I know everyone has their own opinions and this may sound completely ignorant, but anyone who dislikes the Big Lebowski, I cannot respect as a human being.. and I am the Walrus.
If someone doesn't like the Big Lebowski, all I have to say to them is, "Yeah well, that's just like, you're opinion man." Or how bout, "You're out of your element!"
Any list that have The Big Lebowski as no 1 is a good list. It´s not only a fantastic movie but Mr Bridges role as 'the Dude' is one of the best performances ever made.
Jeff Bridges can't be contained to a "Top 10" list as his catalog of films is too impressive. He's been nominated for 5 Oscars so that's half a list right there. My favorite performance is Lightfoot in Thunderbolt and Lightfoot. Sad ending too... No mention of Preston Tucker in Tucker "The Man and His Dream", Fearless, Rancho Deluxe, Blown Away, K-Pax or The Amateurs. Damn good actor.

Glad to see Arlington Road mentioned. It's an oft forgotten movie that is actually incredibly solid, and is even MORE relevant today than it was when it was made in the late 90s.
Jeff always struck me as one among a rare breed of truly gifted artists. An amazing metamorphosis; a man creating, and truly 'becoming' a character in any one of many different roles. An incredible actor. 'Method' with the highest of honor's . He completely abandons everything of himself, and Lives this other entity, a man who doesn't even belong in his own time. Yeah, I guess he's pretty good.
From a pure acting-becoming one with the character - pure talent performance, his best acting job EVER was in "The Vanishing" with Sandra Bullock and Kiefer Sutherland. And the fact that it's not on the list is a disgrace. And the fact that it's not in the honorable mentions is just unacceptable.
+Coco Pops He is more famous. How much more acclaim could he get? Hollywood pedigree (son of Lloyd), became a star is first time out (Last Picture Show), continuous stream of great roles, Oscar winner, and... forever: The Dude!
My addition to this list would be 8 Million Ways To Die. Jeff Bridges' performance in that film was outstanding. Also featured the first prominent role for Andy Garcia. On a side note, Jeff Bridges plays Matthew Scudder from the Lawrence Block novels, the same character Liam Neeson portrays in A Walk Among The Tombstones.

Yeah - I love the Dude and all, and it's certainly his most iconic role, but for sheer acting prowess, 'Fearless' really should have made this list, and high up on it.
So many of these actor top 10's would really only be accurate if the actor had only done 10 movies. Everything Jeff Bridges does is excellent. Such a great actor.
Dude has to be one of my favorite actors. I've been ordained and follow the code of The Dude, but even before that I've loved Jeff Bridges since I saw Tron as a kid.
When you guys were talking about runner ups and said "the dude" I almost had a heart attack, there was zero transition, I assume that was intensional. Crazy heart is insanely heart breaking at certain times. You guys nailed this list, bridges is one of those actors that choosing ten must have been really tough. Just to add I really liked him in the vanishing, I don't want to ruin who or what he is so ill just say he played that part really well too.
I love how they're like: before we unveil our number one pick like it's a biiig secret. OF COURSE THE DUDE WAS GOING TO BE NUMBER 1...I knew it before I even started watching the video as I'm sure most everyone else was.
I know this list precedes Hell or High Water but Bridges is so fabulous, it needs to be mentioned here. I also can't imagine a 10 Best Bridges list without Rancho Deluxe, Hearts of the West, Cutter's Way, 8 Million Ways to Die, Tucker, Blown Away, or Seabiscuit. Of course, that's 7 films right there and doesn't even include any of his award-winning performances. Basically, it's impossible to keep a Jeff Bridges list to 10. (I would have happily left Tron off myself, but that's me.)

Been marathoning 55 of Jeff's works and my top faves are: Arlington Road Blown Away Winter Kills Bad Company (the 1972 film) Simpatico Cutter's Way 8 Million Ways to Die Halls of Anger (his very first movie before The Last Picture Show) Tucker: The Man and His Dreams White Squall Against All Odds The Last American Hero Fearless Thunderbolt and Lightfoot Starman The Fisher King Seabiscuit I enjoy him best in thrillers and action. Also, if anyone craves a quality rom-com, then The Mirror Has Two Faces, See You in the Morning and Kiss Me Goodbye are worth checking out.
The scene where he teaches Cody how to make a surfboard is my favorite. Cody's itching to take over, but it's all coming back to the Big Z and he's in a trance. just... gently...with the grain.... stroke.... by stroke....
Jeff Bridges can bring out the best of a brilliant writers works. The Big Lebowski was beautifully written and only Mr. Bridges could have brought the writers words to life.
Jeff Bridges is such a great actor - too bad that he's hardly ever named in line with actors like Jack Nicholson, Dustin Hoffman, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino - he really should be in this line!! By the way: What about "Fat City"?
Agreed. It's all johnny Depp and Tom Cruise these days. When I watch Jeff Bridges in a movie. He immediately makes me forget he is acting the part. As he does his roles so well, that I believe him. Johnny Depp has never done shit for me, except dress up in weird clothes and look moody.
