Buzzfeed's top 60 LGBT movies! www.buzzfeed.com/eleanorbate/lgbt-movies-checklist-quiz?.jo7oYARJR#.udPWo7JPJ Almost Adults on Netflix! www.netflix.com/ca/title/80175829
Yes i agree it was clearly a victim of it's time - i would love to have seen it made with the same cast and director 20 years later! It was still beautiful though.
That's because the movie, as much as I loved it, was so deep in the closet, it fell into Narnia. You had to look for the lesbian story with a magnifying glass... Which reminds me I really have to read the book, where it ws explicit.
I like how, over the course of the years, the amount of touching on Pillow Talk has increased. You guys got so much more comfortable with physical proximity in front of the camera, everything seems more relaxed. It's nice, I really like how you're still having fun after all this time!
Kai L idk man the ending kinda was not good(to me)? Everything leading up to it was pretty good, but the end was just really anticlimatic for me. The acting and cinematography was beautiful and perfectly done. My only criticism is the ending. I was just kinda like... oh.
@@briannastanley1067 I thought the ending was very fitting, Esti leaving the community and not ending up together with Ronit. There was so much between them that they had to figure out before anything serious could ever develop and Ronit has her whole life in NY while Esti didn't want to leave England. For their characters, it made a lot of sense. I hate when they break characters to force a happy ending that wasn't meant to be. Correct me if I'm missing something tho.
My favorite lesbian movies are CAROL, Fingersmith, I Can't Think Straight, When Night Is Falling, Imagine Me and You and Aimee & Jaguar. I have others but these are the ones that are also amongst my favorite movies in general
My favs are Moonlight, Disobedience, Brokeback Mountain, Imagine Me & You, Love Simon, Boys Don’t Cry, Carol, and Blue Is the Warmest Color (completely agree about the sex scene being way too long in that movie).
I saw some people mention that movie. I’ve never heard of it. I just looked it up on IMDB and I already know I’m gonna love it lol. Will def check it out soon. Good looking out.
Wow just erase ,,blue is the warmest color,, from this list and add ,,I Can't Think Straight,,, the movie is really funny and it showcases the oriental persepctive about gays and is based on the director's story itself and what about the classic movie ,,Fingersmith I mean the movie has so many plot twists and is beautifully shot, oh also even though the movie is sad I love ..LIz in September... it is a great movie I cried a lot, but the chemistry between this two is so crazy, how they flirt and everything. Edit: The most favourate ,,Kyss Myg,,
Thelma is one of my favorite movies, it's sad that not many people watched and the Academy left Thelma behind on Best Foreign Language Film, even with A Fantastic Woman being a fantastic movie.
I actually really love blue is the warmest colour, felt that it was so relatable both for feeling disconnected from your partner but also in questioning yourself. The discomfort you get from those close ups really adds to the overall feeling. Honestly think it is by far one of the best LGBT movies out there but you really need to be in the right head space (i.e. be alone and prepare to cry and feel sad and all the feelings ahahaah) And then of course call me by your name is the guy version of it, also an amazing film
Also, The Girl King! Historical drama about real life lesbian and monarch queen Christina of Sweden! Makes up for the straightwashing of her history in the greta Garbo film (which is ironic because Garbo was also a lesbian. Oh, Hollywood.).
Favorite LGBT movies: Kiss mig The handmaiden Handsome devil Imagine me and you The firefly And others that I can't remember at the moment ... But that is it for me
YESSSS SAVING FACE IS MY FAVORITE MOVIE! I love how it reaches out to the Asian American/Asian community, because I feel like a lot of movies do not represent the Eastern Asian community and how strict their views are over the LGBT community.
Are you guys UofT Vic College allum? I used to live there and noticed you filmed around there a lot for Almost Adults. Also shout out to the bronze statue man on the Vic bench.
The Pillow Talk List is - The Birdcage - If these Walls Could Talk 2 - Saving Face - Imagine Me & You - Brokeback Mountain - Carol - Moonlight - Blue Is the Warmest Color - Thelma - The Hours
“Carol” is worth watching ... I’m not really a movie person but it was def. an interesting storyline with an equally interesting setting for dramatic/real-life obstacles. .. . I probably can’t think of any to list that you haven’t seen.
I was eating spaghetti while watching this 😂 Moonlight is the only movie on your list that I haven’t seen, so I know what I’ll be watching this weekend!
I feel like The Handmaiden is really underrated and NEEDS more recognition honestly like ??. A LESBIAN PSICOLOGICAL THRILLER WITH **** SOPILER ALERT******** A HAPPY ENDING yall missing out, it is my favorite LGBT movie
Reaching for the moon is a Brazilian/American lgbt film about the real life relationship between poet Elizabeth Bishop and architect Carlota de Macedo soares and let me just tell you in terms of evoking an emotional response this movie is all the way up there with Carol and The Hours.
The Hours is not only a lgbtq related movie I love, is my favorite movie of all time. I have watched it so many times I know the script by heart. The movie came out when I was 21. After I saw Julianne Moore's storyline in it, I realized I was gay. Very important movie to me 😊
My ultimate favourite lesbian movie is 'Our Love Story'. It's a Korean movie that evolves around 2 girls in a relationship and the struggles that come with it. It is so real, the actors are amazing, the sex-scenes are realistic, its really a must to watch!!
i can't choose only one because they keep getting better! I Did you girls watched the french one, from 2015, La Belle Saison? there is another one too, italian movie named Viola de Mare, based on actual facts, if I'm not mistaken.. I'd love knowing your opinion about them
OMG you guys, I love watching you talk about movies. It's just... you get so passionate it's kinda funny lol My favorite LGBT movie is a Chilean movie called Young & Wild
The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister - Based on RL (2010) - The Girl King (2015)- Better Than Chocolate (1999) - Tipping the Velvet mini-series (2002) - Out at the Wedding (2007) - Call Me by your Name (2017)
Lost and Delirious and Saving Face are my top choices. I actually remember seeing The Hours in theaters with my mom and afterwards all I remember was her questioning what type of movie did we just watched. I hear moonlight was amazing, need to check that out. Thanks for the recommendations ladies. ✌️
"The Hours" is fantastic then again I'm a fan of Virginia Woolf. I also like "But I'm a Cheerleader" it's perfect for when I'm feeling slightly juvenile and in a relaxed mood.
