense, unfortunately I'm nearly all out and can't go out to get more (we're still in lockdown where I am and the stores are only allowed to sell 'essential' items). Perhaps I should look into purchasing some online, I'll have to try some of your favourites. My favorite scent in general is patchouli currently, though I haven't been overly adventurous in incense overall (I'm always scared of setting the fire alarm off which is triggering for everyone living here as we had a house fire in 2017 where we lost everything 😬) I do like lighting some outside where we have buried past pets too feed the spirits. I like to think of them as guardians of the garden/ home now. I understand what you mean about going to shops, I have certain ones I prefer going to when I do go out because I'm familiar with the layout and know where everything is (I so hate when stores decide to rearrange the aisles lol)

We just entered another lockdown today, and it can be a right pain the butt to get witchy items! I'd definitely recommend checking out some online stores in the meantime so you can get a few scents to play with 😊 I have found that stick incense doesn't set off fire alarms... even if you burn it right near them, it's only the loose incense that sets them off. That's a beautiful idea to light them outside though 💜 Oh yes, they're definitely guardian spirits! Haha I'm with you on the rearranging on isles. It's suppose to be good for our brains, but it's annoying 😆 Many blessings Kae! xox

I love me some Dragons blood for general use - but sometimes use other scents around the sabbats - I.e Cinnamon, clove and Orange for Yule. I've recently got into wax melts for scent magic - though this lacks the smoke element for cleansing etc it still invokes feeling and supports intention. I really want to try rope incense at some point too! - if any UK peeps have a good recommendation for where we can get those (quality aand resonably priced) I would be grateful

Lovely video! I added the pagan magic and Ganesh ones to my list of "to buy" witchy items haha. I got some handmade honeysuckle incense from AncientBathandBody on Etsy last year and I just love it. They don't make incense anymore so I've been very sparing with what I have left. I use to after I've cleansed a room to promote joy for the family. Another favorite is jasmine. Anything jasmine promotes a calm atmosphere for me. I had brought some for some ~witchy camping~ last year and now that memory shoots up every time I smell the stuff. Pleasant scent magic :D

What incenses are best for the spirits of springs, ponds and forests? Which are the worst choice? I bought some Mexican cigars but I'm not sure that spirits of nature (water and trees) will be happy
