One of the greatest rock voices, songwriters and bands of all time. A real privilege listening to such gems, and so invigorating these days to see the focus being put squarely back on Jon's extraordinary talent, emotion-filled performances and rightful placement in the pantheon of rock 'n roll legends. Many thanks, Mark 👍🏻🌟
Seeing these performances makes it all the more sad to see where he is now vocally. He may never have been the most technical singer but he had a hugely charismatic and emotive singing voice.
I'll be there for you.
NO.
With all the videos lately taking (what seems to be) joy in his vocal struggles, it's nice to see a video that celebrates just how good he was at his peak. I'm not a big 80s fan, but this is one of the best voices in rock history. It's amazing because of the lack of technique -- some of this stuff shouldn't be possible.
Mille bisous ❤️❤️❤️👍😍😉
As a 0.001% Bon Jovi listener on Spotify and a vocalist in an aspiring rock band, I really appreciate this video: the 1994 Howard Stern Show performance of Always is something that I forgot on my list to analyze how Jon approaches the chorus(was usually referencing the Wembley shows and the Tonight Show with Jay Leno one) My personal favorite of Prayer is the 1986 Worcester one where he has a cool arrangement in the end that goes higher, and also pretty much every Dry County performance. As you said, JBJ isn't known for 'technical' singing and his voice decline maybe remarkable these days, but he's the only one who got me through my first ever depression in life(covid), inspired me to start a rock band and try for a career in music. Thanks for the video, I've really enjoyed it.
Simply one of tha Best/Greatest Bands…. LoVe BON JOVI & JON!! He saved my life & will ForEver b Grateful/Thankful!!❤️🙏🏼🖤Hope/Pray one day soon they will reconcile & b OG, again!! Always have tha memories & music…. Y’all know 2 keep on Rockin Us!!!🙏🏼🌹❤️🇺🇸
I'll be there for you 1989 Philadelphia and Livin on a prayer 1987 Nassau awesome. Bed of roses from the Evening MTV is also very nice with Jon playing piano.
1992 was Jon's peak vocally. He had the range, rasp, growl all in one. You can really tell how Bob Rock pushed him on this record to sing aggressively. By 1995 on These Days, he sounded thin and nasally, though he sang ridiculously high still but nothing compared to 1992.
@@viniciuscomacento I agree. He may have lost a little bit of range in 1995-1996, but I think These Days is where his voice peaked because it was the highest intersection between range/power and emotional delivery.
Cracking video mate. Thanks for sharing. You could almost take his top 10 from the whole Evening with Bon Jovi show. It's my favourite live show of all time. Not only was Jon at his best, but the band were on it too. Watching Tico these days is completely different. The greatest band of all time. Thanks again!
my personal performances that should've made the list: dry county hamburg 1993, if i was your mother quebec 1993 (eb5 note), livin on a prayer hannover 1986, wembley 1995 always, ill be there for you 1989 philadephia, runaway 1984 tokyo, my guitar lies bleeding in my arms 1996 yokohoma, tampa lie to me 1995, something to believe in paris 1996/nagoya 2001, keep the faith 1993 stockholm,
It's very gratifying to see this video showing Jon and Banda's performances! Congratulations on your work Mark....I hope you make more videos like this one... :)
I love this band from 80s till now and been lucky enough to see them live they are fantastic and would love to see them again come back to Scotland I'll be first in queue for tickets
That's a great list. Thanks for sharing! My favourite vocal performance of his is Always on the Live from London recording. Particularly the outro. Which coincidently is my favourite guitar performance from Richie.
Yes agree with you and everyone has to remember richie left on his own accord and half way through a tour which in my eyes was totally unacceptable he didnt spare a thought for the other members of the band and for fans who had paid for tickets quite sad he only thought of himself
Those are all excellent performances but it is an understatement and difficult to consider only 10. I suggest you listen to the concert in tampa 1995 on the hAnD90 channel, I think it is one of the best concerts in history
If I had some spare time I would do 100! This is simply a passion project of mine. I also want to capture a live performance on video but Tampa is just audio
Yes I would say that I was there my first bon jovi concert ant they were fantastic I didnt knowwhatt to expect but the atmosphere was fantastic remember holding a light on long before mobile phones were all the age
@@bjtop10 ofc i should. I watched that show and Jon had voice problems. Listen and you will find his voice cracked a few times. They used backing track for the chorus. Even his sound colour and Volume is dofferent…
"Not a technical singer".....I've been checking out Bon Jovi videos due to Jon's vocsl issues.....I've heard this phrase repeated a lot "not a technical singer"......I've no idea what that means?
It usually means the proper use of the technical aspects of singing, i.e. breathing, structure, placement and projection. It’s hard to explain but it’s like playing tennis - anyone can hit a ball. But when you get a coach, you might think more consciously about the way you hit the ball. Anyone can open their mouths and sing. But when you get a vocal coach, you’ll apply techniques to do it in a certain way. Not to say, Jon sings the wrong way. And there’s no doubt Jon has vocal coaches, but the way he expresses it gets perceived that he might not be doing it the way professional singers would advise - it’s purely out of his natural ability to sing eg. He had a wide vocal range, nice natural tone, etc. You can tell Sambora applies ‘technical’ singing a lot more than Jon. Perhaps if Jon applied it better, he wouldn’t blow out his voice. It looks like he forced a lot of his vocal power from his throat, rather than from his diaphragm.
To me, it's sort of like... technical singing is kind of like the ability to lift a car because you know exactly how to get the best leverage to lift a car. You know when to switch registers. Jon Bon Jovi, in this metaphor, would be like a guy who came along and could just straight up lift a car. That's what makes him special, IMO. He could generate power like few other singers because he was able to do things in his chest voice that most people in his vocal class (maybe a low tenor?) aren't able to do.
BONJOUR BON JOVIS JE VIENS DE TOURNNER MON MATELAS ET FAIRE MON 🛌 LIT IL FAIT BEAUCOUP DE VENT COMMENTU VAS. .TU EST LEVER OU TU DORT DÉ TOUTE FACON JE SAIS CI C EST TOI GRACE A LA CAMERA.
